Thanks for watching! Thumbs Up this comment if you submitted a question and I answered it on here!!! Next video will be "Day in the Life of an RT"... stay tuned next Thursday!!!
CardioPulmonary Technician here hopefully starting RT school this fall!!! Working around the RT's in the hospital I work at has always been so intriguing and I'm so excited to jump in! Thank you so much for answering all of these Q's!!! :)
I wouldn’t do RT school!!! DO NOT RT SCHOOL! Ive been RRT for 6 years and its a horrible job, little to no respect in the hospitals, just follow doctor orders and nurse boss you around. Go for something else
@@allen2879 This speaks volumes to your skill as an RT.. or lack thereof I should say. This attitude is exactly why you don't enjoy your job or feel respected in the profession. You don't hold yourself to a standard.. you obviously haven't continued to improve upon the basic skills learned in RT school. If you graduated and have coasted since then just turning knobs per a doctor's order, then why should you be respected as a valuable member of the team? You are contributing absolutely nothing. Do better man. Don't discourage young minds from pursuing an awesome career path just simply based upon your own experience.
@@brookslevitate4428 actually I’ve done everything in respiratory there is to do and worked in 5 different hospitals. 90% of the time the job sucks, im doing ECMO now and much better job. Many other RTs feel the same why i do and leave RT and go to RN after one year. You dont know what you are talking about obviously
@@brookslevitate4428 couldn’t have said it bettter bc I literally just read a comment that said they have been doing this for 20 years and still love it and never going back a lot of ppl have experience based advice which isn’t advice it’s just ur opinion based on experience 🙄
Thank you for this video, it was very informative. Recently applied to the RT program at my school. Just wanting to make sure it’s the right decision for me.
I found your instagram and was so shocked I found someone who is going the same route as I am! I am currently in RT school to obtain my bachelors and decided that I would work in the field for a year or so and decide if I wanted to continue further or not. I have truly always wanted to go PA but RT interested me so much as well! Thank you for deciding to make videos about your journey, it is encouraging and reaffirming!
So glad we found eachother❤️ RT is a GREAT stepping stone to then transition to PA! If you have any questions don’t be afraid to comment or DM me on insta any time:)
Oh my gosh ladies!! This is my route as well. Im a retired Flight Attendant. I'm also a little older, just turned 40. This is my second act. Soo beyond excited I found you!!!
Wow I was really starting to get nervous about choosing RT school and then PA school. But u are the first person I’ve seen with the identical plan to mine. Maybe this is a sign! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I'm still an RT student but i could see myself working as a PA, especially with a focus on critical care or the pulmonary system if possible...the only thing stopping me is that would not be able to stop working and the stress of PA and working as an RT scares. Ive thought about the possibility of doing Prn work twice a week so i can get 24 hours a week. I just dont know if i can handle it ! 😥 lol
Once you start working as an RT you’ll know of going back to school to be a PA is for you:) I def do not recommend working while in pa school. I would def be failing with even 1 12 hr shift a week. You need to utilize your free time studying and with friends and family. I use loans for my tuition and cost of living (rent, food etc.). Not working and living off loans is just part of the sacrifice of going to pa school so you def have to weigh that when deciding to go back to school!
This is really inspiring! Im really excited for your journey and watching your channel grow and flourish. (Btw! Undergad student from the UK, moving into second year of Biomed. Will hopefully start PA School in the next 3 years time! :) )
@@SamKellyPA I've strongly been wanting to study in the US as i see the scope of study is alot broader than in the UK curriculum for PA school. For me, the one main thing that is deterring me from studying in the US is the expenses! Then along with the applications, transcripts, tests, visa sorting etc that ive got to do 😂 granted i have three years to figure this all out. However, in the UK all i need realistically is £500 to pay for PA school because bursaries and and a 10,000 masters loan will cover the cost for 1.5 of the 2 year program. The US is still in the cards but i guess ill go with the flow and see where i end up 🤷🏾♂️😂
I am a student of respiratory therapy since 4 months, a student in Jordan, and this specialty is new in the country, and there are no students older than me in this field to learn from
This was so interesting! Thank you. I am currently a respiratory therapist, but now really thinking about attempting PA school! You don't happen to be in the Philly area do you?
Could you film a video of the schools you applied too, I currently live in northeast Philadelphia and I just wanted to see where you applied... you don’t have to include the school you currently attend.
Tyra Wiley I don’t think it would be enough content for a full video, but here is the list of Philadelphia area schools that I applied to: TJU (East falls & NJ campus) Drexel Salus Arcadia Desales PCOM The other philly schools that I did not apply to/qualify for: Temple U of the Sciences TJU (Center City)
Thank you so much for your reply! I am highly considering PA school but want to get some PCE first. I thought about nursing for that, but it doesn't appeal to me for the same reasons you mentioned!
Hello! I know this question is subjective, but how hard would you say RT school was? Like say if I would like to have a minor in Spanish, while in RT school. I think I would like to be in the Healthcare field.
If I may also ask, what's the grading scale for passing? Again it's different for each school, but I like to have a general idea. Thank you again for the reply.
You should look for an online RT to BS in RT program. Universities may offer thst program completely online that will allow you to continue working while going to school
@@EduardoGarcia-yd8qr I know it’s possible, but RRT pre reqs don’t meet all PA pre reqs. Like organic chem for example. Which classes would I have to take?
A degree in biology will qualify you for Perfusion assistant school, physician assistant school, qualify you to become a medical lab scientist . so thats a great option...it is a very tough degree but still possible
It will vary from school to school bc every schools degrees have different requirements! but if you look up common pa school prereqs (bio 1&2, chem1&2, biochem, orgo 1, psych, etc) prob a biochem major or biomed would prob align best.
Where did you do your science online pre reqs? I took all of my pre med courses and have my MBA. Some of my science pre reqs are going to expire. :-( plus, I have not taken anatomy and physiology. I was worried that I would have to go in person. What should I look for in online classes before signing up? Thank you so much anything helps.
First, make sure your prospective programs accept online science prereqs and online labs. A lot of programs explicitly list this on their website. I would say if you can do in person labs (especially a&p) you should, it’ll only help you in pa/med school. And I took my courses at Doane and university of Phoenix
