Ingredients:
- one n half liter milk
- 1/2 cup uncooked white rice
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1/4 teaspoon saffron threads (optional)
- Chopped nuts or dried fruit for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. Rinse the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large pot, combine the milk, sugar, and cardamom powder. Heat on medium flame, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the milk starts boiling.
3. Add the soaked rice to the milk mixture and stir well.
4. Reduce heat to low and cook, covered, for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked and the kheer thickens.
5. If using saffron, add it to the kheer and stir well.
6. Remove from heat and stir in the ghee.
7. Garnish with chopped nuts or dried fruit, if desired.
8. Serve warm or chilled, as per your preference.
