Adding honey to the yogurt is life!!

Honestly I haven't found a packaged deep conditioner that works for my hair better than banana, avocado, and honey blended together. I'm still searching for a store bough alternative because I'm tired of mixing stuff up myself.

I so feel you. Most store bought conditioners are full of cheap ingredients that don't provide enough moisture or slip for type 4 naturals. I love banana and honey for my hair because it moisturizes hair better than any conditioner hands down. However I recently found Naturelle Grow on etsy and she makes awesome conditioners, and you can get a customized conditioner made as well.

I like Eden BodyWorks' Jojoba Monoi Deep Conditioner, usually put coconut oil on top for added slip. I usually have to mix in other things with my conditioners, but that one is really good.

Dad, add honey and use full fat yogurt. You can also add TeeTree Oil if you want to heal the scalp. Be sure to add a leave in or deep conditioner after shampooing. Strangely, I use beard salve shampoo (Cremo brand-Target) to shampoo my hair since it cleans my scalp very well and leave my hair highly moist preparing it for my conditioner. My 4C hair and scalp no longer feel tight post wash, allowing me to run my fingers through my hair afterwards.

An additional benefit is a lactic acid will clean your scalp. Btw, I've noticed a difference between zero fat, 2% fat, and 5% fat. The best was 5% fat yogurt which left my hair softer and moist requiring less additional product over time to remain moist. My scalp doesn't itch when I need washing like it once did. I had a resilient patch of dry scalp patch at the top of my head which is now gone with the lactic acid exfoliation.

never tried the greek yogurt, but years ago (on monthly basis) I used the eggs (mixed with conditioner & some peppermint essential oil for smell) and loved it. I loved the avocado equally as much. They both left my hair shiny, feeling soft, and I had close to no shed hair. my hair seemed to retain more moisture. yes the eggs were messy, but didn't stink

I've done onion juice( which really did help with my scalp itchiness and helped nourish my hair follicles for growth, I had to mix in a DC or wash with a very fragrant conditioner to remove the smell) , avocado, egg, yogurt, fenugreek, banana, ACV. That was in the beginning of my journey. Now I'm just down to the occasional ACV rinse and yogurt (w/grapeseed oil) lol

I was curious about using banana in my hair after reading about it, but I had no desire to waste a perfectly good banana on my head full of dead protein. Plus, I heard horror stories about little bits of banana chunks for weeks afterwards. That said, I tried jars of baby banana food as an alternative. I added some to regular conditioner for a deep treatment and used some mixed with warm honey as well, both with great results. Thanks for sharing.

Once you mix the egg into all the other foods and oils you can't tell there is egg. My hair is SUPER coarse! I do the full fat greek yogurt with the egg, honey, molasses and 1 really rippe banana; leave it in my hair for an hour. Then I rinse with COOL water--don't want to "cook" the egg. Shampoo or co-wash and WOW, my hair not only feels fortified, but quite soft and manageable. You should try it. It does not stink or anything.

I'm really trying to venture outside of man made products so I loved this. I mean I have several conditioners now, but once they're gone that's it. Right now I do add honey and tons of oils to my deep conditioner. I have tried banana. Loved the smell, but hated the leftover chunks. I'd have to sift the mix next time. Oh! If I have time: Greek yogurt + avocado + avocado oil or olive oil + honey. You need to use a sieve so you do get any lump missed by your mixer. Honey is great but it bleaches my hair so I stopped using it I don't want to lose my natural colour.

Avocado by itself or That same Greek yogurt brand you have, that I also buy, blended with it is an Awesome Combo, and now I do it every time I wash. I don't shampoo it out though, I just rinse it out with water and follow up with my normal Leave-In and moisturizers.

I freaking love your videos. You're hilarious. Greek Yogurt is great for hair and skin. I use it with honey and sometimes ACV. I put on my face for a weekly mask every now and then. I did try mask with Avacado, Banana, Honey and Olive Oil but I blended it together and strained it. It defined my curls and made my hair super soft.

Great video. I appreciate those who take a scientific/research approach to hair care because I'm sick and tired of folk on youtube putting all this false and inaccurate information out here about natural hair care. It's ridiculous. I've always liked banana and honey for extra moisture but was afraid of trying yogurt because it might be too acidic for my 4b LP hair. And yeah, eggs and mayo?? No bueno.

Good suggestion for the creamed coconut..i bought it on a whim and i grated it and put hot water into it lol. I need to try your version! I've used mayo and the smell (and on food) is disgusting,never again and the eggs didn't really do much for my hair. BUT...i do think avocados and bananas (electric mixer or blended) are excellent for moisture and detangling, but i opt more for avocados bc they aren't as fleshy and in` my experience are better detanglers (also thickeners). Bananas are cool too but those are the culprits in leaving bits in your hair.

I've used eggs and mayo and my hair came out very very shiny and strong. Mainly when I was relaxed. I've used it as a natural and it's a challenge getting the egg out of my hair. The best moisturizing food that I've used is a mix of fenugreek, avocado, banana. The day I used that concoction is the day I realized I had curls. I big chopped and never looked back. BTW fenugreek powder is what I used and it is also hard to rinse out of my curls. My new best friend is the Aussie moist 3 minute moist deep conditioner. Game changer!!! God answered my prayers when he created that deep conditioner. Yes it was God!!!!!😁

Going to have to wash in a couple of weeks then. I don't think it'll last a month lol. I like using raw neem honey is my staple as far as food for hair. I've done the mayo with organic mayo with no sugar additives the smell is more mutable that that's only once every blue moon if my hair ever feels dry (which is rare given my regimen) but the neem honey I faithfully add to my DC.

@xaphire6m.860
@xaphire6m.860 8 лет назад
I agree, you have do proper research before trying alot of this diy stuff on YT cuz alot of these women are just trying stuff they saw someone else on YT do and nobody really knows the facts. I use banana in my hair but the secret is to use a banana that isn't under ripe or too ripe. Also, blending it with oil and honey gives the mixture the chunk free smooth texture you need. You can use it as is gently warmed as is, or mix it with other things room temp if you like.

I did it for months and although it was a few years ago, it left my hair with a chronical odour. Now I can smell all that mix of food everytime my hair is dirty. T_T
