Putin cites 'defence of the motherland' in Victory Day address 

Russia's leader says the country’s troops were fighting “for the security of our homeland Russia” as he spoke at a military parade on Monday marking victory in World War 2. Putin has denied that Russia is at war with Ukraine, instead calling the invasion “a special operation”.
