At 62 with one kidney and high blood pressure because of one kidney I wish I was on quarantine but I have to work at a VA hospital and still go to the laundromat every week. But on the plus side i still am working. I'm appreciating every single day of my life right now and thankful that im still seeing the sun come up every day. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed for anyone ever. I say my prayers every night for everyone and thank God every morning.
First time in my life I have been stuck at home going on a month now. This sucks, but on the bright side I have guys like you making videos and helping me pass the time of day. Thank you Sir.
I had a trailer come off and it sucks , broke lite off tractor and bent a few things . I feel your pain . LOL got to love cutting fire wood and working in the woods . been home for over 3 weeks live in NY STATE it is getting a bit scary down here I live in farming area and now have 8 in my neck of woods with coronavirus. small town and small hospitals , hope for the best but i think in for the long haul . stay healthy and safe thank you for your videos it helps pass time and helps more then you know, God bless you and keep you.
As always Love to watch your channel NB88. I love how you go about daily chores & the reward of the day Bacon, Eggs & Coffee. Thats my kind Off Grid chores, no stress & enjoy wilderness. Take care my friend. Aloha from Hawaii
Bacon & eggs. I had that for breakfast today too. Although not quite as much. U are in a great place. We have been in lockdown for nearly 3 weeks now. We haven’t killed each other yet & we are still talking so I think we are doing well. Stay well in these mad times 😁
Alan In these mad times we all need a sense of humour & we have that. We laugh a lot. Usually at me but it’s all very good humoured. Life is good. Take care 😁
Nothing better btu-wise than Maple. My butt was clenched the whole way back to Camp. You know what an escape your posts are to those of us trapped at home, right? Stay safe old man.
Man you have a dream life! I love your videos so much! One day, i’ll buy a land and build a small cabin! You are an inspiration for me ! Keep your good work going!!! 👍👍👍
My wife and I wont get up to our camp until early May (hopefully). So am isolated in NE Ct for a few more weeks at least. I just bought a MS391 and love it so far. Have bucked next year's wood,4 cords, with it with no problem.
You're still plowing through the snow. I mowed my lawn today. I'll take winter's like this one every year. No virus in my neck of the woods yet. I'm still working. I was looking forward to a vacation.oh well. Great video stay safe.
Thank you 🙏 again for these great videos, I’m working at home now because of the corona. It’s always pleasant to get notified for your new videos posted. Regards from the Netherlands and stay safe.
Hello there ✋😁. I’m not sure if you have ever tried it but after you cut a stump... go around it’s four sides or whatever you have access to and take a 12” scalp from the center off the outer edge to the ground level... it makes the center higher but if you are driving along you don’t hit the edge of the stump you can go up and over them...that’s how we always left them... pick up the technique when overseas.... the 391 is a wonderful saw hidden behind that horrible muffler... I firmly believe that after the muffler mod I literally had another 30% more power out of the saw. It pulls a 32” bar in hardwood...wouldn’t oil it obviously but it’s made all the difference with the 25” rollomatic on it! Keep an eye out for a good small speaker magnet that fits on your bar between the chain rails... cut down a fiberglass snow plow marker and two part epoxy it to the magnet... you can clamp it up by your powerhead and as you walk down the piece of log your marker with the orange or whatever your preference tip will mark you 16” or 18” or whatever you prefer to cut to... you can snap it off your bar and slip it through a belt loop on your 4 O’ clock and it’s not in your way... but when you have a section to buck up... pop it on a go to cutting it up fast and it’s less twisting motion. A small 2” speaker magnet out of a junkyard speaker is the absolute best... and you can also get a couple measurement sticks out of one plow marker stick...so with a little shot of orange rattle can paint on the tip you can make one for a buddy or neighbor while you’re building them! Definitely scores some points with it slipping into the belt loop to make it completely out of the way when it’s not needed... my magnet is strong enough that I don’t make my marks then remove and cut... I leave it up by the powerhead and just pop down the log hitting perfect even lengths every time... I put a little hook on a piece of that fiberglass pole too... so I can reach into the middle of the back of my truck and grab something and not have to climb in too... with a 16penny nail epoxied on the end of one makes mowing along the road nice because you can spear the litter and trash so you don’t hit it... instead of being mad that people litter I make spearing it and game while mowing the grass...LMFFAO! Remember Happiness is a choice...just like all our other emotions are... Especially with the isolation of Covid... we need to keep ourselves in good spirits and make it a game and not take it so seriously... as many people are experiencing depression from the lack of family and friends.... Enjoyed your video, Sir!
