I am South African; teaching English abroad. On this channel you can expect information on how you too can come teach abroad, vlogs as I go about my life abroad as well as some teaching ESL content.
Well done on very detailed video. Please will you do a video for first time teachers abroad. Tips on how to teach phonics, songs and games that students love.
You’re right sis! The more you say yes, the more they keep dragging you from one piece of wok to another. They will keep using you without any appreciation!
Congratulations on your 3k sub milestone 🎉🎉🎉, This video was excellent. The time you took to put it together and explain each section in detail is remarkable. Thank you ❤
Hi Annah. This video is so informative ❤❤❤. Can you please also do a video covering International Institution as well. I will patiently wait for the video 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hey hey, yeah most institutions only have the PGCE to teach high school. Not sure if there are other places. When I typed online PGCE was not google these are the institutions that came up
It's my fam signing me up to tat pcge without me going abroad to teach English first then doing a pcge a year after plz tell me wat exactly is my fam getting me into 😅👀I'm concerned
Love your family!!! Future you will be so thankful they did it!! I thought of doing my PGCE before moving abroad but put it off. Def a regret of mine 😒 but better late than never ☺️
@@zithazitha4778 Hi Zitha, depends which institution you are which. Different institutions have different requirements. The one one I’m with I needed to be in SA
Alistair won’t work with you if you have a dependent, so just be aware. All other recruiters I’ve worked with have no issues with it, just Korean Horizons it seems. 🤷🏻♀️
Hi. thanks for sharing. In regards to Afrikaans, how deep is it? is it difficult? I've never done Afrikaans before and seems like i'll have to do it for my PGCE. TIA. I'm also going with Cornerstone
Didn’t like the idea I had to do Afrikaans but there’s no choice if you study through cornerstone. It’s wasn’t that deep first year. Will see how the second goes. If you would prefer not to do the Afrikaans mate look into another institution. Or maybe your undergrad give more options to choose from for your PGCE modules with cornerstone. For me I had no teaching subjects and thus were restricted in what I could select as my teaching subjects
Stiff wig soft life...all my Nigeria girlies be saying this And you Madam have amazing skills for editing, incorporating the best lighting and sound...good info here
Hello , Dumela Anna :) ... I have commented and asked about doing a PGCE via Cornerstone. I have applied and was accepted BUT i need to complete prerequisite modules, however they are suggesting I do Afrikaans (which I've never ever done in my life). Is this true that I cannot do PGCE without Afrikaans as a pre requisite?
Yip, with cornerstone you have no choice. Have you looked into two oceans institute? I went through the course, I translated everything from English to Afrikaans when it was time for assignments, did the same for the online tests
@@AnnahPokubye yoh 🤕... okay thank you so much. No I haven't tried two Oceans. You were truly determined to pass hey. Thank you so much. Did you use Google translate or papago for translation?
Hey dear since police clearance takes time I was planning to apply to EPIK in Feb 2025 for fall intake but on the website it says PCC must be dated within 6 months of contract start date I'm worried if I do a police on Feb wen applications open it might come back in march or April which is a bit late.which intake did u apply for and wen did you apply for PCC ?
Hi there, start the PCC in Aug/sep 6 month from them it should still be valid for you to leave in Feb. The key is that the PCC shouldn’t expire before you leaving for Korea. I unfortunately can’t remember the exact day I did my PCC but I counted 6 months
Life after living abroad is different. It's great to have a plan, but it's okay if you don't have one too. You'l figure it out, eventually. I think of returning back home, not as starting all over, but as starting from experience. I hope people realise that life is not set in stone, and it's okay to give yourself grace, to figure things out. Thank you for sharing your experience, Anna.
Ive got so so much to say on this subject because when i left Korea i actually had a plan but when i got home naturally things didnt go as planned, i started considering going back but realised that i dont want to be stuck in that endless cycle of moving schools or switching between countries out of fear of starting from scratch in SA (something ive seen most people settling for) , would love to get into more detail when you're live on insta or something ❤️
So true!!! One can plan all they want but you never know what things will be like on the other side 😔 coming back home feels like starting from scratch for me too, didn’t anticipate it would be like this but with time everything will come together! Would definitely love to do a live with you on this topic
Working abroad without a plan is silliest thing you can do... My goal was to finish my 20 years bond in 3 years, I'm done paying it and renting out. I am going for a second house.
Hi Pato, thanks for watching! I did not forget my life before moving abroad. I was renting in Johannesburg while working. Now I’m struggling to find a job to rent as per before. If you leave your job to work abroad your job isn’t here waiting for you upon return. I did not forget this fact. The purpose of this video is remind ppl of that. That your job isn’t here waiting, so we need to have a plan. And if your plan is to return home and start again that cool too. What works for Peter doesn’t work for Paul.
When I came back I was pretty much homeless 😂... Been staying in hotels🙈 and eating takeaways since😅... But I did develop a skill which is what's helping me to afford paying for my expenses and maintaining myself so that I don't go into my savings🙌.
😂 I know what you mean! Glad to hear With time we figure things out, life starts to make sense again. Congratulations on being your own boss! Trading 🤓 wishing you all the success Jacky ❤️
@@user-gw6kl6mu6i I was living with mom in Johannesburg. So when my sister and I left she decided to lease out her place and now she's staying with others elsewhere. Home is in Limpopo.
Thank you for this video. For me it’s so worth it. Will save and enjoy spending time there with my family. I have years of experience here at home in a financial industry and qualifications to support it. I’m still upskilling for my move. Some take this as an opportunity to pay off their mortgage bonds and other expenses so that they return home debt free. We all have our focus on different things and what works for Peter may not work for Paul
