The solar specs state 16amp at 18.8v which is 300watt. At 14.5v "normal charging voltage" you should be seeing around 20 to 21amp from a 300w pannel in perfect conditions.

Yea but concerned that old mate making the video has no idea what he is on about and spreading false information at 12v this thing should be pumping 25 amps ramping down to 21 amps when charged at 14.4 volts

So you purchase an 800$, 300w solar blanket, set it up on a cloudless, hot sunny day facing the sun and you're happy getting 215w out of the panels, 85w shy of it's claimed rating.

TBH, the panels delivers 200w ish instead of 300w, it is 65% efficient under those conditions but the Manual says 16a which is equals to 210w at 13.5 v. Anyways, It is not a good product, there are other panels delivering 80% or 85%. Like your videos but this one goes directly to the BIN. Cheers

The 16 amp is a reference to the current from the panel to the charger. The voltage the panel should deliver this to the charger at is about 19v. 16amps x 19v is your 300w rating. The solar charger should convert the 16 amp 19v to anything from 12v 25amp to 14.4v 21amp. The product is not performing as advertised

Yeah you got this 1 wrong..300w@18.8v is 16a..300w @ voltage of your battery will be different...so eg. 300w ÷13.4v =22.4a ...that panel at your battery voltage should be at least give you 20a but it won't because these types of panels are not very efficient and will maybe spike to 300w but never stay there long

Just want to say. its advertised at 16A at 18.8 volts which is 300.8 watts. Technically you should be getting 22.22 amps at 13.5 volts and 21.42 amps at 14 volts if it was putting out what it states. This panel is another scam in regards to its output!

He is taking the reading off of the 12v side of the system after a loss of efficiency going through the DC to DC charger, also solar panels work their best in cooler temperatures. So if he tested the voltage and amps at the solar panels I'm sure he would have 18V and 16A or possibly less because the panels are hot.

@@KurtisPape The panels should be putting out 300w OR MORE as other brands do. This is regardless of the solar side or the battery side. It maxes out at 215w when through the MPPT. If i was getting 215w from a "300w" panel well mate, ide be wanting a refund. Rubbish!

@TV Photography good luck putting solar panels on your house and actually getting the rated power, even in optimal temperatures. A 5kw solar system will never put out 5kw, your lucky to get 3.5kw in optimal conditions.

They look great and the numbers sound good but I can't help but be curious about the watts, is the advertised 300W a bit misleading? I mean you were in direct sunlight, in fact the conditions were "best case scenario" in your words and you only achieved barely over 200W.

I would like an panel on top of the canopy instead of putting out that panel every time Got 300 watt on top of my Iveco van and never have to look at it and it runs an 75 ltr fridge/freezer what runs 365 days a year Daniel

That’s not too bad. I have a 300w kickass and have had it upto 265w in perfect conditions… but they are approx 50% heavier and take up a fair bit more space.

I have a Hardkorr 2 panel portable Crocskin unit I bought a few years ago, it works very well and if you accidentally walk on it it won't break. Can't remember the wattage but it provides 6 or 7 amps in direct sun. It beats a mate's cheap Kings one that's twice the size :)

Thanks so much for the test! Really great output! Have you also tested the performance when the panel is partially in the shade? I'm quite often camping in the Dwellingup region where the campsites are in a forrest and partly shaded - it keeps you busy chasing the sun during the day to get optimal charge :D

215w for $799 is seriously crap facing into sun - can yuu do a review on the Mobi 350w blanket for $240 as i expect it to maybe do 200 to 250w at best anyway

I'm confused. I have a 400W Ecoflow panel and it gives me 375W (or more) midday and hot. You're showing a 300W panel in "optimal" conditions and it's only giving 200W. Is this common?

In the video you say it’s outputting close to the maximum 16amps rating of the panel, this is not true , it’s rated for around 16 amps at 18.8 v , you took the reading from the 12v side so in reality the panel was only outputting around 10 amps at 18.8 v

But they don't put out rated output. Supposed to be 300w, but it's only 2/3 of that. That 16A is at a lower voltage, resulting in way less than rated power. Are you on their payroll?

I've been using very cheap solar blankets, advertised as 250w that pull in about 3a through the DCDC charger. Your last video on these convinced me to bite the bullet, and invest a decent amount in some solar panels. I've been testing the panels in the yard, and pulling down 13-18a without any trouble - battery at 100% as the sun sets. Used your discount code to buy them as well, which equated to free postage.

Thanks for the review. Looks good to me Compared to other similar priced folding panels these look the goods for price per output. Always going to get people complaining, but the fact that you could get two of these light weight panels, take up barely any room in your car/caravan and pump out 32amps is pretty appealing to me.

So much misinformation and poor understanding in this comment section. If you're gonna state something as fact, make sure it's correct first. These panels making 200ish watts is pretty much what I'd expect from a device like this but a reputable solar panel, or even one that's not just inflated in its marketing can hit it's rated output pretty easy I have a 160w panel from Aldi. The pwm that came with it was replaced with a victron and I have seen over 165w in the right condition and it regularly gets 155w even in hot weather (over 30c ambient.) So these ones only hitting about 70% is not that great. But, this style of folding panel are pretty much exclusively like this. I've never seen one that does output it's rated power so I guess it's just become expected. How disappointing.

A 160 amp battery would take 10 hours - it's very simple maths. Your turn - your 100AH Lithium good quality battery is at 68% charge - how long will it take to charge?

Doesn't add up! Panel must be only producing 13.5 volts at 16amp to give you the 215 watts that's terrible for $800.

Hey mate, all readings after the MPPT solar regulator are right there on the screen so no guesswork neccesary (see 2:06). 13.37V, 16.05A, 215W. Keep in mind compact solar blankets aren't as efficient as solid panels (the price of convenience), and these have outperformed quite a few others I've tested.

The 13.5 is the battery voltage not the panel. The panel is supplying 16.1 amps 215 watts so the voltage must be the same. If it was higher say 15volt 15vx16.1amps you'd be getting 241 watts. Anyway good luck with it!

Your video is misleading, 16a is the output from the panel, you should be getting 22a after your dcdc. I would be going back for a refund, 215w from a 300w panel is not a good result.

It seems that the misinformation is not a fault with the 300W output from the panels themselves. The stuff up is with the description that it is a 300W "kit". There is no way known for a "PWM" solar charge controller to convert the panel output into a 300W charging current, as the PWM unit just clip the panel voltage off at the required charging voltage and waste the rest of the panel's power.

I disagree to an extent. Some manufacturers out there bench mark their solar panels to 1000W/m2, iTech by the looks aren't one of them (I think hardkorr for instance do). The most the sun can produce in perfect World conditions is around 1365W/m2. Typically, these mono cells in thin layer form such as I'm blankets are around 10-11% efficient as opposed to their other forms such as glass panels at around 20-23% (a lot of companies state "up to 23%" which is a generic value for quality roof top stuff). Since these panels are around 2m2, you can expect an output of around 220 to 300W depending on ambient conditions I.e. temp, time of year, lattitude/angle, etc.. with the 300W unlikely (2*1365*11%= about 300W) or more like 220W bench marked against a more reasonable 1000W/m2. They look nice, but I think there is better value elsewhere given the $799 price tag. That's my opinion anyway, quick calcs based on area are telling me 220W is what to expect.

Brought the 300 watt solar blanket. It only puts out 145w. I Will never buy anything from a one store wonder. It’s too hard, to get the solar panel fixed. Will now have to buy an additional solar panel, to replace this useless itec one, will go to BCF. Itec, technical support, is pathetic, no customer care, skills.