100% stamp of approval on the bacon. I had a stack of pancakes, bacon, and Dunkin's for breakfast. I feel blessed too, as my routine is about the same as it always is. Checking in on my elderly folks about twice a week, and they are doing fine as well. "Thumps up" duly smashed. Take care.
They say I can't but I've been down there twice already. It's cold, being by a brook, but VT's having an early Spring.. I think that as long as I'm self-isolating, I should be allowed to travel from house to Camp. I'm not seeing anyone and not touching surfaces touched by others. I've got trees to cut up, my dude. Thanks for the posts.
Doing well! I am fortunate that I have an occupation that will always be available and ready. When I am not at work, I like being able to sit by the fire and catch up on the videos. Certainly better than listening to the negativity on the news. Thank you for another awesome video, from a fan in Scarborough
That additional workout of re-loading everything that all ways falls out was definitely worth at least two strips of bacon 🥓.... one tree stump cut...two strips... one tree stump packed out back to the house...two more strips.... Two Strips ....! might be my new mental meditation before accomplishing a particularly daunting task, in the future! Two Strips!!!
Just hanging out in rural Tenn. Only going out for food and gas for the lawn mower mostly. Only 4 cases of cv19 in our county. Me and the wife doing ok so far. Much warmer here but you may be in the best place. That breakfast you made sure looked good. . Made me hungry. .
Stump wood is always the heaviest , burn good once its dry. Hiked into my cabin a week ago , still lots of snow in the bush , 2 ft - 4 ft . Wish i could self isolate for a couple weeks to get some fire wood cut and some small jobs done before the bugs start. I'm sure you know but negative tongue weight is bad , if your ball is worn or the coupler on the trailer, your trailer will pop off always at the worst time . I collect my wood with a trailer and always put the weight forward, helps with traction too. Great video , be safe and enjoy your time in the woods.
Nice to see you break out the Stihl saw. They are both great saws and I have used both. Cannot deny that the Husky is a lighter saw. However, for myself, I find the Stihl a better fit for the sawing I do most of the time. Nothing better than working n the woods. All of us have had the experiencing of sinking in the snow. That is one reason why a good winch cannot be beat on an ATV.
Oh thank God, bacon! That is so much better, my mouth is watering like mad right now, and the worst part is I have no bacon right now! :( I'm about half a step away from being a full blown hermit, so this social isolating is just fine by me. I just wish I didn't live in town. The neighbors kids were outside all day today just yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs. I mean, it's great they're having fun, but I was ready to go over and duct tape their mouths shut! It was a beautiful day outside yesterday, and I was able to get out and work on stuff in the garage, and without a coat for the first time this year! Loved it. I have an air compressor that I've converted to run on a gas engine, and I'm just finishing up some final touches on it. Second one I've built, and I've got enough parts to make a third. Do I need 3? Nope, but they're fun to build.
Enjoyed the video Dale, good to see that you're okay and i hope everyone else is doing okay also, I know now where the bacon went Dale bought it up ! lol . Looks like the snow is going away there at the cabin some and spring is trying to get there . Take care and stay safe.
Looking at your snow, I was amazed. I have mowed twice here already. We really never get a lot of snow. We see it a couple times of year, but it never sticks to anything. Its more like a dusting. Your breakfast looked good! I like my eggs exactly like that also. I noticed that in a previous video. Doing good here, we are just hunkered down. If I didnt have yard work or a garden I would really be bored. Fixin to go on a walk in the woods to look for morels mushrooms. Another good video!
