I think the saddest thing about this song is when Godot admits that EVERYTHING in the last case could've been avoided if he had just asked Phoenix's help
@@adamryamizard5560 If Godot had taken a plea of other's defence then she likely would've either gotten off entirely (since she's not an accessory to a murder anymore as technically no murder was committed). If not, she'd end up with a much lighter sentence maybe for defecation of a corpse which carries a sentence of about 2 years. I doubt she'd even get that much however as Adrian Andrews defecated a corpse in an effort to frame Matt Erengarde in Justice for All, and as far as I know she never faced any charges
@@commissionerwarden6347 judging by sister bikini statement during the credit it seems like Iris sentence is the same as adrian Andrews.... This is just my interpretation of what she says.
@@adamryamizard5560 And if self defence or defence of others nets a lighter sentence, while still being considered murder in that court system, Godot is not slated for execution or facing too much time in prison either
Bacon Spaceman Ha...! The capacity to feel is what renders us human. Just like our capacity to err, to feel is a double-edged sword. For every moment we wish we were numb to emotion, there is another moment we are thankful for the ability to experience sensations afterwards. What would humankind be without our perpetual cycles of catharsis? *Smirks, shakes head and sips coffee* One cannot enjoy the holy warmth of coffee setting our hearts alight without first toiling to grind the beans. That's one of my rules.
Honestly, poor Iris and Godot. They lost their loved ones and couldn’t tell them how much they actually meant to them. For Iris, especially, because he was right there in front of her all along, but she couldn’t say a word.
@@samsoneu4884 это и была Далия. Просто у Ирис слишком добрая натура. Особенно для убийства. Ну, почти. Она не позволила бы Фене умереть. Даже если бы пришлось замарать руки.
@@kodered59 Gavin doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the same level as Dahlia. He went crazy cuz he lost a game of poker. Matt Enguarde had a better motive.
@@smeshnoy8538 dude ... it was a long 12 years to find the one who will agree with me (Even if have just finished this game two months ago ) But still a great thing to see someone remember this series after a long time
KYUUTOURYUAZURA Yeah it is sad ok but not as sad and touching as bitter taste of truth and in addition this is the theme of an innocent young girl who is fooled by its family and the scars etched by fire theme is the theme of a bitch
*spoilers, don't read if you haven't beaten T&T* I was so happy to learn that Phoenix's first relationship WASN'T all a lie. It was so heartbreaking seeing him go to such lengths to defend that monster Dahlia, and that revelation at the end suddenly made it clear why: He HADN'T been dating a monster. I was hoping that they would have gotten together by the events of Apollo Justice though... Trucy would have LOVED her.
Yes but probably the producers of ace attorney had other ideas . I would like that too and a Maggey -Gumshoe in T and T and I would also like to see an Apollo - Woods pairing in the future but I don't think that this will happen either unfortunately. Oh and I have one other good idea for a pairing in hell . Kristoph and Dahlia . They both are the ultimate evil in their own time
I'm so glad someone else agrees on this. A major reason why I don't like the later games is because they disregarded the perfect ending of the 3rd game.
Iris had an awful father who just discarded his wife like nothing (and eventually threw Iris away too), a terrible mother who would go through great lengths just to get what she wants, and a twin sister who's maybe top 2 or 3 in the evil scale of all AA characters, treating Iris like trash, and caused so much death, pain and suffering to so many people. It's really amazing how she still turned out the way she was. Dahlia had the same upbringing, had the same two parents, but somehow Iris managed to stay a good person all throughout.
