In this video I show how I installed the Boyesen Power Reeds. I do a step by step process how to remove the motor from the frame to gain access to the intake port where the Reeds are located. I remove, the reeds, and show you how to install the Boyesen reeds. I talk a little about why I am doing this modification, and preparing for the future mods to this pw50. @@bigair0176 yea man good stuff I seen a few. I run a automotive performance shop in Japan however just got my boys into bikes. Definitely good stuff to watch while on the road. I've just been consuming all things PW50 related. Gave ya a sub as well.

@@bigair0176 indeed my man just did a top end last week for one of the boys as his pw was older and had bore and piston damage so quick. I just started riding MX last March 9 bikes later haha. Refreshing how much quicker bike service is versus building pro cars and high end street cars.

Unfortunately due to the top end being in such bad shape I can’t say how well the difference was. But I can say if you watch my big bore install that made a huge difference. So far I have kept the stock size and put a uni filter on which isn’t in the vid but I will talk about it when I install the fmf pipes.

What is the advantage of getting a new power reed block? I know you said it’s not necessary but wandering if there is any advantage.

Just for any cracks or defects that could affect air flow. The other reason is it my warp and not be completely flat anymore. But for most part the reeds are the only part you would need for the most of the time.

Cool video I’m rebuilding the engine in my 85 4 zinger 60cc. Do you happen to know if it has the reed valve on it as well? I’m not finding much info on this quad 😅.

All 2 strokes will have reeds. Check out partzilla for online oem parts

They are the stock ones. This big runs rich stock

Nice , I have the same bike I’m having a issue maybe you can assist , it starts right up was riding no issue, now when started it idle nice soon as I push the switch to run it go’s to max speed.

I haven’t run into that problem but I would check your throttle has the proper slack first. Then check and clean your carb. Make sure the idle screw isn’t screwed all the way in. I have a vid on adjusting your carb and throttle cables.

I can hear a tinging sound when ours is at idle? Its also bogging down getting into high gear. Any Suggestions?

I think you’re supposed to eliminate the stopper with those reeds.

Not according to the instructions. So just left it. The bike runs sweet since I’ve done the big bore kit on it

Installed these along with big bore kit woke up the bike but layed it down in the yard while riding now will not start it is blowing gas out of in take side of carb Instead of sucking it into the intake

i installed these and my kids bike lost power and started bogging….. i’m guessing i need to change the jet?

Make sure it’s not drawing into air. Need a good seal on the gasket. Then I would start by adjusting the pilot screw first before ya get new jets. Mine didn’t need new jets I suspect you wouldn’t neither. Hope that is helpful. Cheers
