Multiplayer Monday inspiration here? Portal cars to race with/demo derby with? Portal on the nose to eat the other racers as you race laps or something.

What do the portals do to mobs? Like the robots or a glow bug or a woc? I would love to see that!

To answer your portal one-atom-at-a-time thing. It depends but probably not. A portal is usually thought of as a like a doorway or a window that physically connects two places. So probably no disintegrating. Teleportation on the other hand. Almost always: They scan you, complete annihilation, and replace you with a 100% identical clone based off that scan.

Do a multiplayer Monday race where you have to eat objects at different points, would be pretty interesting.

If this mod is fully functional in multiplayer (each player can have their own portals) You could make a sort-of demolition derby out of it. Or one vehicle with a portal chasing and devouring the other player's vehicles. Event ends when the players are teleported to the holding pen/observation area

I don't know how the mod works, but I think the reason why you weren't retaining momentum on the portal jump was because of the vector difference. Portal retains relative velocity while Scrap Mechanic is keeping absolute velocity. The difference is that in Portal if you're traveling towards the face of one portal, that ends up being retained 100% the same relative to how the out portal is facing. So you traveling towards equals you traveling away in portal. In Scrap Mechanic, it's retaining an absolute or fixed velocity meaning you were falling into the portal from that drop, but that meant you had a great downwards velocity when you hit the portal up top instead of it translating into a through/outwards velocity. It's the whole perspective of things. In Portal up is generally up, down, left and right are generally constant, but forward and back change based on the direction that the portal's facing. In SM, all directions remain constant meaning you can't change downwards momentum into anything else besides more downwards momentum. The portal will not change the direction that momentum is carried. I think a fun Scrap Mechanic Multiplayer Monday would be something like a kind of "battleship" game. You have 1 shooter and 2 ships. The shooter is segregated off behind a wall while the other two have bit of an open court. The ships place down explosive barrels and a seat on top or behind of that barrel and sit there. The shooter then places a portal on a wall facing the opposite direction and then they have a higher section on wall that they place the other end of the portal on. They fire their spudgun into the portal in front of them and it's basically kind of like battleship from there; hit or miss as the shooter zones in. But how did you not test the portals with explosive barrels or nukes? That knowledge would have opened up so many more possibilities. We need another mod video ASAP of this.

Multiplayer Monday idea: Imagine you have a car with a portal on the front like you already did, but instead of having the other portal on the back of the car, you put it somewhere else entirely. What I'm thinking is that you have a relatively small area that the players have to cross on foot to reach a goal on the other side, and there is someone in a car with a portal on the front and the other portal be back at the start of the challenge, so the driver has to chase down the players and keep resetting their progress for as long as possible. You can also have some safe spots for the 'runners'. There was a style of GTAV custom game with something similar, but instead you just died and respawned if you got hit by the cars that were jumping sideways across the straight runner's platform. Another similar idea is that you could try to catch as many Wocs as possible within a certain time frame, with the same car/portal idea and the other portal going to a cage of some sort. And you don't even need to build a large arena for this idea to work, you can just generate a completely vanilla terrain world and set a few dozen Wocs free, then wait a bit for them to wander around, and suddenly you have a weird version of Hide & Seek.

with the portal concept being so well known and standardised across games, i wonder if before the portal games existed, if the portal concept was as popular. as in, "have on here and another one there, and you can scratch your back without having to reach behind you"

Spinning portal sawblades would be great. The portals being the swablades erasing everything that comes in their way and sending the debree flying in every direction

I can't believe you didn't make an infinite fall loop (ie. 2 horizontal portals facing each other (distance doesn't matter, though preferably probably relatively close (but far enough that there is at least room for your entire character between them) And yeah I would LOVE to see some MM with portals

You know those blind boxes you put your hand into?? Yea, that would be kind of cool. Could drop people in a bottomless pit, could drop them in a reward, could drop them in the middle of a horde of farmbots, just imagine the possibilities.

If the portals work on mobs, you could do a game where you put a portal on a car and another above a holding tank, and see who can catch the most of that mob.

You can build an small snow removal, the one that scoops snow form the front and throws it away on the side

So fun! But missed a ton of things, what happens when driving into a destructible tree? Bots in portals? Wocs? Wocs eat corn through portal ? Corn survive? Shoot bot through portal? Maybe more!