Let's not forget Pearl was initially supposed to be an enemy, just like Dahlia, if not worse, due to them sharing an evil mother. The only reason Pearl isn't a villain in the final game was a last minute decision to make her an innocent child because Takumi thought it would be interesting to see how it would play out
They did recognize each other in the first case godot appears where Mia convinces him to give Wright a second chance. But the way Mia speaks to him signifies Mia is only speaking in a professional manner from lawyer to prosecutor. I think that sent Godot the message that Mia didn't really want to speak to him on a personal level, probably because she knew why Godot had animosity towards Phoenix. Also Godot feels underserving of speaking to her considering he feels responsible for her death even if he doesn't fully admit to it and would rather blame phoenix. And they don't speak again in the 4th chapter... because Mia knew exactly what godot did (maya didn't tell her, but she's pretty smart and pieced everything together during the trial). Even if Mia forgives Godot, Godot doesn't want to be forgiven. And Mia knows that to save him, he needed to completely own to his faults. You can't wish farewell to the man that had the chance to ammend things but instead made everything worse by refusing to cooperate with the man that could help the most. case 5 would have never happened, if Godot told phoenix.
I think we can all agree that Godots entire known story is extremely sad. It gives me shivers every time I play the cases again and remember his story.
+nisekoi, pokemon, fairy tail desire! I really wish that Iris and Phoenix would end up married later. It would just be so poetic... Not to mention the fact that Phoenix hasn't even looked for another girl, yet has shown signs of having affection towards Iris... I'd love for this to happen. It'd bring me happiness, truthfully. I had a Dahlia in my life, but never an Iris. It'd make me... content to see Iris and Phoenix, although fictional characters, be together. Iris is the manifestation of proof that there are good and kind-hearted peaceful loving people out there, despite my inability to see past my bitterness created by my incident. In the end... I started out as Phoenix... naive... kind and carefree... but I ended up like Godot... bitter... full of vengeance and anger. What I wouldn't give to be content with my life...
+Blatantly Heroic That made me cry. I'm so sorry for you! You see I had something like that in my life. I was always searching for friends. No one wanted to be my friend. If I was lucky and find someone they would backstab me always... I never found someone though. Also the fact that love for me is like untouchable for me. I have never fallen in love in my whole life. But I really hope you will find someone out there because you need it more than I do. No... need... to.... worry.... :')
+Blatantly Heroic I know that I can't fix or erase what happened but... I want to make people happy because that's my job! It really worths it. Just don't give up hope! You will be happy one day I know it! You deserve it. The love you will get will be as much as the affection that I never had from my "friends".
SPOILERS AHEAD I love how this theme is only used twice. The first time is when Godot blames phoenix for letting Mia die. And the second is when he finally accepts he was the one failing Mia by being selfish, creating an scenario that only caused more pain to her loved ones.
After finishing the trilogy weeks ago now, I have a new favourite work of fiction and one that I would say is one of the finest examples of original creative work humans have ever conceived. - Godot, from the striking, unique and encapsulating visual design of his visor and the genius use of negative colours in his two outfits, to his sheer presence in and out of the courtroom halting everything and everyone else until all that remains is him, is one of the greatest fictional characters ever created. The most human character and yet so alien. So hard to unlock. Concealed beneath a mask and without a real name. Paired with entirely unique and unusual slow jazz and and inhuman intricate obsession with caffeine. Talking with metaphors and gobbledegook phrasing that bewilders the entire room, further accentuating his mysterious aura. Further still his presence is risen to even greater heights when you witness that he is the most unfazed and powerful presence in the room. Totally belittling the authority of the judge, standing firm against the roar of the intense criminal and immediately silencing and condescending the wicked witch with the whip that previously stood at the top of the food chain. One of his most impressive and chill-inducing moments for sure. Once you learn this strange alien man was once in fact an ordinary person that was the lover of the protagonists’ mentor and a character that means a lot to the story, the player and the protagonist, one sealed gate to relatability opens. Then when you learn of the cruel and tragic fate of