i have to say seeing a push back from the worlds largest passenger jet from this view is amazing....i wish Wilbur and Orville wright were here to see this 400 ton jet........AMAZING
A fantastic video just shows how useful the TBL tractors are and mighty impressive, more skill in moving large objects correctly and safely than driving at speed any time, these are the big boy's toys.

A "super tug" as it is called lifts the nose. A regular tug uses a tow bar. Not all operators have super tugs and use the good old tug and tow bar method.
Reverser inop is quite common and you still need a tug in that case; not to mention the debris that can be blown back to the terminal if you doing power reverse. I am not even sure if power reserve is certified in the FCOM
@@dennischen6127 Some T-tail aircraft like the MD80 etc. have been known to use powerback instead of a tug at times especially in the USA, however as you mention the risk of FOD being blown at the terminal, ground crew and other airport vehicles outweighs its benefits, not to mention the possibility of the engine ingesting FOD and blasting it at the plane fuselage if the engines are wing-mounted like most aircraft when reverse thrust is used, hence why it is often reduced to idle at 70kts and then stowed off at 60kts during landing.

The tug operators have a pin, that they insert in to the Steering column which effectively cuts off the ability to steer from anything except the tug. Its called a Bypass pin. Disconnects the steering from the plane itself. There are some videos that show push back, where the technician has to physically walk out and display the pin to the pilots that the "Bypass" pin has been removed. It's usually to keep taxiway Alpha free as it can get pretty busy with aircraft going to and from the international and low cost terminals. If you go and park a big A380 on it for 5mins it will create quite the traffic jam.