Loved the little thumb nail at the begining. Yes you earned that breakfast. Not doing to bad but a quick run to the grocery would be nice but there isn't any such thing as a quick run anymore. Only thing I really need are eggs! I ordered some but by time they pulled my order the eggs were all gone. Stay safe and well
Yes, i envy your place in the woods. but I live in the big city of Toronto and I am lucky I still drive, all most 80 but I have a place by the CPR railway tracks that is 5 minutes away. Go there and meet my old friends and talk to them from our vehicles have our coffee and what ever, spend a few hours there and then do what you want and go home. Yes I am blessed and sure happy about it.
I keep trying to tell my wife that we need a cabin like yours on a pile of land. She keeps asking "what are you gonna do with 80 acres?" To which I reply, what ever I want to. Now with this quarantine she is coming around to the idea. I should have her watch your videos! Would of been some nice to bugger off to the cabin to ride this one out. keep up the great content!! Oh and I love my Stihl saw! Nice to see you using yours. Again keep it up loving your videos up here in Alberta
Hey buddy Leo here from Cape Cod again well the friend our hospital looks like something out of the movie outbreak things get pretty crazy here store shelves are getting thin the last time I saw something like this which Hurricane Gloria out of power for 9 days No grocery stores open? This is worse ! We have a giant Invisible godzilla stomping around our town we can't do anything about it !! Happy to see your well my freind stay safe brother God Bless
It's nice to wake up and not need the woodstove. I need to cut up fallen trees at Camp but we're under a lockdown. I feel certain you're safe at Camp. Stay good, my man.
NB88 The governor says we shouldn't. I'm even more isolated than you ( old, no children) so I should be able to isolate even more. Honestly, when my berry plant order from Norse Farms arrives, I'll be seein' ya.
I have been outside painting the back deck/front porch railing...to keep away from news for a time and be productive...lol ...translated that means I've been glued to the news for 4 years and was losing my marbles...so I guess it's a good move! 🙂
Breakfast looked delicious ! ,....and all that bacon , Yasss ! But , that sure is a lot of work to do before the eating . Hate to see what we'd have to do for a beer. Watched almost ten minutes of commercials , but it was worth it to see the trailer refuse to go anywhere . lol
Had my trailer do the same thing with a load of lumber going into camp. Tighten where it clamps on the ball. Also try a little dusting of garlic powder on the bacon.only way I cook it now.good luck 👍
great vid as always and i have been there not latching down the hitchon the trailer! i would like to see how you sharpen you chains on the saws if you ever want to plug that in sometime. thanks
That trailer coming off looked like a real "if you didn't laugh, you'd cry" kind of moment. That bacon sure looked good, but then bacon is always good. Here in Victoria Australia, the blasted state govt has banned all hunting, fishing, boating and camping, even though those activities can be pursued individually, which really sucks. I hope you and your daughter are staying safe and well. Now need to get to work to finish editing my next video. Please takecare Dale and stay well. ❤
Heat my entire home of over 2500 square feet with firewood. It’s a tremendous amount of work, but you already know that. For those of us who love the warm coziness of wood heat, there is no worthy substitute.👍
Hmmmm bacon. I think that should be your intro on every video. I have a Stihl farm boss with a little longer blade than it came with and got rid of the safety chain. It's a beast but getting heavier the older I get. I have a Husky also which is really fast and light. I agree tho about the two saws. I used to cut 100 Facecords a year for many years. I also have an old homelites I always used for climbing in the woods. Safe and efficient for that use.
You broke out the Stihl! Nice! I was just out in the woods shooting a video here today, we only have a few patches of snow left here and there. The 2" of rain we just got a few days ago melted almost the rest of it away! Rivers and brooks are running high now. Oh, and the trailer coming unhooked was great! 😂 Been there and had that happen before for sure!
