Wow those are some bazaar designed coins that brought excellent cash at auction thanks for sharing this it was amazing to see a chinese coin sell for over a half a million dollars!
Yes Sir, I am going to consign my hoard with Ian Russel at Great Collections. I was reading about his background and was very impressed. I have traded a single email and am very much so looking forward to meeting him. My uncle was born across the river from the beer factory at Tsing Tao before the Second World War. The stories I have heard would make your tail spin. Wish me luck as we go forward. Thank you for the invaluable information.
Glad you liked it Kenneth. NGC opened a big submission center in China last year so I suspect we'll be seeing more dragons and such on the market in the next few years. One of the things that keep a lot of western collectors away from these coins is that there can be a fairly steep learning curve to it if you start from scratch. Having more slabbed coins, I think, will give greater confidence to potential buyers. Sorry for rambling on a bit... Thanx for watching
I have a coin that is similar to that dragon silver dollar but it has two dragons and no English writing. The Chinese writing markings look similar. It must be a pre or post 1911 coin. It is only the size of a U.S. quarter dollar.
If we have this type of ancient china coins, how and where to check and test for proof that it is genuine original to know it real time and year of production.,
