Hi Annah, thank you for sharing. How do you approach the schools? Do you apply to schools that have vacancies or do you approach a school and ask if they will allow you to do the practical?
Hi, So you go to any school and ask if you can do your practicals there. Your institution will give forms to provide to the school you’d like to conduct your practicals at. 9/10 times they say yes 🙌🏾 at the end of the day they get free labour 🤓
Hi Anna, do countries such as China, Dubai and Taiwan specifically want a teaching qualification from a university or do they also accept college qualifications ?
Hi, in terms of China No. some schools just require a degree in any field and a TEFL certificate while others want a teaching degree. Just check under that schools requirements they will note which qualifications they want you to have. As far as I know Dubai you need to have a teaching Qualification. Haven’t done much research into Taiwan but I know of ppl teaching there without a teaching degree.
Hi Sannah, I didn’t find one at the time I was doing my research for my own studies. I May have mixed it or maybe things have changed since then. Let me know if you do 🙏🏿
Hello , Dumela Anna :) ... I have commented and asked about doing a PGCE via Cornerstone. I have applied and was accepted BUT i need to complete prerequisite modules, however they are suggesting I do Afrikaans (which I've never ever done in my life). Is this true that I cannot do PGCE without Afrikaans as a pre requisite?
Yip, with cornerstone you have no choice. Have you looked into two oceans institute? I went through the course, I translated everything from English to Afrikaans when it was time for assignments, did the same for the online tests
@@AnnahPokubye yoh 🤕... okay thank you so much. No I haven't tried two Oceans. You were truly determined to pass hey. Thank you so much. Did you use Google translate or papago for translation?
Hi. thanks for sharing. In regards to Afrikaans, how deep is it? is it difficult? I've never done Afrikaans before and seems like i'll have to do it for my PGCE. TIA. I'm also going with Cornerstone
Didn’t like the idea I had to do Afrikaans but there’s no choice if you study through cornerstone. It’s wasn’t that deep first year. Will see how the second goes. If you would prefer not to do the Afrikaans mate look into another institution. Or maybe your undergrad give more options to choose from for your PGCE modules with cornerstone. For me I had no teaching subjects and thus were restricted in what I could select as my teaching subjects
Annah, thank you so much for this. This is extremely informative, will definitely do proper research. Can you please make a video on the different institutions that we can use abroad for a pgce?
@@AnnahPokubye Hi, Annah, thanks for sharing. I am currently doing research on institution I can study with that would allow me to later teach at home (SA) and abroad, specifically in Dubai. I have worked in China and South Korea before, but as you know, the Dubai market requires more than a TEFL. A video on the above would be great (just to compare notes😅). I live in the UK, as a result, my only option is an online institution. Thank you for your videos, you are truly a God-sent.
@@kebaabetswengwenya5871 lovely to meet you Kebaabetswe 🌸 thank you for the video recommendation! yeah the Dubai market requires a bit more than Korea and China 🤓 UK! I’ve Thought about possibly going to the uk. how long have you been in the UK?
how much were the costs for taking undergrad courses and also finally doing your pgce? i am also considering that since i don't have teaching subjects.
Annah best of luck, very proud of your transformation. I live in America and have a bachelor of Education from my University, Birth-Kindergarten. I am curious and if you don't mind or if someone in the comment section does not mind explaining to me what is PGCE?
Thank you ❤️ ❤️ All the way from America! I forget how small the world becomes online 😋☺️ nice to meet you! so a PGCE stands for Postgraduate Certificate in Education. it’s for people similar to me. The PGCE is an initial teacher training qualification that students can apply for once they have completed their first qualification that did not provide them with a teaching license
Hey Annah, I heard you mentioning that your undergraduate degree didn’t have teaching subjects as well. I was wondering what’s the process of acquiring those teaching subjects before the PGCE itself?
Based on your degree and the modules you did in your undergraduate Cornerstone will advise which undergraduate courses you need to do. All you have to do is register. They will then send you details on the modules you need to take in your first year (undergraduate modules) and then the modules you need to take in your final year (second year which will be your specialising PGCE modules )
@@xolilekhumalo320 Hi Xolile, so they provide full-time, Part-time options and long-distance (online). I took the online option. you can select the amount of modules you want to complete per year. For me I wanted to complete it within 2 years - I did the undergraduate modules as I did not have teaching subjects in my first degree. Then left my PGCE courses for the second year
@@mphoclaudiemathegka3064 I unfortunately did not look into doing that as I wanted it to be manageable for me ☺️ do also look into two oceans institute I know theirs is definitely a year long
@@user-gw6kl6mu6i so for epik you don’t submit your transcript ms online you well send your physical documents to Korea when EPIK asks for it. That’s when you will send the sealed transcripts