Hey Dale, I work at a big hospital in Central Mass. we are doing well here so far it’s not too bad we are not experiencing the same level of CV patients that the Boston hospitals are. No isolation for me I have to work, id love to up there in the woods with you instead of here. We are expecting to peak over the next few weeks
An old trucker would advise you to put the weight forward on your trailer . That gives you better traction and keeps the front down on the ball better .
I have 4 saws 2 huskys 1 johnsered and 1 Stihl. Sometimes my huskies are my favorite but my stihl has always been my old reliable. My only issue with that saw is it leaks all the bar oil out when not used. Mine is a ms 290
Hey Dale, thanks for taking the time to make another video. That trailer mishap happened to me with a car trailer while loading , forgot to latch it, tongue came up and scratched the surface of the tailgate 😡. Now for your ass chewing, it's one thing to talk about your bacon, show us cooking said bacon, but eating it in front us , that's just wrong brother! 😂😂😷😷✌🏻️ stay safe!
I am curious, I know you have a cell phone booster, can you upload videos from your cabin and if so, how long does it take? Great video and love that bacon.
I just bought a MS 391. How do you like it?? The reason I did is because it's a 64.1 cc saw without spending an arm and a leg. Let me know!! I won't use mine until winter.
Not trying to be nosy but wondered where is your property? In Canada or US in a Maine area? I thought I heard you mention both area when talking in your videos? Thanks
We’ve been in quarantine for 3 weeks in Guatemala. As a country we’re doing it pretty well. Only 60 cases. In USA more than 300,000. I think it doesn’t matter to you because you already live in isolation 😂
Husqvarna boots and the chainsaw pants I can't remember. Both are about 15 years old. Excellent quality. Any chainsaw dealer will have them. Or maybe Amazon.
Gee I wonder what the pin is for on the latch . LOL . Happened to me one time at the boat launch . Never again . If it was me I'd go and do the work first like you . If I ate that before working I'd would want to take a nap after eating that bacon .
Hi Dale. Your reaction to the trailer was great. We have to laugh at ourselves and circumstances sometimes. I don’t think I have ever heard you laugh that much in one of you videos! Made me laugh too. Everything in Iowa is plodding along. To keep my brain busy I decided to jump into genealogy research for my family. Let me tell you...I have fallen down a rabbit hole Dale! 😂. I was working on it for hours last night and I stopped and felt like I was coming out of a tunnel. I thought what day is it? What year is it? Am I still me? Jk 😂 Then I had a giggle fit when I thought “why in the world am I doing this? I’m biologically an only child, not married with no children. This is absolutely stupid! Who is going to care about this stuff”?After the giggle fit I decided, oh well maybe one of my cousins will use it. I think I need to call my Step-Dad and see if he can open the gun range. Hey we can drive separately. It’s outside and we can stand 6 feet apart while firing. It could work right?!! 😂. I hope your little girl is doing well. This has to be hard on all the kids. I bet she misses school and her friends. Thanks for the video! Take care!
Some people love genealogy, some love it too much - I know people that's all they think about. Now the range sounds like a great idea! I'd go with you. If the weather's nice I might just hit the range this weekend. I'm doing my best at home schooling but yeah, she misses her friends and stuff. This can't end soon enough. Stay safe!
NB88 well...I think I am going to hurl if I look at another Census Report. So I’m done with the genealogy for now. Good Lord save me from my own stupid ideas! Time to start my tomato plants indoor from seeds. I’ll focus on that instead. I’m a little behind schedule for that. I looked into your growing season there in Maine. I’m jealous that you really have a great growing season for things like lettuce, kale, Brussel sprouts and cauliflower. All the cooler weather crops.
NH neighbor here, didn't have time to break out the chainsaw this weekend, to many end of winter projects to finish but I did have a quick walk around the property and winter has created some work for me. Next weekend I hope to take care of some fallen trees and limbs, maybe a little raking. As usual good video. Stay safe, stay vigilant 🇺🇸 p.s I might have to sneak in a little early season brookie fishing 😊
