Hi dear! On this channel I will share my journey with you how NOT to die from anorexia... I am still alive by the grace of God. I have suffered from all kinds of eating disorders since 31 years (!!) now. It is a miracle that I am still alive! And though I seem to be 'at my last end', I will keep trusting that I am still alive for a reason. One of which is to share my story with you. I will give all I have to give as long as I keep breathing. And I hope that you can use it for the better to prevent you and/or your beloved to suffer as much from this disease as I have. Topics I certainly will address: anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, orthorexia, intestine issues, intolerances, fear, anxiety, what I eat in a day, panic attacks, urges, overeating, undereating, purging, medical help, hospitalisation, inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment, twelve step program, spirituality, Higher Power... and so much more! I was thinking of contributing, but then thought, “Why did you leave the hospital against medical advice?” You need to take the help offered rather than thinking you know more than Doctors. Yes, do whatever you can to stay alive including staying in the hospital. Overcoming an eating disorder is like quitting heroin. Hard, hard, hard. You go girl!

Actually, in patient programs still tube feed even when your still able to eat meals so that you get extra calories. Many people come to the table to eat and just wheel their feeding tube in with them.

Little bit about me: I am a mother of 3 grown men. One has a alcohol problem and is having health issues also. I totally understand what your mother is going through. It is so hard to see your child go through a time of hardship. My son and I have had a strained relationship until I could finally separate his addiction from who he is. I can still see him as a young child and this can make it difficult. I am there for him and love him over his mental issues with addiction.

It's good to see you. I'm glad you got past the virus and hope you gain back your strength fast. As far as the ER in the USA, I have gone to the ER a few times and once they find out about my mental illness they tell me to go see my psychiatrist. I had appendicitis and the ER sent me away twice saying if I have pain see my psychiatrist or my therapist. I finally got help when my appendix burst. That's only one example. It's happened 3 different times for other reasons that were physical in nature not mental. I feel like if you have a mental illness of whatever kind the ER doctors don't think you can have a physical illness, only mental illness. That's my interpretation of how I've been treated. Now if I need the help of a doctor in the ER, a personal doctor or whatever, I put it off so long because of the fear of being rejected again. It has led to significant health problems now because of that fear. Nobody wants to be seen as just a mental case but that is how these Dr's make me feel. It has also led to my depression and anxiety and my eating disorders getting worse as well. Dr's need more training on how to deal with people with mental health issues ( not just in the USA, but everywhere). We are actual people with physical bodies that at times need medical help. We are not just a head with mental health issues, but that is how we are treated sometimes.

Are you kidding me?! (about your appendicitis) that’s so bad that they didn’t take you in immediately. My appendix had also burst, but it was because I waited 2 weeks to go to the hospital, because I didn’t want to bother my family…so that’s my fault. But I also have narcolepsy, and before getting a proper diagnosis, they made me spent hours in the psychology department, because they thought my symptoms might be signs of a depression..😑

I don’t know if having a family member with you, who can conform that your symptoms are not the usual ones, you have something else. Tell them the appendicitis story. As a person with mental issues you can have all health issues other people have.

I do think the hospital was your best bet despite the hiccups there. I truly hope you didn’t lose your window of opportunity, we sometimes think an opportunity will open up again and life has other plans. That being said, I am still rooting for your recovery and just have to trust that you truly do want to recover and are doing your best to do so. If that’s the case hopefully you can keep getting stronger on your own and enter the hospital at another time.

I have watched all the videos many times but still haven't seen anywhere where you talk about your fears, besides the intestine stuff, I wanna know specifically what you were afraid of in the hospital, what made you so scared you wanted to run away? Were you afraid of gaining weight or eating? And what about it made you feel scared? I've noticed in my journey answering these questions is what frees you and allows you to recover 💚

I have watched most of Angelique’s videos. She passed away about a year ago. I recovered from anorexia 58 years ago. Most people had never even heard of it back then until Karen Carpenter died from it. The scariest thing for Angelique in the hospital was probably not having control of everything. For a lot of anorexics the underlying issue is the need to have absolute control of something, and what you do or don’t eat is something you can take control of.

Another way that you're helping others Angelique is by documenting your journey. Most people do not know how severely lacking health care for eating disorders is. In the Netherlands and elsewhere. Your brave choice to share your journey publicly has put this information out there. It is a testimony that increases knowledge, understanding and compassion. It may change someone's mind in ways that causes them to better support their family member, friend, patient, or even causes them to effect systemic change.

I'm so glad you made it through the virus and that there is a plan for getting you back into the hospital with a plan. It's so validating when someone in the medical system actually admits that they made a mistake. As someone who lives with chronic illness I've dealt with a lot of medical mistakes and I'm still here. This is one of the most challenging illnesses not only to fight from our side - but for others to understand from the other side. Even between those of us who are sick or have been sick, their is still so much misunderstanding,, frustration, hopelessness, etc. Put those voices aside for now. They are from hurting people desperate to push some of their pain away, even at the expense of others. When we are well, we can show them there is a different way. Keep doing what you are doing. Was hoping for an update. I’m extremely saddened that you’ve left. I think about you daily and please don’t take this harshly BUT you have ALOT of excuses. ALOT. Outside of death there’s no where else you can go except to GET SERIOUS about getting well. You can blame every Dr,Psychiatrist every harsh talking nurse but at the end of the day their job IS TO SAVE YOUR LIFE. It has to be frustrating to them to see you taking a bed,that takes months and weeks to get only to not follow the plan,blame others and ultimately leave. They can guide you and help medically but it boils down to YOU!! YOU have to want it. Not just say you do but prove it with actions. And your actions do not show that of someone who TRULY wants to get better or you’d still be there.

