Midi message code can be used as a means of communication between software and hardware devices. In the theater tech world, we can use "show control software" to send midi messages to lighting consoles, digital mixers, projection software and more. By doing this you can synchronize all parts of your production and provide a seamless experience for the audience.
In this Midi Part 2 video I discuss the connection options for transferring midi messages from one device to another including:
1. Sending Midi using standard 5 pin Midi cables
2. Sending Midi over ethernet (Cat5 or Wifi)
3. Virtual Midi cables between two software programs on one computer

Is there a method where steps in a Cue List can trigger different video clips in a VJ program like Resolume?

Hello I've never used Resolume but I see that it does accept midi and OSC commands. resolume.com/support/en/midi-shortcuts Yes, show control programs trigger cues that can play back audio tracks and send Midi and OSC messages. There are several show control programs for PC that can send midi messages. See my website: comutinytech.com/TheaterTech/page3.htmlCSC Show control is my favorite however it will cost $75 for the LE version which allows you to send midi messages. If you are more advanced and want to send OSC messages, then you will need to purchase the Full version which is $300 Ed Richards

Thank you again! I really like the cue list example. I'm trying to figure out how to have multiple cue lists without going in and out of Operate mode in QLC+. Would your set up shown allow that?.

I actually am looking to do the same thing. The only solution I have found with controlling the queue list from my Midi foot switch is just to build all the different cues for every song within one master queue list, which seems a bit of a volatile route when you have around 30 steps per song.

@@SonicMonkeyAudio - Exactly. In my situation, it would be 14-16 cues per set (I could "reload" the other sets during break). That's where I was heading but figured I would ask in case there was an alternative.
