Her 1st language is Norwegian (born & raised in Oslo, Norway), followed by English, Swedish, Farsi & a little Japanese & German. Now that she is in LA, she is learning Spanish. She was 9 yrs 2 months in this, but it wasn't released until she was 10 & she is currently 17, turning 18 on Jan 10, 2024. This was all her arrangement of this Screamin' Jay Hawken's original from the 50's. His photo was on the candle she had made to honor him at the beginning. What a great choice for a Halloween reaction! Angelina Jordan was 9yr 2m old when she recorded this. The writings at the beginning are her instructions (nicely put) to the band leader, because it is basically Angelina's rearrangement of the original song by Screamin' Jay Hawkins. By the end of the session, the band called her "The Boss". Even at that age, AJ spoke Norwegian, English, plus a decent level of Farsi and Japanese (her grandparents' languages), and at age 12 in a concert in Japan, she sang some Japanese songs. She is also Norway's youngest ever published author, at age EIGHT. You need to react to her live outdoor concert performance of "What a Difference a Day Makes" at age 8, in front of about 2,000 people; and at the same age, outdoor, her singing "What a Wonderful World" as the soloist for the Nobel Peace Prize presentation ceremony in Oslo. At age 10, her live concert performance on "The Stream Gir Tilbake" (Norwegian TV) of "Feeling Good" is my favourite ever performance of that song, eclipsing in my eyes even the great Nina Simone. I can only say that this girl - now a young woman of 17 - will keep on shocking you.

AJ is Norwegian and speaks the language natively. She was a young 9 yo here and 17 now. Grandmother was a child prodigy and recognized AJ was also one when AJ was found singing a Whitney Houston song in her crib at 18 mo. At age 6 she is recorded in studio singing various songs in English and reading the music sheets, the songs were all challenging adult songs. BTW, she is self-taught, family did not want anyone putting constraints on her creativity. AJ was walking around with a tablet selecting songs to listen to on a tablet when she was 2 to 3 yo, listening to jazz masters and learning to sing while learning to talk. Her music education began by listening to her grandmother play music around the house (probably pretty constantly and before she was even born?).

Angelina was nine in this video. She wrote her book, “Between Two Hearts” at the same age. She also became the youngest Norwegian citizen to have written a book and it be published. She speaks four languages, plays four instruments, she wrote four songs by the time she was twelve years old and she has been writing the arrangements to the songs she covers since she was eight years old. When she was six years old she covered, “I Who Have Nothing”. She is singing the song, in English while she is reading the adult level lyrics, in English. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on RU-vid. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Thanks for your reaction! She is only 17 years old today and from Norway. She signed with the label Republic Records just 14 years old, I think we can safely leave the promotion to Republic Record. Marketing will start when her full album is released later this year. There's only one EP with 6 songs she's released from RR now, and they haven't started marketing until the full album is released!. Republic Records know 100% what they are doing? I think a lot of people don't realize how much Angelina has done in her short life (17). She performed FIFA AWARD song, and performed in front of 40 000 people only 11 years old invited by Norah Jones. She was also specially invited by Quincy Jones to perform on his 85th birthday in the O2 arena / London. And so on goes the list... She has over 250 songs on RU-vid with cover songs and many originals. Angelina also plays piano and guitar. The truth is that within a year or two she will be the artist for the big occasions. and not a "bare belly plastic artist" who tops a list for a week and is forgotten just as quickly. It's unreal like her, from a very young person, she choice to use her incredible passion and understanding through music in a splendid way, especially for these legendary songs. The song doesn’t fit Angelina. Angelina fits the song. She doesn’t sing in different genres-she inhabits them like no one else I’ve ever heard. She’s not showing off here. She’s giving us old school blues today because she’s honoring the original genre and vibe of this song. Angelina is simply the best singer I’ve ever heard. She has given me the best versions of songs I’ve ever heard from her very early childhood to now at 17. Blues, jazz, ballads, power ballads, r&b, soul and more-all done with respect for the genre, but all unmistakably Angelina. Just listen: any age, any title, any genre.

