Hello girls, Dee - mash is 23 years old, 6'3" tall, classically trained vocalist, he plays 7 instruments, sings in 10 languages, does his own song arrangements, he composes songs, does - martial arts, archery, basketball, swimming... He is 23 from Kazahkstan. He has a 6 octave range. During the Singer competition he sings in 6 languages (French, Russian, English, Kazahk, Italian, Chinese) and plays 3 instruments. He's 6'2". He sings with his whole heart.
This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and didn't speak any Chinese at that time], and he was the least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode]. This was the first time the China audience and other performers in the back room on the show heard him sing. Between his first performance ["S.O.S." in French] and his 2nd performance [Vita's "Opera 2" in Russian], he quickly won their hearts completely.

This is from Singer 2017, a Chinese contest open only to professional singers. Most of the contestants are well-known Chinese singers, but they always bring in one foreign singer as a "dark horse", and Dimash was their choice this year (they may have regretted that choice! ;-) ). This was his first performance, and as you can see the other contestants were rather shocked to say the least. He ended up in second place for the entire contest, one of only three acts to get through all of the rounds. All of his performances are available on RU-vid, and you will be even more impressed with his later appearances on the show.

He uses high notes, by his own admission, to emphasize emotions. He believes that you shouldn't sing high notes simply because you can.