You are so correct. She is deep in her ed and will not relinquish her control over food. She has been this way for years. Treatment will not work without "a leap of faith" and total surrender to her doctors and their treatment plan, not her own made up treatment plan. I hope she gets her "come to Jesus" moment and can finally move forward in her life. So incredibly sad. She needs intensive psychiatric, specialized care. 😥

@@artemis1style That’s not my intention AT ALL! I genuinely care about her. I truly check EVERY SINGLE DAY for an update,I pray daily for her healing and strength. But there comes a time when one has to stop giving excuses. I’ve been there,I’m not passing judgement AT ALL! I was in active addiction for 14 years and had any excuse in the world. But once I was DONE the excuses stopped. I truly wish she were in the states and could go to a dual diagnosis center that would treat ALL issues at once!! That’s her best shot.

It’s hard for anyone to understand what anyone is going through unless it is themselves. You are not alone in that I have to eat every 2-3 hours as well to prevent hypoglycemia. It’s annoying and we may lose sleep but I always figure I am doing something good for my body and that is always a positive. I hope you feel better ☀️

I totally understand the struggle of eating disorders, as I’ve fought for years. I’m in my 50’s now and have gastroparesis. I weigh enough, but can’t eat much because my body doesn’t like to digest. Hello Angelique. Good to see you again. So glad you are doing better. I suffered from anorexia myself, so I understand the struggle. I have a friend who suffers from gastroparesis due to the anorexia, and when she is not able,to eat, due to her stomach issues, she is tube fed, however, there are times that she is able to eat, and is still tube fed, to help her get more nutrition. I’ve dealt with stomach issues myself, and also had my gallbladder removed. I would look into purchasing nutritional drinks. It contains protein and concentrated calories to help you gain weight and receive the nutrition that you need. You have improved so much. You are strong and a fighter, and should be proud. You are helping a lot of people that are going through the same thing by telling your story. Will continue to pray for you.

Glad to see you alive. You having overcome the virus shows that you are not supposed to go. Dear you don't owe anyone explanations. People who criticize and doubt will always do so, so they will keep you in a loop of having to excuse and explain. Don't waste your time and energy on this. Go your own path and hold your head and heart up high to reach your goal of showing and leading the way to recovery. Don't let these people risk you to fail. As a person who has lived with Anorexia for over 45 years I won’t say ‘you are looking better’ as that can sometimes translate to ‘you have put on weight’ which to an Anorexic can be utterly terrifying.I will say that I am happy to see a new video from you and that you survived such a horrible virus. I hope that your Faith will continue to sustain you as you fight the endless battle with this evil disease. Even in your darkest hour your Faith will remain strong and you will never be alone. If/when you go back into Hospital I hope that the physicians will remain true to their words and any pre agreed treatment plan will be adhered to. I wish you well, I wish you peace x

I agree with you about looking well/better. I take it to mean I’m getting fat too. I think I might have offended people as that was something I’d asked about. I wasn’t asking to be nosy, it was just something that I thought about. I wasn’t being malicious or nasty. You can read my comment just above this one. If you do read it do you think it seemed offensive? I really hope not because that’s not what I wanted 😢. I think we’re on the same page about our feelings when certain comments are said. Even if they are doing it thinking they’re saying the right thing. But the anorexic voice takes it away & interprets it as fat. You may feel differently but I just felt like I understand. Stay strong & don’t give up ❤

Look I can say what I want and Ive nursed people like you and her and I mean well and she understood. I compared her face by a split screen shot to a few weeks ago and she has put on weight THANKFULLY. Part of treatment is letting go of body image and acceptance that you need to look different to survive and you need a layer of body fat to fight infection and walk about

@@Emjay_____71 I feel like my comment may have been misunderstood. I was commenting on Jane O’ Callaghan and saying I could relate to her feelings around wellness feeling like people mean fat. I had written a previous message which made no assumption that Lique feels the same. I was explaining how I felt. Nothing to do with anybody else except my own experiences. These things are related to passed issues. I don’t think that saying things such as “people like you” is very helpful. If you go and look at my very first comment which stated how pleased I was to see Lique back as I had been so worried. I apologise to you Lique & the rest of the community if I’ve upset anybody. ❤️

@@catherinemitchell3721 Because without pain, we would not know pleasure...and without sorrow, how would we recognize joy? There are two sides to everything...cause and effect. We also learn a LOT from pain. Sometimes, we never find out the reason why we have to suffer it, and sometimes it finally occurs to us. God, or your higher power, is a higher consciousness. One thing does not exist without the other, and God (or what you see as that) KNOWS who is able to handle that pain the most. Of course we ALL have pain, but do you ever notice some people have more than their share of pain? I have noticed something since being diagnosed with cancer......long term and terminal illnesses changes people. I truly believe that certain people are given things to deal with, because they have the inner strength to carry it. Through their fight, they learn empathy... things about human nature and spirituality, and through that, are able to help others in a way they couldn't before. Take Angelique for instance.....you would look at her in her physical state and perhaps thinks she is not strong....but you would be wrong. Here she is, inspiring THOUSANDS of people who are also ill with various things to KEEP FIGHTING. Through it all she remains GRATEFUL, even when sick. She is a prime example of this. These are things that only a person who has suffered will understand and can use to help others..... this is why God allows pain.

I had a very rough time in hospital, but they saved my life. I still have nightmares about some of my time there, and I wanted to leave every day. I pray that they get the plan together and that you can let go of the control and allow them to do what they are trained to do. I am a type A personality and would be considered controlling. You HAVE to let go of the control. We are not always thinking right when we are malnourished. Trust in the Lord and lean on Him.
