Dear Rip , I am a quinquagenarian that weights in at 14 stone with a height of 17.1 hands. I am a vegin and cannot consume the 3.78 litres of milk a day as per your recommendation. What would you consider an equivalent amount or almond milk. Secondly what is your recommendation for daily soy and pea protein intake measuring in mole per kilogram
Yeah, at that point it’s pretty stupid. I only wear mine in urban areas or if I’m crossing someone on in the suburbs. But I swear, there’s this forest near my house I stroll through and people are in there running with masks on when there’s at most 4 people in this 20 acre forest at once.
Being an Olympic-level Alcoholympian myself, I consider that opening question important. I've been training hard since childhood to bring the gold medal to Vegas when professional drinking is accepted as a sport.
2:16 *Question for the Q&A:* Dear Ripp, I have not read the books-or a book-nor watched the videos, and I'm not doing the program. My question is: Can I do Starting Strength, but replacing squats with gallons of milk, and deadlifts with biceps curls? And in days I don't feel like training, replacing the curls with Instagram posting? What I'm really concerned with is abs. Thanks.
at 24:30 mark, it's a brilliant question and ties to everything, make an independent video with this segment it's important stuff, although I don't think you addressed it perfectly I believe the case to be true
I have found the organized movements of the Starting Strength programming to be quite helpful as a firefighter. We have to tote some heavy rolls of hose, ladders, etc, and SS program has helped me to be more organized about developing those muscles and the endurance that has resulted.
Texas Method, if you're over forty, you can probably do it if you extend your week to at least ten days, ie adding one more rest day between each workout.
If Rip had to go through them, that would be hilarious. But it's his staff we'd be putting in purgatory, since they probably sift through all the emails.
@@silvermane1 Well, then his staff needs to get in on the prank. Don't tell him, just hand him a stack of papers with all the same question and let him start reading thru them during the next podcast.
I for one only watch these Friday videos wearing (at least) two masks, lest the Texan Lobster creature named Rippetoe who doesn't trust The Science infects me with Covid spores through the series of tubes we know as the internets.
I wonder what the difference between MED programming done at barbell logic and private coaching done by SS. I imagine it’s pretty similar because Matt Reynolds and Rip were pretty close.
Since the SS gyms will have plenty of members lasting beyond the novice phase, I'm sure those gyms and coaches will be doing a lot on intermediate and advanced programming that we haven't seen much of.
As a registered Bulgarian I can tell you, old fart, "Bravo for the simple, crude and effective way of training that you have developed over the years!" Have been training for 24 years now and arriving to the same conclusions. Never red a single page of your book. Just listening to the podcast. I like you and wish I could hit you sometimes. Good man!
Hi Mark! Before my question just would like to thank you and all the SS staff for puting great content and information. Every time i followed your training principles and guidelines i improved all my lower back pain. I would like to know your thoughts on deadlift grips (mix grip, hook grip) and muscle imbalances. And i would also like to know why sometimes the "prehab" stuff may worsen lower back injuries, because i felt better since i started cutting the "core" stuff and went straight to the barbell. Thank you for your time.
Thanks Rip. This Covid thing has made me so depressed because it has put into visual form the prevalence of blind compliance and lack of critical thinking within our society. I live in an area that wasn't as heavy-handed as many places, yet I see so many people wearing masks outdoors and in places where they aren't outright required. And all my local politicians are campaigning on the explicit idea that "protecting kids from viruses" has to be a permanent policy. I'm at a breaking point. I'm homeschooling my kid and only going to stores not requiring masks. The masks are not only creating direct conflicts between "dissidents" and "enforcers," it's having a deeper psychological impact on us by creating an emotional barrier. When I walk by someone at work, I always smile just as a sign that I'm a friendly person. With the mask, nobody sees my little smile and I don't see if others smile at me. I'm finding myself having somewhat negative feelings about others because everyone seems un-friendly. All for a virus?! I can't take it. I'm so sick of the "killing grandma" guilt trip. Young people are committing suicide and people who have worked hard to build something for themselves are seeing it all crumble before their eyes for NO reason... this following the strongest economy of my 36 year lifetime? I'm beyond pissed and I'm ready to move on to whatever needs to happen next.
Anyway, knowing there are others who see the mechanisms of social control closing in -- it helps a little. It's important to remember that if you're in a mask-enforcement zone, that not everyone wearing a mask is doing so out of their own belief. But that's the illusion it creates.
“Following the pillars of infection control prevention is not an act of obedience. It is an act of kindness and generosity that protects not only you, but it really protects everybody around you.” --Steven Stites, chief medical officer for the KU Health System
Rip is so cute when he tries to educate those people with "degrees." His entire system is literally one part of one class of one semester and is entirely covered in one chapter of a degree in exercise science. 😂😂😂
It's super interesting how rip talks about slave like obedience without ever realising he thinks talls and acts exactly as he has been told to by the alt right media. I guess the true slaves are those who think they are free.
@@Takticals I had to read the replies after your comment to realize you weren't talking about mask nazis n karens enforcing mask wearing. It's amazing the irony.
@John Joe Wear masks, social distance, avoid big groups and have lockdowns where they’ll be effective, half the problem is the US government STILL not having a coherent plan of action and not providing nearly enough financial relief to citizens
