People who are like "we already saw the three bears in the original Shrek" seem to forget two things. 1.) Shrek is always altering its background characters to fit the plot. The Pied Piper for example was in the first Shrek, but is completely different when we see him in Shrek Ever After. The witches are also pretty neutral in Shrek 1, but by Shrek 3&4 are all villians. 2.) There are MULTIPLE talking animals of all sorts all over the world. These talking bears here, don't have to be the same ones we saw in Shrek 1. In fact with how far away Puss is right now, it makes sense that these are entirely different talking bears than the ones we saw originally.

They did the same to Rumplestiltskin (probably spelt that wrong). In Shrek the 3rd he appears in the pub where Prince Charming was recruiting all those fairy tale creatures, yet he appears in Shrek Forever After looking completely different

I think they are different. In the first Shrek, only the dad bear and his son survived. Lord Farquaad killed baby's mother, as we can later see her skin in the castle.

The Shrek franchise isn’t stranger to revamping background characters if they’d fit the story for a new film (a good example is Rumplestinskin like that other person mentioned). Given how that bear family in the first Shrek had its Mama Bear turned into a carpet we can safely assume the bear family we see in this movie is completely unrelated.
