I'm about six minutes in and all I can see is an old CB microphone, I bet the younger people don't even know what that is, you just slammed me back into my childhood of walkie Talkies and phone party lines.
Thank you so much Chris, I really really enjoyed watching you create this beautiful and stunning painting. I think black and white is always a great deal more dramatic than coloured ones. I love ❤❤❤❤ this one too. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤
I completely agree that just using black and white can really help push the mind to find new forms and to explore more depth. I personally draw in ink and graphite most of the time. It's the best thing in the world.
Thanks for sharing, Miss Betsi! It's amazing what we discover and how we develop our art through limitations. I just watched one of your videos and love your drawings!
@@chrisloudart thank you for checking out my work 💕. I didn't expect that, but it is very much appreciated. Your video makes me want to go grab my water soluble graphite sticks and just make a big abstract drawing. I think I'm definitely going to do it 😊. Keep an eye on your alerts. I will be tagging you. Thank you for the inspiration.🙏🏼
The white collage paper turned into a human skull wearing a striped bandana on its forehead. I know you are trying to stay abstract, but I think you should develop and emphasize the skull.
Loved the black and white piece with the collage. It has inspired me to try limited colour which I think will encourage me into making better use of mark making ideas.
Thanks, Nicola! It will definitely cause you to focus on other elements of your art. I find working with black and white is both intimidating and invigorating at the same time. Good luck!
This was really fun to watch. I love black and white. Would you consider doing a series of black and white.. with a hint of one additional color? Thank you for sharing your art and techniques.
Great fun watching and listening to you. So glad this came up on my feed and I can now subscribe. Looking forward to exploring more videos! I've been painting for a while now and still not done a black and white since color is what motivates me but I know I need to learn more about composition and value by practice it so maybe your video will get me going on it. We'll see!
Thanks so much, Becky! I admit I don't paint as much in black and white as I should, but every time I do I wonder why I don't do it more often. I've committed to only painting in B&W this week and have learned something with every piece. But I'm also excited to get back to painting in color. Thanks for watching!😊
Would love to see a flip through of this or any other sketchbooks of your abstracts. I bet it’s really satisfying to look back and see the variety of paintings you’ve created with your limited timeframes.
Also wanted to mention I’m getting bird’s nest vibes with this composition. If the small circles were black I wonder if I would feel the same. Very interesting!
I like this! I am one who usually uses color galore! I tried to use black and white once...it was a black background with a white horse... I simply HAD to add color so I put a small mark of RED on the mane of the horse. Color always wins with me...but your black and white is very nice, I will try it again in my journal with paper and charcoal maybe! 🙂
Thank you! I agree, I'm a big fan of using color. With that said, I find using only black and white to be a challenging but useful exercise. I relate it to closing my eyes and focusing on my other senses to help experience the world around me.😊
😊I did do a black and white abstract in my journal...and I added a wire sculpted horse....and a bit of English red on the horse! However, after I thought about it, I have a few black India ink drawings on white paper that I never added any other color to! 😊I passed the test!! Lol Thank you for your videos, I needed help getting out of a rut I felt I was in. 🖌️🎨✏️🖌️✒️🖍️🖊️
Btw - love painting in Black and White - think it expresses so much depth. It’s my favorite photography as well Ty for showing both of your art work - both show so much ❤
Thanks for the shout-out Chris! As much as I love black & white, I only have a handful on my IG feed so maybe tomorrow I'll do something with b&w and circles.
Fantastic to be watching you again. Never actually done b and w ...and i love the idea of collage. So... also on my list of warm ups. Your first one gripped me most in 3rd orientation. Not sure why. There were several really lively knife strokes too... thank you as always for the inspiration.😊
Fantastic to be painting again! I saw your B&W painting on Instagram and loved it! So engaging. You have developed such a strong sense of painting with texture that adds so much to your work.😊 Always excited to see what you paint next!
I'm really enjoying the black and white. Giving me an idea to use my pottery tools. I appreciate these prompts so very much. I get so many ideas from you.
I'm always surprised to see how you pull these through their metamorphous into absolute gems. In design school, we had to work in only black and white for one year. It was torturous but oh, so valuable - had to earn your colours. p.s. I too saw a birds' nest. Tomorrow, I'll see something else.
Thank you Chris for sharing your thoughts as you created you art, I really liked it and I'll be doing the challenge I'm interested to see what I come up with. Cheers!
Thanks, Dorothy! I used Liquitex acrylic gel medium. I agree, sketchbooks have become such essential items for me to have on hand for so many reasons. I put a link to the gel medium I used in the video description. 😊
