New Mexico Young Actors has been a vital force in Albuquerque since 1979. Our
group first performed at the KiMo Theatre in 1980 and, 44 years later, we have over
100 students enrolled in our program and an annual audience of 15,000! Our mission
is to develop an appreciation of theater in our region through performances of plays
and musicals for children by children. Each year, we produce two musicals, four plays,
and a summer Shakespeare Festival. We perform for children at our schooltime
performances and on tour at local and regional schools, and all of the roles are played
by actors between the ages of 9 and 19!
We are proud to say that at New Mexico Young Actors, we are a TEAM. We focus on
Teamwork, Excellence, and Attitude to create the Magic of Theater. If you or
someone you know is interested in joining our team, we are always ready to welcome
new young people to our program. We offer theater classes for all talent levels, from

Originally captured by the French fairytale collector Charles Perrault in the late 17th
century, versions of the tale of the cleverest cat, Puss-in-Boots, have delighted listeners
for centuries. A charming trickster, Puss winsthe King’s confidence, earning the hand
of the princess for her penniless master, Tom. She also defeats the terror of the
countryside, The Great Ogre. All of thisis accomplished with nothing but her wits and
a killer pair of boots. Our production of Pussin Boots,set in Old Mexico, pays homage
to the spirit of Antonio Banderas and The Legend of Zorro. Just in time for Cinco de
Mayo, we hope you enjoy the show! ¡Olé!
