Belive it or not, EVH got me interested in a Vox. I read somewhere that early in his career he was collecting any ac30 or ac15 he could get his hands on. But then, no explanation as to why he was doing this. So I took a shot and played an AC15. I pushed it so that I could control the gain with my volume knob. And I heard it. The articulation and responsiveness to your every touch, causing gain and screams from just your pick attack. The bass strings hit hard and ring beautifully, the treble strings sing softly or scream. I believe this is what Eddie wanted but with more much more gain.

I wanted an AC15 because I only play around the house. My brother’s store had an AC30C2x12 in stock. Turning it up makes me feel like my innards are being microwaved which you might think is a bad thing at first. I am looking for a lower wattage amp for the living room, but the AC30 is a beautiful sounding and looking piece of furniture…and cat tree.

Lol an AC15 turned up half way is pretty brutal too. I would recommend an AC5, maybe 10 for home use

@@firemarshal2629 I have an ac15 and it does great in my little apartment. Without a master volume it wouldn’t be usable though. Just having one 12’ speaker makes it a lot less brutal in a small space

"you can hear every single note in the chord" yes you can! Very good demo and wide variety of tones, awesome playing, as usual on your channel. Try a VOX with a 12-string, A Tele, or any Gretsch with Filter-Tron type pickups.

Its clear to me now...the guitar I need to fit perfectly with my AC15 is a Gibson SG with a P90. That Ibanez sounded pretty badass as well!! 🤘

I own an ac15 and play it pretty quietly in my small apartment and it is great. Someday I’ll let it stretch its legs in a different setting and I bet it’ll be great then too

Great review and video Dagan! Love your channel and reviews! I love how you played Fender single coils, Gibson P-90s and Humbuckers etc through it so we could all get an idea of how different types of guitars sound through it, brilliant! I've been looking at getting a nice tube amp and has been looking at two or three different ones . I mainly just play at home and once in a while getting together and jamming with my good friend . I think you have helped me make my choice and it looks like the Vox ac15 is going to be it, your video really helped. I'm still going to try it out at the local GC. Here in the states. I have heard and read a lotnof good things about the Vox amps. I play mostly classic rock and classic British metal as well as some bluesy stuff and Ventures for the clean sounds so I think this amp will fit the bill so to speak. I take it this is the standard AC15 with the greenback speaker? I have heard some people say that the one with the blue alnico speaker is better but it's also about $400 more then this one in the states. Thank you

Dagan, an AB-Y Switch would make your life a tad easier! But none the less, very nice to see how my new AC15C1X might sound with my guitars. BTW you can “jumper” the two channels’ inputs.

Dagan, do you think valve amps like the AC15 C1 shown here will be extinct 10 years from now as amp modelling effect technology gets so advanced and cheap they seem to take over the market? I'm talking Fractal AF3, Helix, Kemper etc? The prices are very fair on those multi fx amp units and there currently being used by guys like The Edge, Steve Vai etc (the AF3). I am wondering if buying a valve which I like better will be counter productive as this technology becomes extinct and users of valve amps get left behind the digital world that constantly evolving. (This tablets, cell phones , internet, DAW's , FRFR units, Monitors, PA systems etc). I need an answer if you think valve is better than Muti effect amp modelling Fractal and why?

Master all the way up. Use the channel volumes...none of the Poweramp kicking in..this amp can sound so much better than this.

I went to store and tried Ac15 and ac10 . I wanted to use the natural distortion without using a pedal or or having it turned up too loud . Yes I used the master volume etc I couldn’t really play the ac15 loud enough in the big store to achieve this without causing a serious noise nuisance so I went for the ac10. The ac10 can get a nice raunchy sound at lower volume levels . Saying that I only use at home and if I was gigging I would of got the ac15 at the time

@@pablo9364 I had an AC10 for a while. I’m more of a fan of of 12” speakers and the normal channels on Vox amps so I eventually sold it. It was a good amp though, hope you enjoy it!

I've owned one for about 5 years now, and I never use the top-boost channel. Too fizzy on the high end for me,.. the normal channel is where it's at.

If it’s a Vox AC15C1 you’re playing through try using the normal channel - everybody usually goes for the top boost, but on the 15 it cuts the bottom end too much. Put the master volume on full and adjust the normal volume to the level you want, then turn the tone cut fully clockwise and work backwards until you find the sweet spot. This is the best way to get the sound you want from the amp. Keep in mind though it’s not a chugga amp, but it does the classic rock and 60’s to 90’s rock and pop thing better than most other amps. There’s a lot of reviews that testify to it being a great amp, but like every other amp it’s not a one size fits all. 😉
