Yes solid 2’ all weekend I forget how much fun that place is and especially in a good half slice so many deep eddy lines and currents perfect spot for half slice!
Damn Wade you're always improving. Ive been waiting for a ripper review thats my new boat. I spoke with you before about ripper vs rewind... I ended up with a medium ripper like yourself. I couldn't be happier with my boat, but I will say it has humbled me as an intermediate paddler. That boat will definitely put you in your place. I did throw out a few obscenities watching your video 😂 ive been getting the hang of the boat and trying to dial my stern squirt in with it. Meanwhile Wade is just tearing it up like its a video game. Keep posting man. Hope to paddle with u someday. Maybe you can teach this young blood a thing or two
Thanks for the nice video. Looks like we have the same style when paddling down the river. I also like to hit as many eddys as possible and the ripper makes it so much fun. I got back into paddling 3 years ago after looking after my kids for more than fifteen years. Now my son paddles with me. It’s great! The ripper remind me of my old WS Frankenstein. But the ripper has agressive edges and less stern volume that make it fantastic to paddle. Kind Regards!
Dam I hate that the time zones are so different otherwise I would be first every time thanks for responding to my comments and making this video so quickly
Love these reviews. I just started WW this year and really enjoying it. Started with an RPM and then also got a small Newmad. But I’m looking for a boat that surfs well and will take care of me while I work on my river running skills. Looking forward to thoughts on comparing this with the Antix 2 and Rewind. I’m 6’ and 155# (bare, not paddling weight). I’m thinking one of these boats would be right up my alley. Hope to able to test a few next season.
Excellent on water review. Around 0:35 in you say "....enough volume up front to get over things and a nice tail." (or similar). Was that about kayaks or a freudian slip? :)
Hey Levi, I’d be really interested in your thinking of having a small Ripper and also large Ripper. I have a small ripper and love it. Pushing into g4 now and looking for something to take me into G4+. Maybe a bigger Ripper? I’m not a fan of bathtubs.
@@bryanwhiteaker5519 two totally different boats for people in the medium weight range. The width of the large is a fast, planing machine with some play to it. It’s just bath tubby enough for me to take it creeking, but I can also get it vert. It’s just fun to paddle. Probably not as tubby as a steeze, but similar idea.
@@WadeHarrison I paddle the large ripper but at 220ish......at your weight Wade the medium is perfect I think. Would like to see you throw around the large, see what you think?
I’ve owned the small for a while. At only 23” wide and almost 9’ long it is definitely fast. I’m just not a fan of the low knee/leg position and lack of bow rocker. Rewind seems to fix both, but sizing isn’t right for me; small is tiny and medium too big.
Wish it let me show the picture of my ripper and her dent to the bow off a 25/30 foot cliff that I didn’t time the waves to the drop correctly. Hey I was board in northern France with no big water. Not the ripper fault I must add there wasn’t enough water just the driver need for adventure. Some how it didn’t punter the bow just sucked in in incredible.
Which notches out of the 6 west notches does it come factory. I just bought a used ripper and they had the seat all the way forward and I want to get it adjusted to factory specs so I can feel it out
The last 3 is were I put it and FYI it’s very difficult to adjust Pyranha good luck doing that on the fly no way would I try to adjust Pyranha seat on the side River
Ripper more river runner and Antix 2 more playful but little slow if I had to choose one overall I take the ripper I like more that downriver flow but both are extremely good boats
I’m not sure you made this comment in this video. In other videos you have said that you put the ripper seat in the rearmost position. Can you tell us why?
@@WadeHarrison thanks. I’m getting ready to try it in the rearmost poo myself having tried the other two and not liking them. I really like my Scorch in the middle position though.
Good question I would avoid those tight creeks with a lot of pour over ledges with pins and undercuts I want a full volume Creeker for that stuff I’m Sure I will do a final thoughts after more runs in this boat and will go over that
Thanks man. I ended up ordering a Rewind based on rocker profile and outfitting, but look forward to your comparison video. Really enjoy all the videos you're putting out. Keep it up!
