We appreciate your feedback. We are always looking for opportunities to create new tutorials, so we will definitely keep that in mind. In the meantime, many of the new features are addressed in specific tutorials centered around new features. You can find those tutorials here: ru-vid.com/group/PLjBWE90Quu08mebeBITbKN7swTN9X6CXq&si=CJmgIeFTswVfScQK The Smart Shooter 5 Lightroom Classic Plug-In does allow for any supported camera to be controlled in Lightroom Classic. However, the Lightroom Classic framework does not currently allow for Live View to be passed into the tethering interface. Therefore, we recommend switching back over to Smart Shooter 5 while the session is running in Lightroom Classic in order to view Live View from the camera. You can seamlessly switch between Lightroom Classic and Smart Shooter 5 while tethering - both pieces of software will stay 'synced-up' with the camera. Hope that helps! Thanks again for the feedback.
We are sorry to hear you are experiencing connection issues. It is possible that there is another piece of software that is intercepting the communication between the camera and the tethering software. To avoid this issue, be sure that all other applications are closed and there is no software running in the background. In particular, please be sure that Google Drive and Dropbox are not running in the System Tray / Menu Bar. If you are attempting to use the Lightroom Classic Plug-In, please quit Lightroom Classic until you see the camera in Smart Shooter 5. Once the camera is available, please launch Lightroom Classic and initiate the tethered session. If you continue to experience issues with the connection, we would be happy to look into this further. To do so, please reach out to Techsupport@tethertools.com.
Wow never would’ve expected to receive that valuable nugget shared at the end. It immediately clicked for me when you said they get shy or self-conscious when you compliment them, because it’s happened on plenty of occasions haha Thank you for this wonderfully helpful video! :)
Thanks for the question. Lightroom Classic just added support for a few Sony cameras, so your camera may be supported in the newest version of the software. You can find that information here: helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/tethered-camera-support.html Smart Shooter offers expanded compatibility as well as more features and control over the camera. Therefore, if you would like to take advantage of the additional features that Smart Shooter 5 offers and/or your camera is not supported in the latest release, then Smart Shooter 5 is your best option. You can download and use a free 30-day trial of the Smart Shooter software. The trial is an unrestricted version of the software and allows full access to all the software features during the trial period, including the plug-in. You can download the trial from the Smart Shooter 5 Product Page on our website: tethertools.com/product/smart-shooter/ Please note that you should keep Lightroom Classic closed until you have successfully connected the camera to Smart Shooter 5. Please feel free to reach out to techsupport@tethertools.com with any questions.
The available software options will depend on the specific camera model you are using. Please use our software finding tool to identify the options available for your particular setup: tethertools.com/tethering-software/ Please also feel free to reach out to techsupport@tethertools.com if you have any further questions.
Thanks for the question. Smart Shooter 5 and the Lightroom Classic Plug-In are only compatible with desktop operating systems (Windows / MacOS). Smart Shooter 5 is not compatible with mobile operating systems (IOS / Android). Hopefully that information is helpful, but please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
Hi Jonathan, You're not alone. USB-C settings are unknown to many. We have a 1 year warranty on all our cables. Anytime you have an issue, please reach out to customersupport@tethertools.com for assistance and we'll be happy to help. Thank you!
It may be tricky to get the TetherBlock to work with an L Bracket. We have design the TetherArca Clamp for this senario - tethertools.com/product/tetherarca-cable-clamp/
Thanks for the question. Unfortunately, at this time, Olympus cameras are not supported for use in Smart Shooter 5. As a result, the Plug-In will not work with Olympus cameras.
very disapointed of SS5 I purchased based on V4 live view... tutos. The loupe,... of SS5 is not as easy to use as V4. No tuto about V5 in the past. Live view for sony under LRC still not possible. Waiting for a better V6, I switched to expensive Capture one which is amazing. I don't understand why TetherTools team, having all features working, doesn't simply copy the interface, workflow and features of C1.
We are sorry to hear you are having trouble with Smart Shooter 5. Live View will work with all compatible Sony cameras. Lightroom Classic does not allow software to pass Live View in via a Plug-In - this will be true for any compatible camera using the Plug-In Therefore, to View Live view, you can switch back to Smart Shooter 5 to enable and view Live View. Naturally, if you have any other issues or questions about the software, please reach out to our Tech Support team at techsupport@tethertools.com.
Yes, you can tether Sony directly in LR CC as long as the Sony model is supported by Smart Shooter. Once the LR Plugin is installed you will be able to launch the tethering module in LR CC and use the LR interface to control your Sony.
Have you had it drained of battery for a long period of time before you recharged it? We no longer have replacements for this, but we do have a new battery pack --> tethertools.com/product/onsite-usb-c-150w-pd-25600-mah-battery-pack/
Great video, thanks for the input can we use d-tap to ac adapter to power a 200W light eg; zhiyun molus g200 using a v mount battery? Would appreciate your response ✨
The D-Tap to AC Power Supply will be about to output up to 85W when connected directly to a D-Tap plug in the battery. When connected to a V-Mount accessory that has independent D-Tap plugs, the output will increase up to 120W. If connected to an AC Power Supply Car Adapter (12V Lighter Socket), output will increase up to 200W. Please keep in mind that continuous power consumption at or near the maximum output can trigger temperature circuit protection in either the battery or the AC Power Supply. Therefore, we recommend continuous power consumption well below the maximum output for the setup. Hopefully that information is helpful.
