I washed the car , at a self service , and when i tried to start the engine the main button was red . I plugged my eraser code, and no error code , i was sweating like a pig in the car , you cant immagine thouse moments of frustration . Then i said what can i do , i called a friend to come over , and in the mean time i said lets see what internet has to say. I pushed for 30 sec the button and it work, man you deserve a beer , cheer to you, God bless you!

Had to use these tricks as i had a dead car battery which appears to have shafted all the sensors in the start stop button, even with new battery in key fob. Thanks from 6 years later and anyone else shafted you know these tricks work well

Most accurate video I found was stuck at the gas station for about 15 min soon as I held the start button it came on 💪🏾

OK, so everyone agrees this is literally life saving. It just saved me too. My car is only 2 years old and only has 20,000 miles on it. Why did this happen to my nearly new car???? Also, why isn't this fix mentioned in the manual?

Wow! It worked on my 2012 Camry! Would not start for days. But your tricked worked. Not even anyone at the Toyota dealership knew this trick. But -- the car would not come out of gear. Any suggestions?

I experienced over-ride. Head lights , power windows and ebrake all worked but engine didn't start. The brake pedal was felt like dead pedal. I had to pump the pedal few times before pushing the start button and it started.

The 30 second hold on the push start worked

good to know , when break light switch is failing that might override it. it use to be if break light switch is broken you cannot take it out of park. and you have to use a shift lock override with a screwdriver to let you take it out of park when the car is on.

How a $3 battery can "Brick" your $30,000 car. Engineering Genius!

I have a 2019 Toyota Rav 4 with the push button start option. If i drive the car every day, then there's no problem. If I let it sit in the garage for about a week without turning it on, the car battery is dead. I would have to jump to start the car. Lots of people say to leave the key FOB far from the car, because that would cause the battery to drain, so I don't know if there's any truth to that? I feel like if it's designed like that, what would happen if I leave my car at the airport of a week or two, and then it wouldn't start? Do you have any suggestions other than purchasing a battery maintainer? We're in the middle of the Covid19 lock down, so I don't drive as much and it is frustrating when this happens. Thank you in advance for any input!

When you press the start button for 30 seconds do you have to press the brake at the same time? This happens often with my Rav4.

I hear this happens because the temperature is low/very cold I live where it doesn't get very cold and it's usually warm. I haven't had a problem like this in my Rav yet but good to know.

So tried the other way w/Holding it down for 30 sec. Nothing..
