After an 18-year break, A Tribe Called Quest is releasing its final studio album, "We got it from Here...Thank You 4 Your Service." Q-Tip gives Gayle King a behind-the-scenes look at some of the song titles in the album.
I don’t see that about him at all. He may have been uncomfortable with Gayle taking liberties to put hands on his stuff - his white board, his records, etc.
The album is a MASTERPIECE. It's like Tribe came back to say goodbye, give Phife a fitting sendoff while at the same time sounding like they are just getting started!
+Earthdog BIG BROTHER FAN On the Mainstream front yes but trust there has been alot of Gold from Oddisee, Nujabes, Fat Jon, Freddie Joachim, CoryaYo, Raw Flakes, L'Orange, O.C. Little Brother, Torae, Rapsody, Lupe Fiasco, Roc Marciano, Big K.R.I.T, Sa Roc, Kev Brown, The Foreign Exchange, Tall Black Guy, Stro Elliot, Apollo Brown, Elzhi, Jean Grae, Royce Da 5'9" Cool Calm Pete, MF Doom, REKS, Termanology, Run The Jewelz, Rapper Big Pooh, Pharoahe Monch, Nottz....
+Fairplay Terrific Don't forget madlib (and quasimoto), and almost the entire UK scene (Children of the damned, the four owls, moose funk squad, blabbermouf, etc, etc, etc)
Naitsab Madlib Yeeeesssss! His brother Oh No is nice too. And the Four Owls(Even with a Gimmick like Owl Masks) are Dope as Fuck. Think Twice with DJ Premier is an all time favorite of mine, I live in the U.S.A but Man there's alot of Global flavor I fuck with thanks to Magazines like DJMAG and Mix Mag. M-Phazes, Snowgoons, Leaf Dog, Etc... but yeah I feel you, you have great taste Bless Up!
Forget a Grammy I would prefer a Special Tribute in Memory of Phife Diggy.....Nas has yet to Win one obviously the Grammys don't recognize great talent anymore....
Why are folks in the Comment section acting like Q-Tip wasn't active in the game since Amplified. Uh he did Release the Classic "The Renaissance" the Overlooked once shelved then released "Kamaal The Abstract" Album Produced for Busta Rhymes, Kanye, Roc Marciano, Termanology, And many others come on now Q Tip never went anywhere some fans just fell out of touch....
Yes sir it did!! Sad that Phife Dawg passed. At least I got to see them preform at Rock The Bells. 2016 is turning out to be an interesting year for sure.
Man, I'm really glad they made "Space Program" Track 1. "Whateva Will Be" would've felt like a traditional Tribe opener, but Space Program is such a strong statement: Gotta get it together forever. I love that phrase.
Tip seems so humble and cool! Gayle cant fake the funk when Tribe is in the building! Im glad they are back and Backspin made my entire weekend by playing their new stuff and old stuff! Hip Hop Head like me was in Heaven! Peace!
Never tought ATQC would be back like this! Man they picked up where MM left of! And it wasn't just and old school type of feel it was legit ATCQ but current! I'm bumping it all the time along with RTJ3!
I really don't want to put the site on here as more people will know about it and it get taken down lol. tweet me @realzakbishop. It's actually a really good album. The space programme is a good track its track one. it's just like being in early 90's again. whole album is good though. ive listened once just started it again lol.
you can get it i was gonna put the link up than i though i might get in big trouble so decided against just google it but do me a favour buy it and support that real hip hop its amazing you won't regret it
Just finished listening to the album. Loved it! I'm especially feelin 'Conrad Tokyo', reminds me of the Tribes roots with the mix of hip-hop and jazz, that 'native tongues' feel kind of style from back then late '80's early 90's, a lil pharcyde, a lil main source, even had the heavy flava of I think Roy Ayers in there, which also gave me flashbacks of the Jazz Funk days of the early '80's on pirate radio in London UK. JFM radio.
I've been rocking the album non-stop since it dropped dope as fk! As Tip mentioned Space Program is awesome but my personal favorite is Melatonin, holy sh*t I've never heard anything like it. It's music to my soul. ATCQ Forever
I listened to the whole album on Spotify and cannot wait to receive the CD. A welcome return and a classic in the making. hip hop has never sounded so good. Music that's relevant and sayin' sumthin'. I wonder what happened to the track, 'for the ladies'?
I thought it was okay at first and then I realized it is a flat out masterpiece. It's not a 1992 Tribe sound but you can hear the chemistry, passion and love. They sound like kids theyre having so much fun
i’ve noticed a lot of our greatest musical creatives has this very innocent, almost naive quality about them lol: tip, pharrell, janet, michael…just for example
