Mahomes has the physical attributes of a shortstop, the arm talent of a pitcher, and the mental processing speed of a point guard. He’s done all those things in his athletic life, and has wrapped all those talents into being an elite QB. And he literally grew up in pro sports, seeing how champions train and perform.

After seeing Gruden’s QB camp before the draft that year, I was sold! If you go back and watch that episode now, it’s even better because it all makes sense! Could you imagine if they drafted Watson instead that year? I would probably have stopped watching football by now due to pure agony and devastation! Yea, I've heard that too!!! He can see a play once & remember it, from yrs ago!!! BUT what I didn't know, is that 1 reason why it's so hard 4 defense to cover Travis, is b/c like Pat, Travis can improvise!!!! And sumhow they can read each other. 1 of the amazing plays, where Pat wz scrambling & suddenly passed to Travis, he had improvised cuz he knew the other guys would know where he wz "SUPPOSED to GO!!!" I didn't know that, & Travis also played QB so he also understands how QBs think. But Pat's accuracy is SO amazing!!!! That why when ppl thot he should stop during the regular season throwing balls 2 the guys who would drop the ball, esp, MVS, 1st Pat said, "I could've passed it shorter?!?!" & he also had faith in the guys & said u just keep practicing & throwing them the ball!!!"

I wz watching on I think it's called, "SPEAK". This wz b4 their game w/ the Ravens. The question they were discussing, do u pick Raven's Defense 2 win or Patrick Mahomes. 3 out of the 4 said Pat Mohomes!!! BUT they knew the stats of Ravens!!! Shaddy & Julian picked Pat & another host picked him. Suddenly Julian said, "I can't NOT pick Patti no more!!!" He said, he wz on'The Herd,' & said, "They did a study on Patrick Mahomes heart rate." Julian said, "The only time, Patrick's heart rate goes up, is whn he is on the sidelines & he can't help. 1 min. left in the game, & ball in his hands, his heart rate drops. I can't go against that, that's crazy!!!" As they cont'd their debate Julian said, after 1 host kept talking abt The Ravens & stats, no 1 wz injured, Lamar is the MVP of the season, suddenly Julian again "If u're not a Chief Fans, no 1 is betting that the Chiefs win. The only reason is one five is trotting out." But I think BOTH Pat & probably moreso, BUT also Travis, play their greatest!!! How those 2 almost thrive under pressure, is what's amazing 2 me!!! 1 Chiefs fan & anchor, showed interesting stats, b4 or after they won. Every1 of Lamar's Jackson stats went down in the playoffs compared 2 the season. And Pat's stats always go up during the the playoffs!!! Overall b/c of that, the Chiefs thrive when it comes 2 the playoffs & pressure. IT'S CRAZY!!!!

@@tacotom3492 If Jimmy G hit Sanders on the throw you just referenced, the score would have been 27-24 forty-niners with a minute and forty seconds to go. Chiefs still had all of their timeouts, and this is definitely a 4-down scenario. If you don't think that Mahomes and the Chiefs can get at least 3 in that situation, then you haven't been paying any attention whatsoever. They did the same in 13 seconds against Buffalo and have done the same in under 30 seconds numerous times in the Mahomes era. Also, with regard to the Ravens game, the Chiefs switched into ball control mode in the second half because they were ahead and were containing the Ravens' offense for the most part. At any moment they could have switched their strategy back to attack. This is verifiable if you go back and look at the play-calling in the two different halves. But haters just want to talk, not understand, and they'll just jump on anything they can to trash Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Patrick proves that if you do not demonstrate "intangibles" you will never be a great NFL QB. There are guys who have passing skills but don't make anyone else around him better. There are fake QB's who can run and run and run, but can't read a defense and do not make anyone around them better - they are selfish. Patrick is allowed to grow and to achieve in this offense and is given room to make mistakes that he grows and grows each year he plays. He came in being able to throw deep quick passes but had a hard time in sustained drives. This year he has had to learn how to operate on sustained drives and that completes him as a QB - now he can quick strike and do a 12 play drive. The NFL better watch out. He is the best playing current QB in the NFL right now. Not even close.

