the video doesn't explain whether or not the barcode data rolls over to the next shots you take without the barcode. I don't want all my images to have barcodes in them. I'll take one with a barcode when i change subject and then shoot without barcode until the next subject change?
Thanks for the question. Yes, you are correct. Only the first image will need to have a barcode / QR code in it, the rest do not. The scanned QR code will populate the scanned text in the "Barcode" field in the Session window in Smart Shooter 5. This scanned text will remain in place for all subsequent images, despite not having a barcodes / QR code.s This text can be used to rename the files and will also be written to the metadata (if that option is selected). Again, that will affect all images that are created after the initial scanned barcode / QR code, even when no barcode / QR code is in the frame. So, as you have described, you would make the first image with the barcode / QR code and the scanned text will remain in place for all the subsequent images you make (images without barcodes / QR codes in them). This will continue until a new barcode / QR code is scanned and the text is replaced with new text. Hopefully that helps to clarify how this will work.
Great question! In this video, a camera was used to capture an image of the QR code. The camera was tethered into Smart Shooter 5 and the camera was pointed at the screen and made an image of the QR code displayed on the screen. Smart Shooter 5 would use this same method to capture and scan a QR code displayed on screen, directly from an exported PDF. This way, the QR code doesn’t need to be printed. With the “Auto Scan Barcodes” option in the Barcode window turned on, all you need to do is make a picture of the barcode / QR code, and Smart Shooter 5 will recognize the barcode / QR code and decode it automatically.
