Thanks Chris for the tutorial on replacing motors on older Athearn diesels. I have a few and need to upgrade motors and gear boxes to get the "growl" out of this units. They are still classic workhorses on the layout.

I like the cat... I have a milling table that I put on an older Craftsman (it's most likely older that any of us as my Dad bought it and I am 70 years old). I love to use it on builds because it is so straight forward. I just mark the parts, place the part on the table, and mill. With the X and Y axes it is a brease. I just wish you had one of these for the older Athern Blue Box engines - the ones that had the pressure fit motor mounts that usually get tore up in the process. Found you by watching this weeks Patterson pod.

Damn ,I messed my locomotive up trying to do this. All I had was a high-powered drill and a hammer.

I just subbed came from Ken Paterson. I have an old blue box ac4400 that I would like to update would motor work on that? Thanks John

Good video but I don't see the point? The original motor was perfectly fine and an Athearn replacement would drop in with no issues. Why would you want to Jimmy an LT1 Engine into a Ford fiesta? Good idea if you want to make things hard just to do so.
