My friend who did time in a SoCal prison was molested as a kid, he says it's revenge: he said prisoners who've been molested as kids see molesters in prison as the one that molested them when they were kids. This may not be all prisoner's reason but seeing the high rate of males who've been molested as kids, it certainly is a reason for many.
Shaun, your resilience is superhuman. Having endured some of the worst imaginable conditions in prison, you prevailed and somehow guarded the dignity of human life. How grateful I am, for your writings, your example, your existence. Thank you. I would like to ask a question, regarding the treatment of animal abusers in prison. You mentioned only that crimes against women and children are shunned, and I am wondering whether animal abusers have to endure any verbal or physical mistreatment from the gangs.
In the next town over from me the former Chief of Police was arrested for raping a cow. They took him down to the station & looked up what to charge him for & there was no law against in my state. He went free, but now my state has a law against it.
I think the point is that we need to find ways to get kids in that situation out of it before they could potentially complete the cycle and become a sex offender themselves.
@@Jason-er1vf Absolutely but unfortunately our social services are rubbish and at the cost of these children’s lives SS actively work to keep families however dysfunctional together (it means less aggro for them now but in the long run when these kids grow older they can be a burden on the prison/mental health system and on other people’s lives that they influence/inflict their own chaotic personalities on).
@@icephoenix1024 No. Just because a person may have been abused does not absolve that person of blame if that person has gone on to abuse children... it certainly does not make it understandable or justifiable. It is not an excuse. There is no excuse for this.
Prison is so screwed, it’s a mix of people who did bad things but need help and people who do bad thing s for the pure purpose of hurting others. They need to be separated.

As a sex offender (based off of a bunch of lies), this is why I always stay close to a deadly weapon. Nobody is going to feel sorry for me when I get beaten up or stabbed so don't expect me to feel sorry for the person confronting me about a charge that he/she had nothing to do with. Everybody just needs to mind their own business and protect their own family.🤷🏾♂️
It's difficult to determine whether sex offenders actually have a history of being abused. There are quite a few instances where they claim to be abused as a way of getting sympathy to try and get a more lenient sentence or just as a justification for their actions.
I worked in the big mainstream Prison here as a volunteer and i worked with ALL types of prisoners...i escorted sex offenders out of the prison for therapy sessions..me alone with these guys in my car...yes...and i took the opportunity to talk to these guys about their offending and how they have changed that victims life forever...taken their innocence and given them such an awful pain...most of these guys said THEY were the victim and that the victim seduced them...they showed no remorse and told me they would reoffend as soon as they got out..even one guy who had been medically castrated...he told me he would go and look for a child to rape as soon as he was OUT....and ten years later thats EXACTLY what he did...these people are SCUM and deserve all they get..they have no compasaion, care, remorse for the victim...they only think of their own desires...they are dusgusting..and should pay for what they do..

I think a big part of the systematic abuse of sex offenders in prison is due to the fact that most inmates have wives, sisters, daughters - and these guys are stuck in a cell knowing that there are other predators on the outside looking to prey on these women, yet they are no longer in a position where they can protect them. So they work out that rage at being rendered powerless to protect loved ones by taking it out on whichever sex offenders come under their control. Whenever I hear someone going on about "rape culture" in society I always think "say you have to do a 10-year stretch in prison, which would you rather go in for - bank robbery, or rape?" We're expected to believe that Chip from the yachting team is all cool with rape, cuz that's "campus culture" - yet we all know that when you enter one of our finer penal institutions for a sex crime, your life will be made a living hell. Hmmm...

Wow, imagine if someone gets falsely accused of a sex crime, goes to prison, then gets tortured and/or murdered, that is such a horrific injustice, and the worst thing is that it has probably happened sooo many times... Even sadder is if that story gets outed, no one would care that the poor innocent guy died, and the prisoners that did it wouldn't even feel remorse, they'd justify it to themselves as mistakes happen.
I was charged & remanded 25 years ago when I was 19, for rape at knife point, he was only 14, his father was a prison officer, and for the 18 months I spent on remand I fought every day, there was no separate wing and no one wanted to hear my side, I was all alone, the prison officers told me if I just plead guilty the beating will stop, the day I went to court the judge asked how do I plead, guilty to rape, I was then instructed to get a solicitor, the medical evidence came and he hasn't been raped. The prosecutor asked if I would plead guilty to under age sex, I told prosecution I was pleading guilty to anything, stupid move well then he came back and said his father wanted attempted rape, so I received 4 years that day. I went back jail, everyone heard I was innocent and kicked off cause I pleaded guilty. The treatment I receive is classed as torture now, don't do it any more. I was stitched up, and still to this day I get terrorist, yet I'm 100&% innocent. And there's no marks on my face.

Back in the 1970s it was common for 14 or 15 year old young lady to marry their 18, 19 or 21 year old boyfriend. What wasn't acceptable was to just sleep with him, that was uncommon, but if they married it was accepted. Divorce was not so common then either. Two of my friends did that and they are still married to this day. Today's society things are very different.

