Comparison overview of the QSP Penguin VS the QSP Parrot. They are both mid-size, QSP folding pocket knives that are budget priced. They both have simple designs that are coupled with quality features. The Parrot and Penguin are affordable blades worth consideration. Take a look to see which one you might prefer.

To hear QSP compared so favorably to Ganzo and to have the QSP Parrot win out overall (even if due to style), that is really saying something! Marvelous review!!

I think my Penguin is my most used folder at the moment. Really great little knife. Not quite so cheap here in Finland though. The parrot looks very similar (except for the blade shape). Really great review as always Mark.

I like them both but I have to say that the Parrot is my favourite of the two. I carry the Parrot in my bug out bag. Thanks for the comparison.

Yes I like them both but if I had to choose between the two it would be the Parrot. Thanks!

I'll put it this way: the Penguin is the better work knife and the Parrot is the better EDC knife. The Parrot is really well rounded and comes across as being REALLY pocket-friendly with a deliberately-good all-around blade. The Penguin's Wharncliffe blade and thicker profile is a bit better geared toward the work knife and i's just a wee bit thicker in the pocket (I also believe it's wider than the RAT Model 2 and Delica 4 off the top of my head, vs. the Parrot, which is thinner or at least really similar). Plenty of options for the Penguin ever since people discovered it, though: you can get about four or five different price tiers, all the way up to just over $110 with full Ti, a framelock, ceramic bearings, and some really cool anodization work.

I like them both and I agree with you about the different blade shapes. I appreciate you coming to look again and your great insight into these models!

I am completely enamored with my parrot so much so that I bought a second one just in case I lost the first one. Also the Civivi deep carry pocket clip will fit if you ever wanted to swap it out.

I understand Kered. Sometimes when I really like a certain model I will pick up a second one just because I like it so much. Some designs like the Parrot deserve a second holding! Thanks for watching!

I'm not a big money knife buyer. But I try not to buy the crappiest one either. I have had SOG, Bucks, Gerber, Opinel and KaBar Dozier's etc. For a while the KaBar Dozier was my favorite just for its simplicity and ease of use. It never failed and always did the job and when you lost it buy another. The QSP Parrot I think has taken that place. For $26 bucks you get a whole lot of knife. G10 or Micarta, D2 steel, a good EDC Drop Point design not to mention smooth action due to the washers. And yes the Civvi Pocket clips fit it. So you can deep carry it. Something I missed on my SOG. It's a no brainer. Just buy it lol. Knives I stop using usually I retire to tackle boxes etc. Youll always have a place for one. The parrots are going to be the go to choice for many. The penguins blade shape has limited uses.