How do you know ? :) Well her mother Sara heard her singing in her cot at 18mths - a Whitney Houston song - and found it so beautiful she recorded it... A snippet of that video was included in a Norwegian TV documentary about Angelina that was quite well known to her fans.. but they had more and very recently her Grandmother Mery released a longer version and it is quite remarkable.... There could be no doubt about Angelina being an amazing vocal and musical prodigy: she continued to push herself to get better and better, and started to badger her mother to enter her in Norway's Got Talent from the age of 4 or 5... Sara held out until Angelina was 7 when she entered her: she won the entire competition at the age of 8, with 46% of the votes (I think there were 10 finalists left)... She is something else entirely as should become clear from the comments you get - not just "another great child singer" but something much more...

Needless to say, Angelina went on to win the 2014 season of NGT shortly after her 8th birthday. The family was bombarded with requests for performances, interviews, and record label offers. They turned down 90% of the requests, as they insisted that Angelina should enjoy a normal childhood. That didn't stop Angelina from performing at select engagements around the world, singing for Heads of State, and even Barack Obama. She's spent time and worked with musicians such as Quincy Jones and Alan Walker. She first appeared on American television, The View, at 8 years old. Angelina auditioned for America's Got Talent The Champions at 13 years old. She made it just up to the final selection of the final 5 when she dropped from the competition. AGT's designated "Super Fans" didn't carry her over into the final 5. The web blew up when she was dropped. At 14, Angelina signed with Republic Records. Republic gave her complete artistic control as well as control over the performances she would make. She turned 17 on January 10, 2023, graduated from high school, and has embarked on her professional music career. Her first EP under Republic Records is aptly titled, "Old Enough."

Why does Angelina sing barefooted? Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz," amongst many other names. She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio performance. The story is that while living in the Middle East, at 6 years old, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself, "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside, so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them, which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them. Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true, you have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.” Later that day, 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there, I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.” From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need.

Why does Angelina go barefoot Based on the true story of when she was six years old, Angelina met a homeless, shoeless girl. After they talked for a long time, she gave the girl her shoes and vowed never to appear on stage again wearing shoes until all the world's children had them. Since that time, Angelina has always performed barefoot in public.

Upon recognizing (around age 4) that Angelina was something special, her parents set out to avoid tbe lure of showbiz and allow her to have as normal a life as possible but still have opportunities to perform to live audiences. She attended American in Norway pre-school and elementary school, so has been exposed to Engish most of her life. Started singing and piano lessons at four. And world travel occurred during summers. The moved to the USA to start high school was planned and timed by and with agreement by the entire family. When the CEO of Republic Records personally signed her to a contract (at 14), it was with the understanding that finishing her education was the first priority, so no school year concerts or tours. Covid prevented any of that, of course, but she completed school this summer and is now able to devote all her time to her passion.

She is a genius; she could spell long before she attended kindergarten, and she arranged this song just for her, the band director was reading her directions for the band at the start of the video. She was born an adult.

And now you know why we're all thoroughly in love with her. Not only is she amazing and sweet. But she was already great as a kid too, which is entirely unfair. Nothing we can do. 9 yrs 2 MO here, and 9 yrs 6 MO in fly me to the moon. Which is entirely different from this, already a beautiful versatile artist at 9 😂. FFS. Neither were released immediately on youtube, so some don't know her ages on them, but from insta posts and info back in the day we can put her at those ages for those songs.

With over 200 videos on RU-vid you have a long way to go, and I hope you will do many more reactions to her, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on RU-vid, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. This is Angelina's tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below, (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted. (g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song. (h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time. (i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word (j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying. (l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella! Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

At 9 years old, I thought that making farting sounds with my hand under my armpit and flapping my arm was cool and that girls had cooties. Angelina is incredible and a prodigy. Puff puff pass 🙌✌️

I love your honesty about your child. I grew up in a day and age when my grandmother would tell anybody and everybody that I was not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I was of course 8,9,10 and on and on and on.

That was fun. You ladies can't deny that there was something in your Halloween candy that wasn't intended for children. 😉 A few weeks before this recording, Angelina turned nine years old and was still nine when the music video with this horse was filmed six months later. And yes, her artistic self was 27 at the time (or maybe 30). 🤔 The three of you also look very young, probably too young to be familiar with the original (released in 1956). Ladies in this video she’s nine years old, she was born January 10, 2006. She speaks and did speak at the time of this recording four different languages composes her own arrangements and plays four different instruments that I know of she is a true prodigy child, and a genius.