Pat has all the physical traits you want, has a strong studying habit, and can process quickly, and on top of all that, he's a good dude. He is a humble guy even still. We in Kansas City are lucky to have him. Between Mahomes and Kelce being leaders on the offense, Coach Reid and his staff, and the defense led by Chris Jones and others, we are blessed. That also includes Mr. Hunt who is a good man. Brett Veach is also a good man. When you have good men who are good at their job at every level, the younger players and free agent veterans follow because we have a strong culture in place.

I respect Jordan and there's no doubt he knows what he's talking about, however in this situation he can't tell Rich the truth. The truth is NO, Patrick Mahomes does not have to get his feet to a consistent pre-pass base to throw an accurate ball. I've watched almost every snap of his college and pro career, and although most of the time he does get his feet set and he's definitely become better at it, he has the arm strength/arm talent/poise to get it there regardless. Aaron Rodgers had this in his prime, Josh Allen has this, Matt Stafford has this. 99.99999999% of people, no matter how hard or long they train, will never have this ability. Jordan can't say that outright because he's got a room full of kids whose parents are paying him money in hopes of becoming the next Mahomes. The pursuit of this dream is a primary driver in his business, and he wants the maximum number of kids to buy this lottery ticket and work with him in his program, so he can't say no even though that's the reality. And we're going to see a TON of these Caleb Williams types coming out of college in the next few years, because EVERY kid wants to be that guy right now. That being said, you CAN train for certain things that help, such as arm strength, and Mahomes has done this with his dad since he was old enough to pick up a ball. Whether or not you can be accurate with it consistently, or have poise and focus to do it with huge defenders barreling down on you trying to kill you, the competitiveness/toughness to pick yourself back up and keep going even when your hurt. Those are the qualities that are innate and make Mahomes unique.

Yes he seems to be a rare combination of things. I think Allen is close in many ways but I think lacks the ability to not throw picks at the wrong time. Its an impulse thing I think. Pat has more impulse control and a bit better ability to throw off platform. Its interesting to think about what would have happened if Mahomes goes to Buffalo and Allen to KC though. Allen's got relative randos coaching him while Mahomes has the Hofer that made Mcnabb look good.

Ever watch a major league infield go "around the horn" after a strikeout or pitcher warm up? Notice how they're not "over hand throwing" the ball but instead side arm "whipping" the ball. The fact that Pat can do that with a football is what's amazing to me. Watch an infield sometime. Notice they're "slinging" the ball as opposed to throwing it over hand.

@@davis267 Chiefs didn't get lucky. They did their homework and knew when he would likely be drafted. That is why they moved up to get him when they did. The draft is always about potential and teams have different ways to determine if that potential will blossom. There is no guarantee that Mahomes would be the same player with any other team that would have drafted him. People act like he could have just came in the league and did what he does with any other team. Thats a fact. It will be very difficult to replace Kelce and have the same success. This is why Kelce stayed and Hill left, although as much as I dislike Hill his secret is also off the charts football IQ and that comes before his speed. A quarterbacks ability to create time and space is the exact reason the "quick release" evaluation is stupid, at best. Mahomes holds the ball longer because he can, yet the Burrow, and other QB wannabes, have legions always bragging about how Joe, and the others, have the quickest releases in the league. That is because he has to get rid of the ball quick with that feeble offensive line. These dumb fans irk me, and they are schooled by even dumber pundits.

*It's his field vision and ability to process that makes Mahomes what he is -- special.* Despite the talking-head hype and ignorant fan opinions, Mahomes is not special athletically or a better athlete than Brock Purdy (and most other NFL QBs). Both throw the ball at 55 MPH which means they both have average Starting QB NFL arms. Neither are particularly fast. Mahomes' 40-yard dash was 4.80 which is barely faster than Purdy's 4.84 and Purdy is faster in the first ten-yards being in the NFL's 93rd percentile! Purdy has average hands at 9.5 vs Mahomes who has smallish hands at 9.25. Mahomes' only physical advantage is that he's taller, but he's still only NFL average. So, sorry, but Mahomes is not a better athlete than Purdy and almost every other starting QB. He's just average. But, like I said to start, it's his field vision and ability to process that makes him what he is -- special.
