When the weather is good the Pyrenees and Picos are, in my opinion, unbeatable. Far better than the overcrowded, fee taking passes of Austria and the Alps. Were you really trying to entice a 1 tonne cow to come over and see you?! 😱😁
@mrcintheuk4641 Being a farmer's son, I was impressed by the cows. Possibly traditional French Charolais. It's the bulls you need to watch! Yes agreed, fabulous areas. We will definitely be back
What a fantastic place to spend a birthday really special, and that is the way to make use of old buildings bringing them back to life why don't they do that here rather than making things listed thus restricting what can be done to the extent that buildings are left to decay .Seeing those roads just makes one realise how crowded we are on this little island too wow !!. Super well done guys on showing the various sites and buildings giving a great feel for how it is to stay in such a gorgeous place fabulous 👌👍
Nice to see blue sky in the morning, only to be hindered by best laid plans and all that, looked a nice ride despite that, though I’ll be steering the Mrs away from that Parador at 280 quid😮…
Beautiful shots and beautiful scenery. I rode the Picos route on a tour of Spain a few years ago, it was awesome. You just had to be careful about the small lumps of rock that had fallen down from the mountains on the apex of practically every corner!
@3Phils We did the Picos a couple of years ago. Based ourselves in Potes. It's a nice easy run from Santander or Bilbao. There's certainly plenty of exciting riding out there, including dodging rocks 🪨
We loved Hondarribia - and that Parador was something else! Great place for a birthday treat 👍 - you’re absolutely right - motovlogging is just a massive amount of faffing about! Great vid! 😀👍
We loved the town and the hotel was a bit special. Think Carol booked it as a bit of a treat on my birthday. You two will certainly appreciate the faff that goes into filming.
Gutted for you, that original road looked incredible. I hope people do appreciate the faffage involved, as it's certainly a lot most of the time. I read somewhere a while ago about the signs, I think it something to with the farmers protests. I saw it on another video so looked it up. Gotta love them French farmers.😁😁 What a beautiful place that Parador was, Carol certainly spoils you Richard. Love seeing these old places, and even moreso when they've been renovated to that standard. Lovely video again.
@tojj29 Yep, we were super disappointed about the road closures. We will be back. We did Google the sign thing protest eventually. They know how to demonstrate. This was my favourite Parador. Good job it was nice at that price!
It was so strange that all those roads were closed. The castle has a very nice location there and the view from it was also great. The guy that was just steering on that "kanu" had the easiest job among the crew. Funny, but the truth. :) Nice video, just like always Richard. Cheers.
Gorgeous ride guys. Got to love the sunny days. Regarding the signs, it's a way for the farmers to protest. It says basically that the world is turned upside down.
We went through France in April and saw the upside down signs. When we looked on line it said " the government tells the farmers they need to be more eco friendly one minute and food production falls. The next minute they need them to increase food production and forget the eco friendly practice. They have turned the signs upside down because they don't know if they are on their head or their arse!!
Wow what a place to stay, yes its not cheap but worth the money in my book for a nights stop over. A great place to have a walk around and explore. Thanks for sharing, I could say I am not jealous but that would be a lie.
It's such a pity the mountain road was closed but still that Parador was the icing on the cake. It was great too that you had time to show us around the old town, so much craftsmanship and heritage.
You gave us more cowbell! I hope you didn't get too cheesed off before you could moo-ve on 😂 Lourdes is very famous for apparitions of the virgin Mary and a pilgrimage destination. So many closed roads...😢 That looks like a fabulous place to stay. Terrific ❤
@NooBiker 😆😆 It was a mooving experience. We knew it was famous, but we weren't sure why. We should have stopped and explored Lourdes but we had already added distance to our route because of the closed pass. The hotel while being expensive, was very special
I flew in San Sebastian back in 2004. It's a very interesting approach because you fly through both Spanish and French airspace, so you have to switch back and forth. It's a beautiful city and is know for it's gastronomy.
@@BadMonkeyTouring We loved it there. It was super impressive watching the aeroplanes approach and land from the Parador balcony. We did find a nice traditional restaurant in town. It's a place we will return to as we have unfinished business riding the higher cols.
A nice birthday treat for you Richard from Carol! The castle was stunning & a great idea to keep it maintained whilst keeping the integrity of the castle. I've not yet been to the Pyrenees so your tour has given more of an appetite so thank you both 👍
Beautiful! Man that is some cow bells. I heard the city sign being upside down were to protest the EU emissions directive. We stayed in Castle in Ireland and it was wonderful . We judge rooms by the bathroom towels😄😄 Your castle had a humongous banquet table. I really enjoy these trips!
@@flatcapcaferacer The castle hotel was certainly special. The history and exceptional service given by the staff made it the most memorable stop of the tour.
Sally and I ended that. Shame about the road being shut. I always say given yourself time to get lost. I love the hotels you stayed in on your trip. How novel to be able to look across the bay and see France. Until next week! Take care.
@the_mad_leprechaun Thanks. Yes, that was an interesting spot. Lots of France in view from a Spanish hotel. Not sure I can keep up the editing schedule, so may not have the final Pyrenees vid ready for next weekend. Life and work getting in the way!
Can’t beat a bit of ‘faffage’, I’m an expert and regularly have to stop after just setting off. Looks a fabulous part of the world. Once stopped in a very quiet part of the Pyrenees and all we could hear was cow bells, lovely…great editing and of course great route planning.😉👍 Paradors are in some amazing buildings and locations, love them.
Wow! You’ve stayed is some amazing places. Love the fact that you are experiencing the towns and life rather than some bog standard tourist hotel. The terrace looked so cool……..
@@ianbaines9705 Our first Parador at Sos del Rey and this one were my absolute favourites. Incredible buildings and medieval towns. It's definitely worth setting sensible riding distance goals that allow time off the bikes to explore. Thanks for watching
What a fabulous location and a super place to celebrate your birthday 🎉. Who cares about the price tag when you have those memories to take away with you. The closest I got to that part of the world, was St Jean de Luz 21 years ago and my wife and I still talk about it! Thanks again for another great video.
Love your videos. I used to use Basecamp but after so many issues, took the plunge and took the My Route App errrr...route. I've never regretted it. I watched the video with the rain and was impressed by the way Carol pressed on in the wet. I salute her! I'm saving these videos and routes for future trips. Thanks very much.
@thewoodster8607 Carol reads all the comments, she will definitely like yours 👍👍 She's a star with the route planning as well. Weirdly she quite likes Basecamp. Thanks for watching and for the very kind words 🙏
@HalfManHalfPirate Yep, blew the tour budget a bit on this one! It was an amazing place. We had so many closed roads during our two days on the French side of the Pyrenees it was almost unbelievable! I had a quick look at your channel. It's amazing how many places you've been to that we've been to.
@HalfManHalfPirate No problem. I was just watching your Col du Liseran vid. We have great memories of riding there. In fact, my sticker should be on the sign in the thumbnail. It's nice to find someone different to watch on the TV. Thanks for the sub. Cheers and take care
