The only thing I'm surprised about is the talebans' ban on photos and videos. When they came in power, they seemed to have camera phones up and filming and they were posing for each other. Oh well, maybe it's one of those rules that only apply to the other people 🤷‍♂🙄.

A regime where 1/2 of the total populasion (women) is banned from work&education makes it almost impossible to develope into a more modern and better society..

The origina of the Taliban were from ethnic groups of the former Soviet Union. In fact the Taliban was founded about the same time as the breakup of the Soviet Union. Though I thought Russia used to support the Northern Alliance group in Afghanistan which was against the Taliban when U.S. Troops were in Afghanistan. So not sure what is going on now it is very strange.

The unsaid here is what has Putin to offer the Taliban to get them to be physically in Russia and in front of media???

Using them to commit crimes in the western countries, this is an easy one to figure out, even though in Russia it is a crime to deal with these people.

Of course you understand why, Ivan..., we all do. Putin wants (needs) Afghanistan, the Taliban, to help provide Russia with material and possibly human support to fight his invasion into Ukraine. In return, Putin gives them technological help in their development of weapons to be used against the US and other democratic nations. It's frustrating that the citizens of Russia don't stand up to Putin and his mafia oligarchs, but I guess I can understand their fear.

Simple, befriend is better than being an enemy. Spread love, not hatred.

As a naturalized American, I'm saddened. Not only for the situation ordinary Afghans are in now, and the new Taliban "partnership" with Russia 🤦‍♂🤦‍♀🤦 ... but also for the fact that the US helped create the Taliban in the first place (See Charlie Wilsons War). Russia was already engaging with the Taliban towards the end of the US/Afghan conflict. Paying bounties for confirmed kiIIs of coalition forces (unproven - but given recent history - likely). I'm not sure which was worse - allowing the Soviet Union to occupy Afghanistan (which could have delayed the fall of the Soviet Union and thanks to Afghanistan's natural resources, could have led to further expansion of the Soviet "empire"), or arming the Mujahideen - and then leaving the country to it's own devices after - with a power vacuum readily filled by what eventually became the Taliban. I think the US (like several other times in history) made a grave mistake by not working with moderate factions in Afghanistan after the expulsion of the Soviet Army to create a pluralistic government rather than what we are left with today. In reality this may have proven futile due to Afghans' deeply rooted tribal culture, but there was little interest in doing so by the West. This led to a bloody civil war where the Taliban came out on top.

All videos from street life in Afghanistan shows men and boys doing everything - Carrying, selling, cooking, shopping, driving, it is insane. And you see some women - waking around - free from all these duties. They are excluded in one way, but also exclusive in an other.

Ivan, you should read Caravans by James Mitchner, Afganistan before the Taliban. It appeared to be a really interesting place. Putin is either looking for allies and ignoring the cost or he is looking for resources. Afghanistan is very mineral rich because of the Himalayas.
