If you scroll back far enough on my channel, you'll notice that the original QK65 was my first custom aluminium board so building the v2 classic reminds me how long I've come in this hobby. Although both the boards and build experience are very different, both still embody that foamy QK signature sound. The screwless design and magnetic connection are a HUGE upgrade from the original QK65. I went with the pink case since I wanted more pink boards in my collection. The pink spray coat consists of some glitter and is only visible under certain lighting. In terms of the v2 classic design, QK dropped the LED strip and mini screen that we see on the QK65v2. They also added an internal weight in the bottom case of the v2 classic.
Mounting style
The gasket mount is my favourite and I'm not saying that top mount doesn't sound good. Top mount sound good only on certain plates and certain foam config so that is one of the limitations for me. Top mount can sound good when done right e.g. possibly top mount with a PC plate and plate foam. If you're the type that like to change mounting styles easily without removing the switches and keycaps, I personally think having magnetic top mount screws would make the screw fastening much easier. You can see how much I struggle in the video.
Sound
Same as the original QK65, I personally think the v2 classic sounds best with foams. I really dig the sound signature with carbon fiber plate and foams. It sounds "harsh" but at the same time brings out the deep clacks especially the spacebar. (I'm sorry it's impossible for me to describe keyboard sounds and English is not my native language XD Please listen to the sound tests)
I know what you're gonna ask. Without foam, Neo sounds way better. QK sounds better foamed up.
Clip-in mechanism and magnetic connectors
The clip-in mechanism was a bit tricky at first but I got the hang of it. The thing about the clip in mechanism is you got to REMEMBER TO PUT THE RUBBER FEET BACK ON. I forgot to put the feet back and tried to pick up the board, the bottom case detached and fell on my desk. Luckily it was at a lower height and it fell on my deskmat. Same as the Neo80, the magnetic connectors are THE BEST thing ever made. Goodbye ribbon cables.
