Just got my penguin button lock and canary in the mail today. Blown away by both knives. Love the flipper tab on the penguin! The canary impressed me with how perfect it feels in the hand, can’t put my finger on it, just something about it feels premium. QSP has the best budget line in my opinion!
I've seen a number of Ultem scaled knives, but none have piqued my interest until the black (& Ultem) Canary you showed. THAT one is going on my wish list.
Hi David, I received my QSP Penguin button lock, and I love it!! I am A Civivi button lock fan, and I hoped that they would marry their button lock Elementum and their Wharnecliff Elementum, but they have not. Both my Altus and Cogent had very bad lock stick. My Penguin has none. I've never had a folder with both thumbstuds and a flipper, so it took me a few minutes to learn how to hold the Penguin, when using the thumbstud, so that I didn't stop the deployment, by blocking the flipper. My only concern is that a bit of relief chamfer, in the scales, adjacent to the thumbstubs, would be nice (similar to the Altus....not the choil, simply a chamfer). Or, slightly longer thumbstuds. If you can get An Altus in your hands (while no one is looking😉), you'll see what I mean. You now have me as a QSP fan!! Bryan from Nova Scotia Edit: It seems that the access to the thumb stud is just fine. The spring for the button lock was very strong, and now that it has broken in, the function is perfect!!
Thanks for the input as that is something we were hearing that folks wanted on the penguin, always possible to have different models or dealer exclusives.
From my experience the quality control on penguins is garbage. I had to return two because the jade g10 on one was blue on one side and almost white on the other. On the other knife, the blade edge was wavy as if someone fell asleep grinding the edge on it.
