Steve said Mark's scratch tracks were as good as his final cut of the vocal performance . He wasn't joking , Lanegan has a beautiful soulful voice. Rest easy , Mark
This song reminds me of my oldest brother Jeff. I saw Sigur Ros twice with him at Berklee in Boston. He was a huge fan. He passed away on 2016 from an overdose. I found him dead in his room. I cry uncontrollably every time i listen to this band.
This is definitely authentic. Great find dude. For the real fans, it's nice to hear how the song went through changes. To the fuckwads that doubted, you have never had any recording experiences. The gist of the song is here, yes, but they were experimenting with studio trickery to present this song the best way possible. Listen to how the backing vocal tracks were untreated and listen to the final mix.
That photo of Mark is as cute as fuck..lol..referring to.Flanagan & the word ' cute ' in any sentence is wrong..lol..Listen to that voice...a rare talent ..Rest easy Dark Mark ❤ x
Josh has had such a ridiculous range in his guitar's voice over the years I don't think you have any right saying you would recognize anything. Compare Kyuss vs QOTSA or QOTSA vs Desert Sessions... sure, his style recognizable to some extent, but the man is so fickle and versatile with his tone and playing that it'd be pretentious to say such a thing.
This is almost like the Alt tracks from The Desert Sessions...this is one of my all time favs from QOTSA. The official version is really heavy/thick...this intro sort of takes away from that which is most likely why they changed it..
i love this version as much as i love the album version!!! but i really REALLY hope somebody can help me find any information about this, because this is the only evidence ive ever seen of any other version of the song being recorded (and it sounds really authentic!!!) im very glad somebody found this somewhere, but im so curious now as to where anyone could have gotten this.
It's the album version just an early mix, obviously they decided to strip back the beginning to just keyboard and vocals in the final version, also some other changes.
Tallulah Paslay I was going to say it could be off of One of the Dessert Sessions albums. Which is Josh and a bunch of his friends hanging out making music from what I gather. There are a lot of gems in the 9 I believe different albums like this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-14-3VzEBVmA.html
i agree with you slipper, just the fact you said a negative comment, people give you the thumbs down, i think thats stupid, it shows you really understand QOTSA, not those people who give you the thumbs down becuase of your comment
This was a demo you.... you can tell by the experimenting with different sound scape's to create a cool concept for the song. Lanegan is the supporting vocalist on this demo idea. You can hear the same similarities on the original release.
I think rather then a totally alternative mix or version of a song it was In the Fade version 1.whatever and then the one on the album is the final version, so without this one the one we have on the album could never have been derived.
@statictapes it sounds pretty authentic to me. a reference track? scratch track? and then just left to rot because the band is so tight they could cut the album version in 2 takes. you're right, the flanger is cool - i also find it suspect. i hear it cutting through the mix on the bass part clear as day. if they mix bussed that effect... tacky shit imo
so, if you have heard some Josh's interviews then he says he could recognise in split second Billy Gibbons guitar play. So you would disagree that as well?
@Wastedcum Due to the number of people playing on each QOTSA album, that wouldn't be weird to have somebody else than Homme playin that part. And people, stop bitchin' around all the time, that's a pain in the ass. You think this is a fake? Alright, but stop bitchin.
I feel like people give this video thumbs up for the song they know and love. And I love the song, too, absolutely, but this isn't the famous version! There's lots of pointless additions in this version.