that human at the hands of a vile, demented and truly evil psychopathic woman, one which completely destroys their life and leaves them comatose for five years, only to awaken blind, to the aroma of coffee and soon thereafter learning everything they had previously being destroyed, another opens. Then you begin to see the truth. That Godot is merely a bedevilled ghost that has had everything that made them the man they were tarnished. The remaining humanity within which is left to be bitter, desperately sorrowful, vengeful and guilty. So Godot, with nothing left does the human thing, not the alien thing. He seeks revenge. Because humans are imperfect and reactionary creatures that when angered or hurt, are prone to retaliate. And no human on earth has been hurt the way Godot was in this work of fiction. No human could share that broken mind. Despite the anger, the ceaseless pit of anger, beneath that Diego believes he can protect Mia’s legacy. He can shield her younger sister and cousin from the same unprecedented evil that turned his world to hell. Godot however, believes he can vanquish the evil and send it to that very same hell, relieving the burden on his shoulders and allowing him one final justice and one final victory. In the end Diego and Godot combine their goals to vanquish Dahlia and save Maya and Pearl, at the sacrifice of a third party life. Godot’s bitterness refusing the ‘Wright’ course of action and Diego’s love and nobility confessing the harsh and unfair truth. For the sadistic evil of Morgan did not allow for any victory. Using the demon spectre of her own daughter one way or another to destroy Maya, manipulating her other utterly oblivious young daughter. Godot knew and acknowledged that combined with such unforgivable evil, it was also his own torment that meant there could never be the ending Diego deserved. There were no corners left unturned and no avenues of escape worth pursuing. With that Godot was no more, and Diego was able to give himself the peace and clarity he desperately needed, accepting that Mia’s legacy was always in capable hands within his absence, and with Dahlia gone thanks to both himself and Phoenix, his purpose had been fulfilled regardless of circumstance. She couldn’t hurt anyone anymore. - This character is truly something special and their story will stay with me for the rest of my life. I have never had anything within fiction leave such a remarkable impression on me and I likely never will again.
@@tantris2876 Godot is not a well-planned character. Ace Attorney isn't meant to become a trilogy series. Godot only existed in order to make the tragedy of the Turnabout Sisters case even more tragically sad.
If Phoenix and Iris ended up together, he would become part of the Fey family, since Iris is Pearl's sister, he would be Pearl's brother in law and Maya's cousin in law. Think about that.
@@eh2587 technically they’d all be related. She’d be a Wright member, and he’d be a fey member though only by title. However this also would mean he’d be even more tied to Kurain since dahlia and iris were both related to pearls mother. Thus iris could’ve also been involved with Kurain. However they didn’t attempt to do that kind of route for the rest of the series.
@@victorhale Maya and Phoenix Wright also works too. Dahlia Hawthorne guising herself as Iris already confirmed that Maya and Phoenix Wright are a couple in a way, never parting from each other. So Maya and Phoenix is still the way to go. Iris and Phoenix pairing is bound to fail from the beginning because of the existence of Dahlia Hawthorne which destroyed Nick's view of her being a kind angel who is selfless but it is actually the opposite.
@@victorhale Maya, Dahlia, and Iris are still the descendants of the Fey Bloodline. Its just that both Twin Sisters themselves are both Hawthornes but their blood ties are still similar to that of a Fey.
I feel bad for Iris at the end. They're both taken by the father from Morgan, and yet Dahlia managed to convince their dad to "banish" Iris to the temple. And iris still gives her the benefit of the doubt when her sister has manifested into an evil incarnate at this point.
Iris kind of accepts Dahlia fate was in part her fault because she never refused her sister anything. She kept silent about every plan her sister had.and that weakness fed her evil.
This and Tragic Memories... I seriously want to cry listening to them and remembering all the scarring events everyone went through in the cases and the backstory of them.
I felt so sad when godot confessed his true intentions and love in court. I shed a tear or two at his guilelessness. Absolutely topped the game with a cherry! XD
Most. Misguiding. Picture. Ever! Now veryone thinks that this music is somehow conected to Iris, when Iris has absolutely NOTHING to do with this. The two times this music plays is when Godot is talking about Mia's death. That was the "truth" that has "bitter taste". Of course Diego is coffee addict what everyone knows, that's why they used this figure of speech.
