A regency-era ball is being held, but the host, Edwin, is nowhere to be found. Sequestered in his private study downstairs, he dances with his partner, Pascal, and they bask in each other's company - until Pascal asks a question Edwin wasn’t ready to answer.

As queer filmmakers, we set out to show the personal struggle of uniting your public and private lives as a queer person, and how it can take longer for some to be able to take those steps. This film takes inspiration from historical queer relationships, period piece fiction, and the works and life of Oscar Wilde. The title, "Purple Hours", originates from what Wilde would call his time spent with his male partners in private.