I cannot get this to work properly with my Sony A7IV. I think there are some problems with the auto focus communication because the AF AREA fills the entire live view screen and scripts such as Focus Stacking does not work. I also tried the Lightroom plugin but could not get this to work either. Does this not work during the trail?
We are sorry to hear you are having issues with several features in Smart Shooter 5. We have responded to the email you sent to TechSupport@tethertools.com. To summarize the response here: There are no known issues with connecting the Sony a7 IV. The trial software is unrestricted and provides access to all the features available in Smart Shooter 5. Some Sony camera + lens combinations will not produce a noticeable change when using the "Small" focus adjustment, but the "Medium" and "Large" focus adjustments should work without issue. If you continue to experience any issues, please respond to the email so that we can troubleshoot the issue further. Hopefully that information is helpful.
Here is the link to the mounts so you can see all the mounting options. tethertools.com/product/aerotab-master-kit/. It has 1/4"-20 and 3/8" threads and an adapter for baby pins (5/8").
Hi, We recommend the following settings for tethering with the Sony a7R V: (Setup) → USB → USB Connection Mode: PC Remote (Setup) → USB → USB LUN Setting: Multi (Setup) → USB → USB Power Supply: OFF If you are having trouble locating these items, please consult the manual for more info: helpguide.sony.net/ilc/2230/v1/en/contents/TP0002887823.html Hope that helps!
Your suggestion has been noted and passed on to our product development team! For now, you can use any non-arca plate with the ¼" - 20 thread on the bottom of the LeverLock.
We are sorry to hear you are having difficulty with the connection. There are a number of possible explanations for this issue, but it is always a good idea to first confirm that the camera is set up properly for tethering. Therefore, please confirm the following settings on camera: (Setup) → USB → USB Connection Mode: PC Remote (Setup) → USB → USB LUN Setting: Multi (Setup) → USB → USB Power Supply: OFF If that does not resolve the issue, we would be happy to troubleshoot this and to help get you up and running on your setup. Please reach out to techsupport@tethertools.com so that we can further assist you.
Each QR code will contain specific information. If you wanted images of each student to be named with the student name, then you would need an individual QR for each student.
Hi Lawrence, this part of the video mentions being able to do this with the wireless connection using Case Air, which we've discontinued. We have cable tethering options, and it is possible to cable tether to an iPad.
this is really cool. I have never shot tethered but I want to because I don't like using the back panel to "see" if the images was good. I'm currently in school for photography in Houston
Excellent! Do you cover tethering in your photography course? If you're new to tethering, definitely take a look at starting out with our Starter Tethering Kit - tethertools.com/product/starter-tethering-kit/? - OR the Pro Tethering Kit that includes more - tethertools.com/product/pro-tethering-kit-tables/?
We have two batteries available and we don't have any information to provide on new versions of either battery. However, the 100W version has been updated to 150W, and maintains the same physical size. The dimensions for each are: ONsite USB-C 30W PD Battery Pack (9600 mAh) - Dimensions: W 1.8” x H 4.5”x D 1” (45.7×114.3×25.4mm) ONsite USB-C 150W PD Battery Pack (25,600 mAh) - Dimensions: W 7″ x H 3″ x D 1″ [177.5×79.5×22.5 mm]
Hi, I'm hesitating to buy smart shooter (I'm an amateur and I work with a canon m6 mkii). I don't understand why you have to disable live view to see the photos you've taken. Why is it not possible to have the live view and the preview of the last photo taken at the same time? Thank you
Thanks for the comment. We just sent you an email regarding this. However to summarize this here: You should absolutely be able to view the Live View and Preview windows simultaneously. It is important to note that you would need to access Live View in a dedicated Live View window, not using the "LV" icon in the Preview window. If you continue to experience the issue, please respond to the email we sent so that we can troubleshoot this futher.
Yes of course! Here is the link to the tray, which is called the Tether Table Aero: bit.ly/3HStrzv and here is the link to the StrapMoore: bit.ly/3SpbBJc

We do offer arms in longer lenghts. Check out our Master Articulating Arm - tethertools.com/product/rock-solid-master-articulating-arm/. If you have any other questions please let us know.
Yes - absolutely! In Smart Shooter 5, you can do this in any of the Live View windows (View → Live View 1-4). If you click on the gear icon in the top left of the window, you will see the Image Overlay section at the bottom of the fly-out window. In that section, you can use the "Select Image" button to load an image as an overlay. You can then use the "Show Overlay" button to toggle on/off the visibility of the image, and use the slider to control the opacity of the image. Hope that helps!
Great presentation and results. I am old school and I notice when you change the power of the key light by going up 1 stop are you changing the aperture by 1 stop to ensure the exposure is correct? I don't see you using a light meter or talking about your adjustments to your settings like aperture. What focal length, aperture, shutter speed and ISO are you shooting at? Do you make adjustments by looking at your tethered laptop? Thanks again.
great video thank you for sharing your knowledge. I do have a question. When you bring in them for composite do you size the first image and as you bring the others in do you scale them to the same size of the first image
Answering on behalf of Michele: We often zoom in for different poses. We offer our families more than one image - so we make sure the first one is perfect for the school and yearbook and then we can zoom in for various crops and expressions.
