Mine was none of the above. I am 67 now and only few years ago I found out that I have a short term memory I think . . . Not brain damaged at childhood, I took MRI from my brain couple of times and it was normal, I was not dropped either, nor on any medications, only 10 years ago I started to have a lack of sleep. I have never been a good student although I really wanted to be and even I flunked couple years , my BS in computer science took 8 years instead of 4 years, yet because of short term memory I could never think that what was my problem. I become frozen with people questions, or if someone slap me I was not able to do anything and I get frozen in time that what happened to me just right now and I do not even get angry or mad, like time stops. I am not a dumb person yet sometimes I am supper smart. I can see things that other people cannot see. I always thought that my friends are the same yet now my roommates working for NASA and other high paying jobs yet I was mostly in customer service. I am from a foreign country being here for 50 years now and I can only use from very limited vocabularies I can never ever spell number 2 in a correct way, no matter how many times I try to remember the spelling. I do not understand football, baseball, I do not know which president is democrat or republican, I am not able to play chess or anything has to do with thinking and making decisions, I am not able to play game with people, and many many things. That was why my friends always thought that I am a naïve person and many people were played me and schemed on me, yet because the way I was presented and my looks everyone was looking up to me. I checked with few psychologist but they have not seen any one like me before so they could not help me. But now after all of these years everything is coming back to me one by one. Now at the old age I am realizing and my past is coming back to me little by little that when so and so did this and that to me was because this and that. It is like I am just waking up. Does anyone know what my problem was? I know that it is extremely confusing but that was the story of my life. Thanks

Do the unitary models also include the temporal distinctiveness model?

20:00 So far with STM if you are exposed to information, the intial section of info is stored long term, during the middle period info is forgotten and in the final stage the info is still availble only in short term memory. Function of STM: Encoding info: i.e. translating the meaninfulness of the info. The storing of info and finally the retrevial of the information.

27:20 Chunking theory. If you have 'dog' and 'gor' the word dog is one chunk of info whereas 'gor' is 3 chunks are the 3 individual letters. Hence for STM the single chunk is easier to process and remeember than 3 chunks. In experiments "XVC" are 3 chunks as they are 3 individual letters which are equally as difficult to remember as 3 "dog", "man", "hat" as these 3 words are equally 3 chunks.

As STM is limited by the chunks it would be wise to associate as much info into as few chunks as possible.

30:00 multi store model. Input, process and then behaviour are the steps. Memory stores are places where info is maintained and processed. control process regulate and control info flow between memory components.
