When I worked as a customer support for a satellite company I got so burnt out from taking back to back telephone calls, that when I was at home I hated to talk on the phone. That was the most stressful job I ever had. I can see where you would get tired of seeing and talking to people after awhile.

As a cruiser, I also collect magnets. I have ship magnets and magnets from either the port or a place I visited while at port. I keep mine on my fridge. Even though I know the magnets are often generic and aren’t made locally, they still act as a fun reminder.

Hi Lucy, I am an old quantity surveyor, like going on cruises as a passenger and will never be a crew member. However, I love listening to your advice, comments, etc. You provide another perspective. For me, almost every job I've ever had I've been offered management. Every time I've accepted the promotion, I've deeply regretted it. My current job, I accepted the promotion strictly because I was doing the work anyway so I figured I might as well get payed for it. I still regret it.

I collect Christmas tree ornaments from all the places I travel to. Sometimes it’s a magnet that gets crafted into a magnet! Each year I’m so excited to open the ornament box and revisit great memories with them. Not expensive and don’t take up a lot of room in the suitcase.

I’m about to start my first contract and I hope I love it as much as you do hahah I can really see myself living that lifestyle for a long time

I've made the Scandinavian cruise several times. And yes, it's better a magnet per country. A foot note: Norway and all the northern islands become rather expensive.

I have a different point of view about post cards and shot glasses than you. I do think both could be displayed attractively. Post cards could be put in a scrap book or photo album and make a nice coffee table book. If you are creative, and diligent, it could be a memoir of your travels. You could write notes about your visits of these places. You could also display your prettiest post cards in picture frame. Shot glasses could be displayed attractively on a shelf made for shot glasses. If you have a home bar, the shot glass collection could be an interesting focal point. They could also be used for tasting your favorite liquor. I am not saying Lucy is wrong, I am just looking at this from a different perspective. I imagine having magnets is easier to have aboard in a ship. Anyway I enjoyed the video. Thank you Lucy.

If you decide to cruise through Scandinavia, I'd recommend Hurtigruten. Smaller ships that can get in to smaller ports and villages.

I'm wanting to work on cruiseship as a hairdresser now and i have a half year training to go for my level 2, i think i may maybe need a level 3? But i know london wellness academy do training aswell so I'll probably email them to clear up some questions i have soon. However, I'm currently looking to help my wellbeing and i wondered, when u are able to do so, if you'd consider doing a 'how i look after my mental (and physical) wellbeing working on a cruise ship' video? I am fulltime on land but split between a few different jobs, however i do get days off but i have managed to experience burnout with a loss of identity and my mental and physical wellbeing has been dubious, i read online that having inspirations and icons and looking into what works for them may give you a boost to keep up with healthy habits for yourself. I've only watched your videos for a week researching about cruise ship life and i would consider you an icon because I'd love to be as strong as you and be able to work 7 days a week with only hours off in order to travel the world! So when you arent feeling overwhelmed with questions, i know probably many people who find you inspirational who think they could never do it, may find it encouraging if you shared how u looked after yourself and may go for the jobs once their wellbeing is corrected😊. I think you are brilliant! Keep up the awesomeness

How you could do Cruising As Crew while not working for a cruise line? If you get enough membership to generate sufficient income, perhaps you can go on cruises as a passenger and make the videos from that perspective. I guess that would be "Cruising as Former Crew" tho.

I had an interview with ACL for deck hand and i received an email saying they’re moving forward with another candidate. It kinda crushed me. I went from this high watching all things cruise ships and studying (writing full blown essays, pros and cons lists) all things cruise ships. To not even wanting to click on a cruise ship related video. I’ve been in the same career for 15 years (not cruise ships) but heavily related to engagement with people. And I think that’s why they weren’t interested. Anyway it hurt my feelings and idk how to kinda get back on the horse and try again. Because it is a goal of mine, a dream really that I don’t want to just give up on. Ugh. Wish me luck I guess. ❤

My husband collects shot glasses. I bought him a beautiful mahogany shot glass cabinet that hangs in his man cave. I am about to get him another one as that one is almost full.

Meaning, does your job make you stay up very late and then makes you get up very early so you only have a few hours of sleep? Or are you able to get, like, 7 hours? I love cruise ships and I love cruising. But I'll never work on one. Why? Because the pay sucks. It sucks really, really, really, bad. I'll rather make my money elsewhere and spend it on cruise ships. Better to make $20K a month then go on a cruise than make $2K a month on a ship.

Lucy, is it easier or more of an advantage to apply for an entry level job directly thru the cruise line vs a third party employment agency (Steiner,Harding, etc). Also, is there any other entry level positions, other than shops, that are closed on port days? Thank you!

Please please never do OF! It has been ruining far to many women's lives that have naively ventured into it without knowing the damaging consequences it has.

Of course it is your decision, but from a cruiser's point of view, I probably wouldn't want to be served by a person that had an "only fans" site. It is also possible that the cruise lines wouldn't want to employ staff that had these type of sites - so something to think about if you ever decide to change your mind.