My father was a CO (Correctional Officer) in a max security prison in Southern California & the guards left the sex offenders alone. They were also segregated, but sometimes other inmates did get to them, but my dad said he didn’t see anything too vicious.
Prison is such a faulty system, 8000 years of prisons and it'd never been able to stop crime, and just making a playground for the worst offenders is horrid. If yer not a real criminal going into prison, you sure will be leaving it.
I work in a prison this is true especially people who came in for prison drugs/non violent crimes they come out harden due to the environment and come back to prison with a violent crime.
This was a story on the news not long ago here in NYC. Even though the guards stopped it from happening. It was a drone someone was trying to from the outside trying to drop a drone loaded with drugs in to the courtyard while the prisoners were out side. This was stupid because it was broad day light and guards saw the idiot on the outside of the fence sitting in a vehicle driving a drone.
I did an internship in a Massachusetts State Prison and even though , legally, the Corrections officers are not supposed to know what the inmates are in for they end up finding out through people that do know. So everyone ends up finding out anyway. Doesnt matter if the law states anonymity.

Qarius Many 'sex offenders' in the USA are in fact people convicted of minor charges. They are not all sexual predators or rapists. But there doesnt need to be a connection between child molestation and being molested yourself. I think some molesters, though, confuse sex with children with love, because they themselves have been molested and see it as the only way to give nurturing. That they have a confused image of caring and nurturing. Even more interesting is a study in Norway which found that a high number of child molesters are themselves children. Also, people confuse pedophile and child molester as one and the same. Pedophiles are attracted to pre-bubescent children, not all of them are child molesters. And not all child molesters are pedophiles, some study finds. Lets say you are attracted to a 14- year old. Thats not pedophilia, its hebephilia. Which is the attraction to kids in the early teens. And what causes pedophilia is obv open to doubt, but researcher James Cantor suggests that- and some other researchers- that its a wiring in the brain which causes pedophilia. Theyre brain might actually confuse nurturing with sexual arousal. Also, there are those that claim sexual abuse is connected to repressed sexuality, or a personality disorder i e the need to be in control and that sex offenders look for targets, or that they might have a disability.
Although that might be true in some cases, convicted child rapists get attacked in jail because of their crime. To think that inmates hold off on any beatings until a sentence is passed down? Are some people really that stupid they really need to ask? Smh

This guy I used to work went to prison for alleged statutory rape, but he's also a retired marine corps infantryman. He was sent to a different prison after he mangled 2 inmates, leaving one with a fractured skull. I know sex offenders are on the K.O list but the inmates really need to make sure the sex offender can't fight before they try anything.
Yes, I believed that their MAIN MOTIVATIONS were directly connected to their childhood and the pain and anger carried through their lives from there!!?!! I was abused for my entire childhood and beyond, but I didn't grow up to want to hurt anyone!!! But if anyone tried abusing me or backing me into a corner....then you might experience my rage and it could be very dangerous!!! But I believe in UNCONDITIONAL LOVE TO THIS DAY AND I'M NOW 64!!!
I honestly couldn’t think of anything worse than going to Prison!! I love my freedom, I love my home, I love my job (nurse), I love doing what I want - when I want etc etc. Prison is certainly not for me!

Even then they're not really safe. I'm sure some prisons or jails protect them better than others, but because the prison system is just so overly crowded here, a lot of times they will be put on the same PC cell block as someone who flipped on their gang, ratted someone out, has been attacked before, is a teen that was charged as an adult, etc. and these people may still have animosity towards sex offenders despite the fact they both need protection. As far as I'm concerned a relatively low standard of safety for them is good. Maybe that will dissuade future dirtballs from committing sex crimes if they know there's a good chance their face will be smashed in for it
Mitchy Boy even in segregated prisons, prisoners working in the kitchen will try to put stuff in the food when the sec offenders come to eat. He actually made a video how the prisoners put mercury from thermometers into the food and many went into a coma.

If inmates deal so harshly with sex offenders then why/how do so many of them get out of prison in one piece, then go on to offend again? In my community you can check a registry of sex offenders to see which ones are in the neighborhood. It is mind boggling that there are so many of these 290 registrants who live around me, around schools and are free to re-offend.

The Judicial places convicted sex offenders in prison. It is ironic how the other prisoners actually decide what justice will look like for sex offenders.
Can you use the internet while in prison? Is there access to computers for those inmates looking to develop coding skills to increase their odds of success when released? I feel technology would be a GREAT rehabilitation program for those locked up. So much spare time to hone some serious skills required to become an amazing Software Engineer. State prisons could produce some solid engineers by the time an inmate has served a medium term sentence. No formal education is required to get a job at top companies like Google and Facebook. Now wouldn't that be a happy ending?
My home recently just got broken into with 7 kids my aunt baby sat, me and my girlfriend. House got light on fire and home boy had a 9mm. Idk what you call that but I know it's attempted murder , multiple cases. How're those people handled?

It's an interesting question whether 'those who bash pedos care about the victims, or are just using it as an excuse to be violent'. I read a story this morning of a child who was murdered by his parents, and almost wished I could be in prison, so I could (try to) make their lives a living Hell. Analysing my own feelings, I feel a sense that the victim in crimes like those is crying out for vengeance, and since the crime is SO monstrous, every object and power in the universe is bent against the perps... Well, I am a part of the universe, and it's not fair that those who commit unspeakable crimes should be spared the unspeakable misery that such crimes deserve.
Just to clarify Only about 2% of pedophiles were sexually abused themselves. By far the majority of survivors of child hood sexual abuse, do not grow to molester children.