Th3Aw3som3Gam3r Actually she has. Distant traces of beauty is her theme song as well as Dahlia's. And whether she deserves it or not it's NOT her song, it's Diego and Mia's. DToB quite fits with the mystery that surounds Iris when Phoenix met her at Hazakura, while this one is pretty sad, and not really fitting whith her kind nature, or any part of her story, since no truth about her is really bitter.
+Zero the Faceless I think the theme itself can be applied to both Phoenix and Diego. It's the theme of realization. The theme that personifies the event of one man falling into darkness after losing the love of his life, harboring unjust hate. It's also about another man who lost the love of his life a different way... through contradiction and deception. In the end, they both lost something, but went on opposite paths. Phoenix continued on, still believing in people despite his persistent belief in Dahlia being contradictory. Godot however fell victim to his own rage and hatred. In the end, Iris is the evidence that Phoenix was right all along. That his contradictory feeling that the person he was with during that time DID love him wasn't contradictory at all. Phoenix has always stood by his clients because he has an unnatural ability to read emotions and gestures. Even after all that time... he still had a hunch... a deep feeling that the relationship he had was real. This is proven even before Iris confirms this. Phoenix asks who he thought was "Iris(Dahlia)" what Dahlia thought of him, and she says she hated him. Even after all of that time Phoenix still didn't believe for a minute inside that the emotional bond between him and Iris was false. Once Iris confesses to being the true girl he was in a relationship with... everything falls into place. He then sees that she was truly the person he thought she was. ... I got a bit carried away. I started with a central point and then I went off-topic..
Just thinking about the last case in T&T makes me tear up. I can't wait for it in the anime, I just hope they do it JUSTICE!(And maybe explain more than the game did)
Can't tell I agree with You. Trials and Tribulations explained the whole trillogy's plot the best way it could. There was no better explaination. The only thing that explains a little bit more are Edgeworth's games. But! This game already was explained perfectly back then. Also, this is my opinion and You needn't agree with it.
I honestly hate how they purposely structured the anime specifically so T&T couldn't happen. No Magatama, no The Lost Turnabout. Hell, they even removed Edgeworth's fear of earthquakes!
Sadly, the anime won't have that case. Hopefully, they'll have a separate season for Turnabout Beginnings, Turnabout Memories and Bridge to the Turnabout.
It's about a month after T&T. In the third case of AAI, you can see Phoenix, Maya, and Pearl out in a boat at Gatewater Land, and Phoenix is still wearing his blue suit. Plus, everyone's ages in AAI are the same as in T&T.
It's sad to think that it was iris who had feelings for her feenie.I did not see that coming when she said you only met dahlia twice you and majority of that time you spent was with me.
And after she said that it suddenly clicks why Phoenix was acting like he did back in Turnabout Memories. Oh ok he wasn't dumb........... it ain't Dahlia.
Omg i feel like crying, Fuck. Whoever created this amazing storyline and plot and how the characters are related all together like charms on a bracelet is amazing god. You just look at it and its just so unbelievable
Agreed Iris' smile tilts her head towards the right (from Iris' point of view) and Dahlia's smile faces left. Somehow depressing songs put me in a good mood.
Many of PW's murderers killed because there was nothing left for them. Godot awoke to find his enemy dead, and Mia gone. There was nothing left. Dahlia never got to live. Her life was wretched; she was never once loved. She became dark and only cared about herself. She killed all in her path to cover her trail. Dying a wretched death, she was forever tormented for her actions. In JfA, Acro and Mimi killed because they'd lost their loved ones. The truth, no matter how bitter, must be exposed.
I like to think Phoenix visits Iris regularly at the detention center, she DID aid in several crimes her sister committed so she's going to be in the slammer for a long time. They talk about whatever, not really as lovers but the feelings are there lol.