Ok, this has potential. But it's missing too much to be perfect. A few things the mod needs to be perfect: Orienting the camera/character after exiting a portal If you enter looking at the portal, you should always exit with the portal behind you. Carrying momentum through You should be spit out at the same speed you went in The previous two can be achieved with a non euclidean geometry mod, would also allow you to keep structures from being destroyed. The maker could potentially make destroying creations optional. Portal size scaling Bigger portals for bigger creations And Extra portals and portal linking. Make it able to shoot out more than two portals, and put a connection tool dot on them so you can manually link them together, that way with multiple pairs they won't get crossed, and so multiple portals can lead to one single portal. And going into one that's connected to multiple portals can spit you out randomly. Yes, I know this isn't the place to put this, but I'm already watching this video so I'm just going to put it here. Even though the mod maker should already know these things......

Check dr. Pixel's mods I'm pretty sure she made a portal mod that works with vehicles. Could be fun to compare them

2:57 depends on what kind of portal you're talking about, if it just teleported matter it would get vaporised down to the quarks, if it literally connected space it would work just fine, the same way they work in portal(the game). One other interesting thing to note is that a real portal would be spherical, a 2d version of this would be folding space, cutting out a hole in it and connecting space at the edges of the hole, you'll notice that the portal is circular, scale it up a dimension and that circle would become a sphere with the same physics as the 2d portal just in 3d

If its compatible in multiplayer with multiple sets of portals.... Do a gladiator vehicle fight... Where essentially u gotta "eat" ur opponents last man/vehicle standing is the winner

Try experimenting with explosives! Also, what happens when you put a portal on a platform And try to push that platform through another portal

Definitely a cool mod.

A portal is more like a doorway. The car would never fit since the doorway is too small, but you might get a corner of it to poke through, though it would still e connected to the car. When you're thinking of disintegration, you're thinking of teleportation, which does not involve the use of wormholes - what a portal is at a most basic level - 'merely' transmitting someone's atoms to a new location and reassembling them, like a TV does an image.

Would love to see more "Scrap Labs" productions! Experiments are entertaining, and dude dun made a pretty darn fun mod.

Hey Scrapman, something you definitely should have tried out is igniting a bomb and then putting in through a portal. Would be cool to see whether or not it would still explode.

Multiplayer monday, with cars demolition, 6 wheel limit, 2 portals on the front side by side, if you each get unique portals, if not, an arena with a big swinging arm with portals on either end.

If objects aren't "real" after being portaled, maybe you could try placing both portals on the front of your vehicle to increase the "mouth" profile and hopefully the spew shouldn't effect the consumption of more material as you drive forward.

You forgot about the famous "Infinifall" where you have two portals directly above eachother and you walk into the one on the ground, so you get shot out of the roof into the one on the floor and this keeps going and going whilst building up more and more speed...

That getting squished between the two portals reminded me of one punch man taking his hero test (sideways jumps)

I'm pretty sure if you got crushed between two portals, you would get infinitely crushed. Also, if the machine is strong enough and your boxed in you could theoretically become a star under all the pressure.

The portals appear to be able to fit on a panel smaller than the portal itself, which means you can pass a portal through itself.

multiplayer monday idea here maybe? portal gun olympics. you havent done that much with mods in this game and havent done a olympics type MM in a bit so i think it could be cool and nostalgic.

This type of portal is most like similar to a worm hole. This means there is no space between the portals so if you went through (assuming you don't notice the portal) it, you wouldn't know that you did.

Multiplayer monday idea: Everybody builds a short obsticle course for a car with a porttal undeneath , so that it just eats the blocks underneath and another portal spitting out the blocks in the back, to race each other on it. But ask Mr. Lag before.

You need to try to pass one portal through another!!! Building a wall just bif enough to place a portal, and another portal perpendicular to the first one, being push with a piston towards it.

Your button activated car gave me an idea. What if you had it to where in multiplayer Monday, the cars would go automatically and then you would have to use a turret to shoot out the road for the other cars (or their turrets)?

Could you put both portals on the front end of the car, for more coverage, like venn-diagram chipper headlights? Can you drop an object that has a portal on it, through a portal? Can you put a portal on an arm, like a tennis racquet, and spin it like a sci-fi end mill? Could that make a tunneling vehicle or weapon? Portals on extra long helicopter blades?

You should try making some escape rooms with this mod :D

Maybe if you put the portals on some blocks that don't have collision, it will conserver your momentum when moving through the portals. I think that the blocks that the portals are on are removing your momentum as you go through the portals.

I don't know if a portal golf game could be cool, but, already exists a FPS with portals, the name is splitgate.

I think you lose velocity because your body hits the ground while being teleported so you hit a physical obstacle that stops you. The portals are very thin and they float a bit off of what it's on it seems.
