I know that some of you watching might be fans of the “Kingdom” Manga/Anime series. So here is a list of the names translated from the manga back to the Chinese version: Shin: Li Xin Ei Sei: Ying Zhen Yo Tan Wa: Yang Duan He Ou Sen: Wang Jian Ou Hon: Wang Ben Mou Bu: Meng Wu Mou Ten: Meng Tian
Hey man (: it's crazy how much your channel has improved my life, Almost 4 years ago your tutorial series on learning how to play D&D helped me participate in what would become my all time favourite game and hobby and helped me make my best friends. But years later I was inspired to make my own campaign setting based off ancient China which we started this January. Now you're bestowing upon me the crucial and critical information that inspires me to keep researching deeper and have given me a newfound passion for history and anthropology 🙂😁
I certainly like your work. I think you should add English subtitles so that more people can understand it. From Greece! Not many Greeks understand oral English! That’s why I can’t forward it to my friends who will be visiting China next year! 😢
For kingdom fans 1)The history that we know is heavily biased towards the 'wang' clan, so obviously Ouhon and Ousen are shown to be greats. This is because the Wang clan was still very prominent under the Han Dynasty, so of course Sima Qian(Historian who recorded all of this) was obliged to accentuate their feats. When Qin was conquered all of its records were destroyed( you can search burning of kanyou by the xiang yu) and Sima Qian was from Chu himself so even there shin's loss can be majorly overstated. 2)Also modern historians now believe that Li Xin was discredited heavily in his involvements by bias writers in favour of the Ou/Wang family. So much so that his descendant was more famous than him ( 'the flying general' Li ). Now they mention that if history was written properly Li Xin would be much more famous now. I mean Li Xin is still the second most credited general in Qin wars after Ousen 3)About the Chu conquest, while the end result was disappointing, it wasn't as if Li Xin went in there and immediately got his ass kicked. He surprisingly conquered dozens of cities and major Chu fortresses at a noted surprising speed. His defeat part i feel like has differing versions but the one i read is about how he turned around to go stop a rebellion while designating half of his army to Meng Tian (I think some sources have it be Meng Wu instead of Meng Tian) to continue the Chu invasion. Li Xin was then ambushed by the Shouheikun and historical Kouen as a result. Also you can't even call it shin's blunder, he had no idea that when he was so deep in enemy territory, literally in the castle beside him he would be betrayed by Shouheikun who was incharge of the strategy for further battles. Basically he was betrayed by his overseeing officer.
Ahh. So shin loses the battle in chu huh? And ousen comes and saves his ass. Thats depressing. Also ouhon conquers a state alone by flooding. Seems like our Shin is not going to be the greatest under the heaven's if Kingdom goes as per history.
He finishes yan an conquered Qi and capture handan and the autor of the shiji glorified the wang family...and turns li xin to just justification of wang jian superiority
Amazing! What a fantastic picture! The colors are also perfect. I also created a new channel about Chinese culture, but not as cool as yours... I've subscribed to your channel. Keep going!👍
- It's not all of "modern China" but conquering such a large territory in such a short span of time is really impressive! - Props to Weng Jian that did all the heavy lifting! - This was possible thanks to their modular repeating crossbows; a quick traing on how to reaload them made for a soldier capable to unload 24 bolts per minute (average) with enough stopping power to halt a horseman!
8:12 Note that Liu Bang was already an adult at this point, so there’s a surprisingly good chance he may have been drafted for the Chu army….in which case he would later have his revenge on the Qin.
This seems to be an astounding level of detail for events that are supposed to be based on the hearsay of Sima Qian. I've also heard that two ambassadors from one of the states were given an audience to King Qin in a failed assassination attempt. But that "source" even claimed to know that a knife was concealed in a map intended to flatter the King of Qin. How on earth could we know such granular details??? *Edit: Yeah, even this short film mentioned that assassination attempt.
Thank gods that SOMEONE who's actually CHINESE did one of these videos (watching English people try to pronounce the names is both funny and insulting at the same time)
Whatever the history about li xin from what i went through almost every internet pages, he was good. He lost mainly due to ambush from Qins ex man. Otherwise, the damages could have been mitigated. Whatever! I hope the auther keeps xin's swordgirl alive and may they have babies in the manga. 😅🙏🏻 And thank you for the video.🥰🙏🏻
So you're saying Shin is about to screw up the invasion of Chu....and General Ousen is actually the real hero who's gonna save the day?!!! This is so disappointing!! (Sorry, I'm a 'Kingdom' fan!)
Video has been reported for KINGDOM SPOILERS. Just kidding. Enjoyed the video. Very informative and educational. Well summarized too. Love Qin Shi Huang's story and always wanted a shorter summarized version of his conquest and unification of all China. Well done !
But won more than the losses. He won Handan, wiped off a major Yan army, and cleaned up Yan once again, and he used his remaining forces to destroy Qi in one strike. His failure in Chu was bad, but not enough to topple Sei's trust on Shin.
@@yingqin7256The one who did not submit to the Zhou Dynasty should be the State of Chu. The State of Xu was a small country and was destroyed by the State of Chu
Kyou kai i think will retired and give birth Shin's wife ... Shin army will get bigger as new character will appear like Twin archer and Kyou kai sister
They used CE to change BC because there's lots 9f people offended using BC as it refers to "Before Christ " and AD Anno Domini a latin word meaning after death which pertains to the death of Christ. So those who don't believe Christ are offended with this term, that's why it was changed to CE
If you don't believe in Christ, that doesn't change the fact that his birth marks a change of an era. If you don't like fact, that means you are not serious enough to speak about history. So stupid
True, and I just learned about that CE thing last year during my review for the board exam and I was so surprised that that's how the whole world is try to adapt now.. Oh my.. BC has been used for centuries old and now they are trying to change it. But as for me I still choose to teach and explain to my kids the real meaning behind the "BC and AD" in the human history
That's not correct. The guy who founded the Han dynasty, Liu Bang, was a peasant from Chu. The Han state that Qin conquered is totally unrelated. The Chinese characters are different but sound similarly.
