Thanks Shuja for making this video. Why we take altitude from mean sea level? If we don't take altitude above the ground below 10000 feet? How pilots measure there height above terrain while approaching towards Runway? If QNH is 1013 after landing on the ground how much reading altimeter indicates above mean sea level?

There's a Radio Altimeter on board which sends signals to the ground and calculates the time taken for that specific signal to reflect and come back to the aircraft , then it does some simple calculations and then shows the altitude above ground . This is displayed at the bottom of the PFD ( Primary Flight Display ) .
