Is he? She's also one of the best poker players in the world. He literally has no idea at all when she's telling him the truth and when she's bullshitting.
That might mean having to cancel Only Connect. It might also mean not getting David Mitchell on QI. I'm sure Victoria would be a great QI host, but I don't know whether the cost would be worth it.
I just think it's a shame there wasn't one and he didn't seize the opportunity to use it. Would have saved us from a lifetime of programmes from a man who is as funny as getting all the worlds infectious diseases at once.
I can't believe some people say she's not a comedian, sure she doesn't do stand-up, but her comedic timing is absolutely impeccable, better than most stand-ups. I cannot wait to see her rip Greg to shreds on Taskmaster!
She does have some sort of experience in stand up. During her teen years, she would go do stand up where Jo Brand and Frank Skinner used to go but she quickly gave it up cause her parents wanted her to go to university instead.
I'm not sure where to call it on that one. Stand up comics need to be able to write sets and set up call backs; which panel show comics don't really have to. But as you say, both have to have great comic timing and quick wits. Either way I'd much rather watch VCM on a panel show than most stand-up comics.
She's great. Imagine the conversations she and David Mitchell must have. Also, they both should be on the show in the same episode. Those two and Bill Bailey (though I would not say no to Fry coming back as a guest).
While it's easy to imagine them having delightfully sparkling interesting conversation, I find it kinda funnier to picture them bickering about who's gonna take the bins out
I’d love for the BBC to set up a show where Stephen Fry and Victoria Coren Mitchell just teach us stuff. Be like Attenborough for random information with an extra splash of comedy.
If there is a second version of this, they have to include the episode covering the topic of 'proximity' when Sandi went and sat on the lap of a member of the audience, only to introduce him as her son, Theo. Victoria's reaction was priceless!
I remember thinking they’d be good together years and years ago, before they started dating (according to Wikipedia at least). They’re married because they’re similar, not similar because they’re married.
@@KennethSorling David's autobiography is actually quite touching about how he meets and feels about Victoria. Worth a read/listen if you want to understand a little about how celebrity relationships pan out. (I personally don't give a damn about that stuff. But I still found it pretty moving and interesting.)
For those who haven't seen these, here are two clips that give us a glimpse into their arguments. The Last Leg ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EbvmJo1Yu38.html Would I Lie To You ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nHbSBjuoVE4.html
This is why i love seeing her with lee Mack. He works so well with David, but Victoria is both firmer and less rigid at the same time and it gives them a great dynamic
@@titanuranus3095 Except it is not! He recounts how they met in his autobiography though, that much is true. Sweetest biography chapter I have ever read, too. Damn I am emotionally invested in this.
Awwwh man they cut the funniest bit when Sandy gives the wine out, she gives one to the other guest and one to Jimmy Carr making comments about each wine being like each guest and when she brings out the third wine Victoria thinks it's for her (it's for Alan) and Sandy says "this one goes down very easily I've been told" and the look on Victoria's face before she hands it to Alan is priceless.
Don't get me wrong, I adore Victoria, but on an episode of HIGNFY one of the other contestants jokingly spoke of a dog being sent to Mars. Victoria said, "I know they sent one to the Moon, but to Mars? Really?" She was deadly serious. Her intelligence is compartmentalized, like all of us, but in a mesmerisingly and adorable way.
6:15 when the two smartest kids in class got two different answers lmao. Definitely loving the aura of sexiness by intellect that Victoria gives. I'm bringing WILTY and Taskmaster, I guess I have another one to add.
Victoria has the lot! Brains, looks, sharp sense of humour, comic timing like lazer beams and a great figure!! Yes, David Mitchell is a lucky, LUCKY bugger! 🍒
Don't forget she won a Million Dollar Poker Tournament in Vegas, as well. Not that either of them are short of a few bob ! :) Mind you with a fabulous wit as Alan Coren as her Father she was always going to be quite brilliant..
Those who say David Mitchell is lucky seem to suggest he has nothing to offer. Also saying that David is lucky implies Victoria is a prize to be won. Both of them are academically gifted and hence they would enjoy each others company. Furthermore, David Mitchell is one of the most interesting and funniest people alive. While, he could gain to lose a few pounds he is not ugly but instead has a distinguished look. So in my opinion both are lucky.
At a guess the ones saying David Mitchell is a lucky man to be married to Victoria are men who find her attractive. It's not meant as a slight against him in any way, but is instead an observation of how fascinating on a number of levels she is. It's normal for people to focus on the gender they prefer.
I absolutely love VCM. She's my platonic celebrity crush. She and David both chose the only people that could match each other, and I couldn't think of a more perfect couple. Her timing is impeccable, her wit is quick and sharp, and by golly she _knows_ her stuff.
Proper "heart skips a beat" crush on Victoria. She gives me goosebumps. Even my daughter says "Only Connect's on Daddy...You favourite person's on...It's her Daddy". My wife just laughs, because she always says "Daddy's Victoria fix..."!
The timbre of her voice and inflections are so like her husband's! I wonder if one of them has been influenced by the other or if that is part of the reason they were attracted to each other 😊😊
"Then spilled the whole pot like a fool"; "When she ate it it tasted like gruel"; "Just like they taught her at school"; "Though she thought it excessively cruel"
Betting the length of arguments that Victoria and David have are based on entirely on how long it takes them to state all the facts and not a second longer.
David Mitchel is brilliant and witty and I could listen to him all day. But the greatest testament to his character is that Victoria found fit to marry him.
