Shortly after finishing this video, a new and massive patch (1.0.5.0) for The Last of Us was released. As a result, I only had the opportunity to cover version 1.0.4.1 in this video, but I will take a look at this newest patch in another video.

Quite disappointing to see that not much has changed for most of these titles. I've been hoping for a patch that fixes Dead Space's traversal stutter, but at this point I don't think it's coming.

I've said before, and I'll say again. They do this on purpose to pad console sales where they get a larger share of profit. And less copyright theft. They intentionally nerf pc ports. They slowly want to make people prefer and switch to consoles. Where they give base games and keep charging you for the rest of the game. To combat piracy and to make more money per sale.

Please keep content like this coming! This is so untapped but so appreciated by the PC gaming community! People like me who can’t afford 70 on a broken port would like to know if any of these games are fixed eventually especially when support finally ends and the last patch is posted! In my testing the lates patch for returnal fixed most of the Sutter for me. the game will still have some when going though doors but that about it.

Which game of Last of us Part 1, Hogwarts Legacy and Jedi Survivor would you think would run best on my rig when taking the patches into account? :) I am planning on upgrading later this year but I would like to play one of the games now. Owning 6750 XT I had a blast playing Last of Us with you optimized settings and ultra textures. Such a great game. One of the best stories in video games, very immersive and, to my surprise, great gameplay.

Considering you're covering TLOU a lot - is it finally in a state that warrants a playthrough? I'm on an RTX 3070 and Ryzen 7 5800, is there a hope it'll run stable 60fps in 1080p when maxed out? Also, how frequent are crashes, frametime spikes etc? I'm just not willing to support them with my purchase if the game's still a mess technically.

From my own experience the game, while slowly getting there, things are still erratic. Smooth portions of the game are followed by areas in which the frame rate tanks, while glitches still persist.

Last of us patch 1.0.5 dropped yesterday its a pretty big patch 38gb if i remember correctly and this patch is the real deal as far as cpu performance goes too bad i finished the game last week would love to test out this patch by myslef :p

latest patch that came out this evening i get non stop micro stutters on my 6700xt 5600x 32gb ram. just terrible :/ ive not bothered playing any other patch from what I heard. such a shame, still not playable.

I'm sorry to hear that, Regarding shader building , it seems like they changed and improve the process and significantly reduce the size of these shaders (from 11GB to 2.9GB) so try deleting the old shaders folder , you'll find in with the games files , named "psolibs " , and relaunch the game to rebuild shaders and try again.

The fixes that really matter (including the brand new TLOU1 patch which is game chancing) appear to use more system RAM instead of VRAM. What should have been done in the first place. Anyone can go out and upgrade to 32 GB of RAM but asking them to go out and buy a new GPU is ridiculous. 32 GB is just going to have to be the norm going forward for nice textures. It gives the developers the flexibility to not have to just use VRAM. Since our system RAM usage is getting so high in these games (20 plus) I also highly recommend using ISLC to clear Windows standby memory to prevent microstutter from virtual RAM. ISLC has worked wonders on 16 GB of RAM for years and now it looks like it's time to use it with 32 as well.

This is a real shame. I remember back in the early 2010's I had an xbox 360 and ps3 but wanted a PC after seeing how much better the games looked and performed. Now I have a $3000 PC and wish I had bought an xbox series x or ps5 instead. Clearly no one wants to optimize games for pc anymore.

I stopped playing hogwarts legacy. Can't believe game runs so shit. On bleeding edge hardware. Have the fastest nvme ssd, 33gb of ddr5 6000 memory, am5 cpu, and a 4080. Game glitches, stutters like crazy and without dlss runs crap. On a system that's costs as much as a a used car. Wtf. They do this crap on purpose. Exbox and ps5 don't have these issues and and series x/s both run a modified version of windows 11 and direct x 12 ultra. No reason one port should be better than another.

Hogwarts Legacy is still borked. I can run the game fine 60 fps at 4k and no stutters but but RT don't work at all and my friend who has almost the same pc but runs at 1440p can't play it because it stutters so much even out in the world but his RT is working. My pc: 3080 and a 10900kf Friends pc: 3080 and a 12600k preformens wise they should be on par (his should be a little better)