I think the reason Iris and Phoenix haven’t got together is because she’s in prison for being an accomplice but her and feenie need to be together it’s a match made in heaven and it would make Dahlia turn in her grave
Bridge to the Turnabout's ending... really moved me emotionally. Guess this is what they mean of the bittersweet truth. Now I feel like drinking coffee in honor of Godot
To be honest i'm not sure what to think of Godot. He certainly isn't evil but he seemed so selfish. There are just so many things he could have done differently but he did not. He blamed "Trite" for something that was never his fault, and perhaps this is why everything went as it did. He wanted to prove that "Trite" is worse than him, or Mia, and that is what led to series of tragedies. Yes he did save Maya... but wasn't it his fault that she was endangered in the first place? He got to the Morgan's note before Pearl, he could've taken it away or swap it, so the plan would never have been atempted. He attacked Dahlia knowing the one who would die was either Misty or Pearl. He was stronger than Dahlia, and armed with staff, he would've been able to restrain her without killing. And after that he indeed protected Maya, but framed Iris instead. If he confessed and Maya confirmed that Dahlia possesed misty and tried to kill her, he would've easilly got out of this as it was justified defence, but Iris would've been accused of cold-blooded murder. In the end she was indeed convicted for tampering with evidence. And after all this he blamed "Trite" for his lack of knowledge when HE was the one who hid vital information from him. Yes he felt remorse for what he did, and yes he admitted he was wrong about "Trite". But i can't bring myself to fell sorry for him after everything he did.
Zero the Faceless Not only that, but he was willingly to let Maya be blamed for the murder. If he wanted to protect her so much why didn't he just confess? Yes, i don't know how to feel about him either...
***** The way I see it, Godot knew he was going to be arrested, but he wanted to test Phoenix to see if he could get him found guilty and prove he really was worthy of being Mia's successor.
let's not talk about the music for a while, but the video... I must ask myself how could this non-HD Iris image is more beautiful than the HD Iris one ?
Zero the Faceless They said that self defence is treated the same as a murder, plus he pretty much admitted to it and was 100% conscious while doing it. He's dead
I wish i could replay Ace Attorney, the whole thing. But not remember anything. This game was the best i've ever played and i wish i could replay it one last time, with no memory of it.
If I had a nickel for every time the greatest side character in Ace Attorney is called Iris I would have 2 nickels. And I wouldn't want it any other way.
Spoilers trivia . In case 5 you notice the switcharoo because Dahlia has a different smile than iris. Iris blushes and makes a shy smile, but dahlia doesnt smile until you start to piece things together, and when she does, she does her trademark insincere smile.
the connection to phoenix x iris is too strong imo yeah people just keep shoving wrightworth down everyone's throats, but there's several key things that they keep missing that shows he still has a thing for iris he kept(?) that hood iris gave him when they first re-met, even though before the reveal she potentially could've been that same vile person who tried to kill him years ago and he probably wouldn't put it back on in fear that she's that same person. its an anime only scene as well as dlc costume in spirit of justice and ultimate marvel vs capcom 3, but he still has the dumb pink feenie sweater, which is a sign of her affection to him. if anyone is wondering, he wore the sweater at the beginning of the anime adaption of turnabout big top. (i mean if wrightworth shippers are gonna keep using a top 10 couples list from a nintendo power editor to back their shippings, then i'm using this to back feenris). and finally, when wright and the others visited iris, he couldn't take his eyes off her. that's hard evidence that he still loves her.
@@tantris2876 Yeah, in an official nintendo magazine. But I heard some facts that the other couples presented in this were just a joke, it might be (or obviously be) the same kind of joke presented in here. But that doesn't bother the fans, for some reason, and they still think it's official. And lmao, I see you everywhere when we talk about that.
I finally got to this part. Where Godot confesses everything. I was just about to request this song but then I thought... wait no this dude accidentally uploaded it. You can even get the song I want beforehand! xD good job.
I kinda think that Iris and Dahlia are a representation of Morgan, there is a good and evil side and the evil side has taken over, now she lives just for herself.
the PW-series is a special kind of game. You are not hunting for points or killing enemies there's only a storyline full of surprise and you can experience it
