these are all amazing but let’s talk about leslie kritzer’s quick change in beetlejuice from delia to miss argentina. i know it’s not an on stage quick change but she has 3 minutes to paint her face and put the green bodysuit on and the rest of the outfit. it’s truly amazing.

I’m surprised no one is talking about the Fiona one, ya I know it was the movie musical version but that actually happens in the show. It just amazes me!

An Ireelevent side story: Yesterday I was singing and thinking about my dream roles, and I happened to be singing "Let it go". I thought to myself, "Playing Elsa would be fun", but I told myself "Nah, I'm black, it would look weird" so I moved on. But seeing the girl at 0:50 really just made my day. I would love to see a backstage change of Sophia in beetlejuice. From changing to the red dress, the yellow and the netherworld dress. If you have seen the show you will know the time between Sophia changing are VERY QUICK Also in beetlejuice she has to wear the black dress and long skirt under the dress so how do they get that whole dam thing off in like 40 seconds???

Have y’all seen how many times the first quick change fails? It’s so hard to watch and it hurts inside to see it.

How in the hell does the shrek one happen , so confused

I saw the Little Mermaid on Broadway at the very beginning of the show’s run. I remember my mother watching and being like, that is not the actor who plays Ariel/Eric. That is a double,” any time they would hide the actor’s face while the actor floated around while becoming human or while being saved from drowning. Lol. I later found out that the did the same trick with Boq in Wicked and Fiona in Shrek and the Witch in Into the Woods and the chick on the fireman-style pole in Legally Blonde. Like, it just works. lol.

I don't know why but I really like the spinny costume changes. It's always magical to me. Like a plain, boring dress, and a twirl, and BOOM.... beautiful gown. ❤

Boq in Wicked always amazed me. I later learned that it’s a body double already in silver makeup and that the body double lip syncs Boq’s last bit of dialogue in the scene, which got pre-recorded or something.

When I was a freshman in high school my choir went on a trip to see a tour production of Cinderella, honestly i wasn't that excited because i was thinking "its just cinderella I've seen this story so many times who cares". The first quick change she has going from the rags to the gown literally made me burst into tears it was so magical, now i have a huge soft spot for cinderella

Reminder that backstage quick changes on Broadway and other theatres are done by a crew of people who are underappreciated. Leslie Kritzer had a team of people for Beetlejuice. Rob McClure has two dressers for Mrs Doubtfire. They don't do it alone. And quite a few doubles are used.

How did Princess Fiona from Shrek: The Musical manage to fully dye herself in a moment. It's not just the outfit change, but the makeup that amazed me most of all.

Costume changes on stage always fascinated me because they are so damn cool.. One of my favorites is Squidward putting on his tux jacket during "I'm Not a Loser'' in Spongebob the Musical

elsa's dress transformation- Imagine being up on stage in a coronation gown, singing your heart out, then you look a little girl in the audience in the eye. You reach the transformation and allow yourself to catch and pull off your overdress, revealing your final gown. You see the little girl's eyes light up and in that moment you know why you wanted to become a Broadway movie actor.

The legally blonde quick change at 1:15 isn't even really a quick change. it's just a different person. I have no idea how they manage to have someone there and ready but it's 100% not possible for that to be a quick change.

as someone who has done the Fiona quick change, as well as help pre-rig or preset many other moments like these, this kind of stuff is the most satisfying nerve-racking, and challenging things I have done!

Laura Osnes has another great costume change in Bandstand as a nod to her role in Cinderella... her outfits are gorgeous, and it takes place in the middle of a swing-style number with Corey Cott, so 👌

0:56 they did this poor Elsa wrong. That wig is awful and they didn't bother to remake the nude illusion part of the costume to match her skin tone, they just gave her an outfit clearly made for a white woman so you get that awkward cut off neckline

I've personally always loved Donny and Julia's quick changes in the beginning of Band in New York City from Bandstand. Sure they're not the most extravagant, but I find them fun to watch and they fit in with the scene transition very well

1:28 i saw broadway across canada do Aladdin and jafars quickchanges were amazing!!

I saw Frozen on Broadway and I SWEAR THE CHANGE FOR ELSA WAS SO FAST- it was literally in half a second...

So how the Elsa dress quick change works is that there is a string underneath her coronation dress so they turn the stage lights down and the person playing Elsa will pull the string and open the coronation dress like a jacket and the ice dress comes out. How Elle’s quick change worked was that the dress underneath the white one were connected by magnets and the Delta Nu’s would pull it off and take it. I don’t know how the Delta Nu that says “Wait for me” ‘s quick change worked though.

Quick changes amaze me, I was backstage ready to dance in the nutcracker when this dude runs in from the stage and struggles to put on tights, slippers, and a crown on the floor lol. He played like 5 parts, it was crazy

I think the Cinderella/Wizard of Oz type of quick changes work better than the Frozen type. They feel a lot more magical to me. Like the two examples at 1:36, It looks like the first dress is actually transforming into the second one. Whereas Elsa's first dress being thrown or pulled off to reveal the second one doesn't feel as magical? It's impressive but it looks like what it is, someone taking off a top layer to reveal a bottom layer rather than one dress turning into another dress.
