I've decided to put the brakes on Project Little Irish… quite literally! In this video we explore the different options available to you if you'd like to upgrade the stopping power of your Porsche. I discuss the usual route including simple pad and disc upgrades through to braided, stainless brake lines, performance fluid, before revealing why I decided to go for a GT3 master cylinder upgrade. The video shows how the guys at Wrightune did the upgrade master cylinder and servo upgrade, before Chris at Wrightune answers a range of FAQ on the topic of aftermarket brakes.
For more information on Wrightune, visit www.wrightune.co.uk/ or call 01491 826911.

Best upgrade I’ve made to my 996 was the pads, braided lines, and track fluid. Good stuff!

Great sensible advice. So many get carried away with big brake kits which have zero or worse effects if lines arent braided and decent fluid used and serviced

I L-O-V-E this kind of content. Definitely an upgrade I would consider if I had a 996 (which is still not decided). THX and LIKE!

Lee this is definitely one of your best videos yet, well done. Curious though are you able to post the part numbers for the master cylinder and servo? Cheers

Very nice. I did Sebro slotted discs with Ferodo Racing street+ pads. Did the stainless steel lines at the same time...but very curious about the GT3 master cylinder

Good informative content, thanks. Chris should have his own channel! My 996 is a distant memory, following my question on the Q&A a couple of weeks back the engine is dropped and we're no further forward.

Stainless steel braided lines is something I will probably add to mine with the next brake fluid flush.

I’ve done the on my 99 c2. Great bang for the buck. Much better pedal feel.

Super great info! Was there any modification needed for the 997 GT3 m/c to fit the C2? I've looked up the forums and an adapter might be needed?

Nice video. Can you tell me what the difference in diameter of de master cilinder piston was?

First time commenting, great video as always! I have one question though, If you want to stop quicker, why not use wider tires?

Is DOT 4 better than higher number DOT? I use the Motul RBF 660 (DOT4) on my 964 and Endless RF 650 (DOT4) on the 4RS.

What if you have a 997 w PCCB brakes? Can you still use the GT3 master and what about pads?

Aiming for braided lines on my 997, and possibly the ECB Yellow pads. Lee - has the shorter brake pedal travel affected how you heel & toe, viz. corresponding throttle pedal position?
@christianpratt

Doh! Just read your earlier reply on this. 👍

Another great video Lee. Now the pedal movement has reduced, how does this change heal and toeing?

Still nice and easy for H&T, Toby!

Thanks for this video, very helpful. Quick question; does the GT3 MC upgrade make it harder to heel & toe due to the reduced brake travel? I am considering having this upgrade done on my 981C but I've read that the brake pedal sits higher and, combined with less travel, makes H&T much more difficult. Interested to hear your experience with this?
@9WERKSTV
@9WERKSTV Год назад
Thanks for the kind words. H&T not affected in the slightest; still super easy and natural, I do it all day.
@flat6croc

No. A firmer pedal makes H&T easier, not harder.

The GT3 master cylinder is c great upgrade, but braided hoses are snake oil. Go drive an air-cooled with standard rubber hoses but a healthy braking system and you find a really nice, hard pedal. Likewise, fit the bigger mast cylinder to a 996 with standard rubber hoses and you'll also get a nice, firm pedal. I bet you couldn't feel the difference when you fitted, but the difference with the big MC was very obvious. QED.

You haven’t increased the cars braking performance, instead you’ve only changed how the pedal only feels to the driver.Does 10lb of foot pressure vs 14lbs with the old really mean you can stop quicker? Im not convinced. Nice ride!
