You should do your own Stuckmann Awards that have the same categories as academy awards/golden globes etc and even some new ones so that we get to know you're feelings on some of the even finer details (editing, soundtrack etc) and so you don't have to think of the shit of last year
Exactly like that but on a more deep and analytical sense thats why I prefer Chris. Thats also why I would especially love to hear what Chris has to say.
Same. And honestly, there were moments where I laughed, like the scene in which the old man is playing Beethoven through those giant speakers pointed at the room above. At first, the scene was disturbing, but I separated myself from it, and realised the complete absurdity of it, and started dying of laughter. According to Malcolm McDowell, it was meant to be a dark comedy, but many people did not understand that upon its initial release.
bulletfastspeed I also find it quite funny :P In the end scene where Alex is being fed by the older guy and the way he chews just cracks me up for some reason xD
Thank you Chris! You deserve every success you got. You represent your opinion in a very polite & convincing way and you stay honest to your opinion thats why we love your reviews. Honestly you are my go-to reviewer before I see every movie to know if its worth watching or not. I remember when The Guest was showing on theaters and no one knew this movie really but I watched your review and it was positive. And then I went to watch the movie and was blown away! After that movie I said Chris is definitely my go-to reviewer!
I'm new to this channel and absolutely love it! Love that you are yourself in your videos and that you're being honest to us. Good luck in everything Chris!
Thanks for the advice to people wanting to do reviews. I'm trying to put together a review in the form of a Podcast, and I continue to find myself trying to emulate other people rather than just talk the way I talk and finding my own voice over time. Love your work Chris, thanks for answering these questions!
I truly am a fan. My brother and I have both loved movies for a long time but we seem to have grown apart in the last couple of years. About a month ago we discovered your videos and have since been watching both your videos and movies again. The discussions have been wonderful and the reconnection is beyond words. I want to thank you for that Chris and I pray that all of your dreams for future filmmaking come to fruition. I believe they will.
Haha I lovedddd that you mentioned blog tv! I freaking loved that site, so sad it got closed down! I remember the time I was on live talking to my fans and you showed up in my room and I was like "WHAT CHRIS STUCKMANN?! I watch your videos!" Wow that was long ago back in 2011. Crazy how time flies and I'm always proud to see how far you've come 😊
Ohhh... so that explains why you don't own A Clockwork Orange in blu-ray,ok. Well, i love that movie and i watch it as much as i can, but i can see your point. ;) Another great video Chris!! :)
Thank you so much for you advice around the 10 minute mark. That's exactly what I used to tell people back when I made videos (before the youTube era) and enjoyed modest success. I was astonished at how often people wanted to know an exact, step-by-step road map to how I did what I did. And I'd always tell them, in the most general terms, find what you love... and do what you do... and to develop your own style. I also love that your wife included that question about marriage!!!
Chris, you are such a greatful, smart, honest, humble and talented person. Seriously, your one of my favourite people. No hyperbole. Thanks for being awesome.
Thanks Chris for all the cool reviews you do. Discovered your channel after watching Enemy and needed some answers. Your explanation video was the best and been a subscriber since (about 18 months) and always enjoy watching your vids. Keep on doing what your doing, and loving the giving back to the fans vids and ideas you've done.
You and the Nostalgia Critic have completely opposite opinions of The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Signs. I would love to see a video of you two sharing them with each other.
Raymond van den Bos I don't personally know him, but I hate his sense of humor. I don't find him funny, he comes across more whiny than anything else, which irritates me. The jokes that are there are shoved down your throat and/or beaten over your head, which also annoys me. His legitimate reviews come across empty, and his AVGN movie review was phony as all get out. He just isn't my cup of tea, I do what I can to avoid him. I'm a RedLetterMedia type of guy. I find their jokes a lot funnier, not so much their skits on half in the bag, but their Plinkett reviews are hilarious and informative, it's inspiring to me.
aero roger That I can absolutely NOT agree with. Doug had a huge amount of knowledge when it comes to movies, movie history and technial behind the scens stuff.
Chris you are honestly one of my favorite RU-vidrs. You are the one that inspired me to make my RU-vid channel, and I think I have become a better person because I was able to be honest and started finding a great way to express myself. I also found in the real world I was able to do so as well so thank you so much for making videos and I hope you can do many more in the future.
Wow. Glad I stumbled upon this. This was such an enlightening video. Can't believe I didn't see this sooner. I love your videos and your reviews are always AWESOME. I always look forward to seeing what new reviews are uploaded. You're actually one of the reasons why I was inspired to critique films. The way you review films are so precise, detailed, honest and at times thought-provoking. It's a great channel and I love it.
i think this channel is one of the only ones where i feel really welcomed as a viewer like walking into a fancy hotel as opposed to a lot of channels which is like just slinking unnoticed into the back of a croud around a street show
A clockwork orange and Requiem for a Dream are two movies I can't really watch again but were really good movies. Also, I'm not even a well known youtube movie critique and I get a bunch of hate just because I enjoyed The Force Awakens, some people called me a stupid cunt that doesn't know anything about star wars, and I've been a fan since I was a kid. I don't understand peoples need to have the only right opinion about something, especially with movies with big fandoms like star wars and marvel. But I like your videos because you give a thorough review, and your Star Wars Analysis video really made me a fan for life. Also, I feel inspired to go back to my movie reviews I used to do but was afraid of having angry trolls, that would judge everything. I love talking about movies and I like film so I'm gonna just continue anyway. But anyway thanks for this video really got me out of a rut. :)
+moviechic07 Ooh, Requiem for a Dream is a rough watch, for sure. Besides that, the whole idea of subjectivity is lost on all but 5 % of the film community. Apparently it is okay to personally attack someone (not that the actual attack is ever effective, but they sure try) just for sharing your opinion about an art form. It is stupid beyond belief. Also, I'd also say that the majority of these so called film "fans" have seen about 14 films in their lives, and now suddenly think they know everything there is to know about movies in general. I LOVED - LOVED - The Force Awakens. That is my honest opinion about it. But is that really a legitimate reason for slamming me and calling me a liar, fanboy or that I'm in denial and so forth? Look, if you feel passionately about film, and think that your voice not only can be heard , but also that it matters and stands on it's own apart from everyone else, then continue to do your videos. Don't care about the haters, they'll always be around.
