Finally someone grapples the stupid put it in rice myth. But the best thing to do is get the battery out, after that there is no more galvanic corrosion happening on the circuit boards. Which is why it is unfortunate that they glue the bloody phones these days. The second best thing to do is absolutely flood it with isopropyl alcohol (electronics cleaner, gasoline water remover)

"It's not meant to be eaten" That's clear nonsense I've eaten a sauce made of a refined concentrate of Pepper X on several occasions and the worst it gave me was heartburn and a fair bit of a sweating.

There are all kinds of "American cheese," some more worthy of scorn than others. If it's called "pasteurized process American cheese," it's still mostly cheese, with some additives to help it survive pasteurization. If it's called "pasteurized process American cheese food" it's at least half cheese, and the other half (apart from the above-mentioned additives) is made up of dairy products like milk, cream, or whey. If it's called something else, all bets are off. It might be made from milk products, like Kraft Singles, or it might be mostly water and vegetable oil, like many imitation cheese slices, or anything in-between.
