@@olufemiajibowo4618 I am quite sure that Oleksandr Syrskyi is the one responsible for this combined-arms plan and the supervision of its execution. I have no doubt that this part of a much larger offensive with the accent on manoeuver. Expect maximum flexibility.
The Ukrainians won't need more drones or other weapons to attack the Russian military base in Lipetsk, because there is nothing there any longer. Apparently 700 glide bombs were destroyed in the Ukrainian drone attack. Lipetsk was about 250 miles from the Ukrainian border. I would imagine that the Ukraine is prepared for a counterattack. I wouldn't want to be a Russian helicopter pilot providing close air ground support. Attacking fixed Ukrainian positions could prove problematic. And, if the Ukrainian forces take shelter amongst civilians in Russian residences, that could be problematic.

The Russian army is not very 'mobile', whenever Russia's army is forced to move around, instead of behind prepared defenses, they have serious problems. Ukraine could inflict serious losses on Russian forces trying to take Kursk back.
There were some reports that Ukraine monitors the convoys coming as reinforcement and takes them out systematically. "Come to daddy, sweetie!". WUMM! :)
@@nonvervalseinstein I doubt they want to go deep. 30km, perhaps 50. Long supply lines are a bad idea. A 40km wide buffer zone so that Russia can't shell Ukrainian cities would already be great. But it remains to be seen whether Ukraine can or even wants to keep that land. The side effects they have already achieved, even if they retreat tomorrow, were IMHO already worth it.
The real take on this incursion is that the Russians are on the back foot and the biggest problem is that they have VASTLY SUPERIOR SATELLITE COVERAGE AND INTELLIGENCE. This makes Russias response very limited.
Putin talking tough still because tough respinses are beyond his power. Ukraine are not murdering as they go. Shortly, the Russian people will notice this and will start to doubt what Putins regime are telling them. This was another one of Putins mistakes ( which he didnt learn anything from). Allthough Ukraine is small er, russia is running out of men at a faster rate. Same with weapons and eco. And if it makes a wrong move, Nato will disarm russia within 2 weeks. Russia will fall in 3 years max. Putin might die earlier.

@@weirdo1060 Don't you think a lot of planning and preparation went into maintaining supplies? This countermeasure has gone through extensive planning. Some of the best military minds of the West are likely involved along with Ukrainian experts in working out ways to defeat Putin.

This is actually an annihilation. This was pure idiocy by ukraine and their nato advisors (who have been terrible at taking ground throughout this war) to commit 5 brigades into russia proper where they have no entrenchments, fortifications or local support and where it is impossible to resupply them. The largely foreign mercs who were sent in will never return home and ukraine have now highlighted their lack of strength along the front, where it is now known their force is thin on the ground.
It was exactly this type of isolationist attitude that helped cause WWII. What happens elsewhere in the world DOES matter, and if we don't help our allies eventually we won't have any allies left and only enemies. Our rights and freedoms and prosperity here at home would not last long.

@ira This wasn't a matter of Russia "allowing" Ukraine to advance into Kursk but simply a lack of Russian forces in the area. Putin boldly and foolishly thought Ukraine would never attack Russian lands so he chose to use most of his forces in Ukraine leaving this area very poorly defended. Now Putin has a problem that is very difficult to deny but he is indeed trying to downplay this as much as possible
The stupidest military PR campaign of Zelensky. Which delayed the negotiations indefinitely. Ukraine is already suffering heavy losses in equipment and people there. Russia has significantly more resources. These are the convulsions of a dying man and direct aggression against Russia, which everyone is silent about. And this means that Russia, according to its nuclear doctrine, can very well use nuclear weapons. What negotiations can we talk about? On the contrary, after this invasion, the Russians have united even more around their president and have become even more hateful of the puppet government in Ukraine. Moreover, the Ukrainian troops are engaged in looting there. They shoot civilians.
