Qantas Boeing 747-400 VH-OJS diverted into Manchester because it was running low on fuel due to strong headwinds. I Filmed it leaving Manchester for Heathrow on Sunday 16th November 2006. I am the copyright holder of this video.
The amazing thing about this, is the conversation between the Tower and Pilot. The instruction to proceed to runaway 24 left!! 06/24 were always the direction designations for Manchester. Approximately 5 or 6 weeks after this video, the 'Huge' Earthquake happened in the Indian Ocean and knocked the Earth off its axis...and now it is 05/23. Great to hear the words "24 left". Nostalgia 😀😀
Longreach is the Birth place of Qantas in Western Queensland, 12 years ago I went to the Qantas Founders Museum there, they have on a hard stand a Boeing 747-200, named City Of Bunbury.
Simon - your videos always rock! Great and smooth camera work, good mixture of close-ups and totals and neat perspectives. Enjoy watching your clips time and again :-) Keep it up and thx for sharing!
Remember the 747 flying over my house in Sale on Sundays in 70/80’s en route to Brussels Singapore & Sydney. Don’t think QANTAS will return to MAN in near future ☹️
