For those who suffer from shortness of breath, physical activity can be very difficult. Pursed-lip breathing is one of the easiest ways to control and regulate breathing when you're active. It works well for asthma if on inhaling the lips are pressed together to relax lung airways by a physiological reflex (acupressure). That would be the natural cure for asthma due to mouth breathing with slack lips.

Mudras such as crossing fingers or interlacing fingers as when praying also deepen respiration see Buddha mudra.

I statrtspasmatic coughing while sitting on a soft sofa when my thorat gets a tickling feeling....no cough otehrwise...does this technique help reduce this

Repeat them two or three times as necessary...???we just have to do it for 2 or 3times?

Repeating two or three times usually is all that is needed, but you can repeat a few more times if necessary. Talk with your doctor if shortness of breath with physical activity persists.

National Jewish Health actually I was asking about how to breath during morning walk...can I do pursed lips breathing...I walk for 1 hour daily morning...

National Jewish Health no...but I have high BP and my weight is 120...and suffering from anxiety disorders..I don't know what to do...when I walk 5 km I feel dehydrated...so how should I walk I mean how I breath... yesterday I did lips pursed...I was really exhausted and before that I take breath through mouth only then also I exhausted... heartbeats really increases in both...could u help me pls...

@@hiteshmokaria7145 try breathing through your nose only. In and out. You’ll get twenty percent more oxygen this way while expending less energy.