Nils Engman Wow thank you Nils, Thanks for the words of encouragement. I really appreciate it. I mean I don't care if I don't become popular I just like to be able to discuss whatever the subject matter is to who ever wants to talk about it. I like to hear other peoples point of view even if it doesn't match mine. I'm trying to start to get back into filming and not caring what others think. This one guy commented on one of my review vids and said "some people shouldn't have a youtube channel" lol I guess this person really liked the movie Sparkle. Which was subpar at best. But anyway Thanks for making me feel better about putting myself out there again. :)
moviechic07 No worries. I personally haven't accomplished anything on RU-vid (really hard when you've had no intention of even trying :P), but I still believe that anyone's got a legitimate shot at success on YT. Even if one's intention on RU-vid shouldn't be to reach success, but rather to just to it because you enjoy it. I hope you continue and that you'll find enjoyment in what you're doing. And if you're consistent and persistent enough, who knows, maybe you'll one day be the new Stuckmann.
there was recently a smosh article called something like "scary movies that aren't horror movies" and requiem for a dream was on the list. it basically said it was a good movie but if you know anyone who can watch it multiple times then they're probably criminal masterminds and you should run away. It appears difficulty rewatching that movie is a common occurrence.
Thanks so much Chris for all your videos, I really appreciate all your opinions on movies and Hollywood. Some day I want to have a RU-vid channel of my own and you have inspired me to think deeper of movies and keep trying get a channel of my own started.
I really like your reviews, and while I also subscribe to Nostalgia Critic and Red Letter Media, I don't see anything that is copied in terms of format or style in your reviews or analyses. In fact, I think your reviews are getting better and better over time. I especially liked your Lego approach to the original Star Wars movie review, which I saw with my dad and half sister in June 1977. What many younger people don't realize who did not see the film when it came out was there was NOTHING to compare that film to because it was such a quantum leap in terms of visual effects, and being thrown into an entirely foreign culture that people had NEVER seen before.
Thank you so much Chris Stuckmann for everything you're doing. I know it's just you doing what you enjoy but it really shows when someone cares about the people who are around viewing your stuff. I have been diagnosed with depression and my anxiety has gotten so bad that whenever I leave my room (let alone my house) I just break down and cry. There is a reason as to why I'm depressed but it's personal so I won't share it but all I want to say is this, when I watch your videos I feel some hope and even happiness. Great vids man! Keep it up!
I've always wondered, in the UK we have a cinema chain where you can buy unlimited passes, which mean you can watch as many movies as you want for one price a month, does the US have a cinema chain that offers this? I'd imagine so because otherwise it would cost him a lot of money, or he might get free viewings, which I believe he as for a few films. (Apology if he answers this in the video, I've started it and paused it to watch the final of the snooker)
+madhukollu I reckon he could get the press pass thing for the movies, he is a big RU-vid movie reviewer, and his reviews do reach a lot of people, like myself in the UK for instance, no doubt people in Australia as well.
I remember sitting in my grandmas old house back in 2012 (around Thanksgiving time) binge watching u and John's videos discovering that I'm not insane that theres more people who share the same love for film as I do. You guys have done more then you'll ever know. Here we are in 2020 much luv brotha.💯🏁
Chris Stuckmann, you are just as cool and down-to-earth as you were years ago when I first subscribed. Thanks for being so awesome! Happy for you and so proud of how far you've come :)
Thanks for doing this Q&A, I watch this channel because you're honest and your opinions make me think deeply about the movies I watch and the opinions I formed about them. Keep being honest!!
Wow. Your segment on the color correcting and sound editing was super eye-opening. I have a greater appreciation for everything that happens in post now.
You really should do all the Harry Potter movie reviews! I'm on a HP marathon right now and thought to my self: Why hasn't Chris Stuckmann done these yet?? :D
Thank you Chris... It was lovely knowing everything you said... Also thanks to everyone who put forward their questions... I got to learn a lot from all... :)
I completely understand about fan reaction. My channel is way smaller but I had someone recently just randomly say, "I feel sorry for you, you dumb bitch." and it hurt. I'm not used to something like that...but I did my best to ignore it. It's hard but you have to weigh the positive against the good. I'm SURE you get way more positive comments and I do as well. That's what you have to remember :)
just remember: it's always easier to criticise or even insult someone when you don't have to do it in person and especially when you don't have to do their jobs!
+LPlandOFazul The important thing to remember is that your opinion matters as much as their's. Don't take crap like that, own up to it, explain your opinions. If you do that, no one in their right mind should ever criticize you, and that's where you know they are just a bunch of cry babies who have nothing better to do than to watch content that they simply don't enjoy.
Hey Chris, you're such a big inspiration to this RU-vid channel me and a bunch of my friends just started. You keep doing you buddy, you're the best reviewer on RU-vid as far as we're concerned.
Many thanks for your reviews, Chris. Thanks to your videos, I've discovered whole new genres of movies that I wouldn't have explored otherwise. And it's wonderful that you're being honest and being yourself - we need more people in the world like that :)
